The food wasn't great. I think I about took a bite out of everything I got, and put it back down on my plate, because it wasn't really worth the calories.
The sushi wasn't very fresh- the tuna sashimi was quite fishy, which is not what you want sushi to be.
All in all, it wasn't as bad as it could've been, but I'd much rather go to Todai.
Also, the name was quite misleading- it has a Japanese name, describes itself as a "seafood" buffet, but it was more like a Chinese buffet with a side of sushi.

The one star reflects the fact that there was a storm in the skies, and I had a cast. So, because this was my first semester here, I was not aware that the entire campus is pretty much not ready for rain...at all. Everything was flooded...I mean EVERYTHING. It was absurd. Also, why does the stairwell leak water? I mean, stairs in the rain? Grr...

Open Sesame
Categories: Middle Eastern, Mediterranean
I was so hungry, I opted to order my own plate instead of sharing with my friend like I normally do. I got the "open sesame combo" with spicy hummus, and it was so good! I ate most of the rice, and about half the meats, so I got a side of rice to go. Then two hours later, I ate it again. Then I had the left overs for lunch the next day. It was excellent.
Love this place!

I ordered food to go- ON LINE, mind you- yesterday, and have to say, it was excellent. The service was fantastic, as usual. Very friendly, and my food was ready when I got there, earlier than the estimated time they gave me on line!
I got the open sesame combo, and ate the whole damn thing. It was so good. Couldn't finish the hummus which made me sad, but at this point I was too far into food coma, I just wanted to sleep. I got the spicy hummus, and it was way better than I thought it'd be! Would definitely do pick-up again! -

I really liked the food here. The minus one star is for having non-pretty food. That's right, I docked them a star for having non-pretty food. Why? Because, we eat with our eyes. You know it's true, just admit it.
Like I said, the food was really good. I shared some kabob thing with my friend, and it was really good. The hummus was really good too- especially with the pita bread that came out. It was lots of food at a decent price (if you're sharing, otherwise, it's a little pricey per person). Also the service wasn't great, even though they weren't that crowded. I really didn't notice the difference between Lebanese food and Mediterranean food, but I'd go back!
Pizza's good (I usually get pineapple on mine), and the bread sticks (there are like 3 different varieties) are great (I'm a bread whore, you know).
Excellent for a night in with movie.
nuff said.

Had the regular breakfast buffet this time, and YUM! I had like seven pounds of smoked salmon, and lots of desert. Any meal that gets followed by two plates of desert makes Katherine happy.
Plus we got to save on lunch because we were so full! -

On Sunday morning, I had champagne and shrimp cocktail for breakfast. Only in Vegas can yous tart a sentence that way...
Anyway, bf and I went to the champagne brunch, and we were just blown away. But not too far, because we ate too much. The buffet gives off a clean and almost sophisticated vibe, but very welcoming as well. We were seated near the windows, which was great. It's always great looking out a window anywhere in Vegas.
I loaded up on the shrimp, crab leg, smoked salmon, bagel, lamb chop, veal, sausage, cucumbers, and corn on the cob (not very breakfast-y, I suppose) Oh, and some fresh strawberries as well. I don't like my food to touch, so I was freaking out that the strawberries were touching the shrimp at one point, so I couldn't wait to get back to the table and make them un-touch. (don't judge me)
Then I attacked the desert aisle. I had the tiramisu, chocolate-banana cake, a macaroon, and some creamy mini pie like thing. I was in heaven.
The champagne was refilled continuously, and the plates were taken away quickly. Bayside Buffet has become bf and I's new favorite buffet.
We had a really nice room though, it was a corner room, so windows on two walls of the room, so we had an amazing view of the strip. If I were rating solely on the view, it would get 6 stars. Excellent view.
My friend and I wanted to get a nutella shake, and BLT burger was closed. So no shake.
Thought we'd try to see the volcano (you know my many attempts to see it, and how it never seems to be working), and surprise surprise, it wasn't working. Again.
The light switch in the bathroom stopped working at one point. How am I supposed to do anything in a dark bathroom?
The trip from the check-in to the elevator was much too far.
I wouldn't stay here again.
Anyway, would've preferred a different interior- the walls sort of just made me feel like I was going crazy. Also the goldfish tanks were cool, but my friend and I came up with a theory that they had that many goldfish in each tanks so you couldn't see when one died.
The food was great! It was quite filing, and didn't take long to come out. We split a dumpling and a noodle plate, and it was just filling enough- portions are not big. The service, on the other hand, was crap.
I'm a noodle whore, so I enjoyed it. Will probably go back if I'm near.
I remember service was pretty crappy, but I liked the location of the restaurant, and just the feel of it was a real nice, easy going type.
Anyway, I'm pretty sure we had an appetizer and a pizza. Oh, we had the spinach dip, I think, as the appetizer. Anyway, they make good strong drinks ;) (Maybe the source of my lack of memory for the food...)
Guess not very memorable food, but I do have fond memories of this place.
Anyway- I really like the looks of the restaurant, dark, quiet, pretentious. And I love being pretentious, it's so fun.
Between my friend and I, we had:
braised oxtail and gnocchi
lamb
dark chocolate gelatto
bottle of wine
We were also offered complimentary chickpea mix on crostini, various breads, and some cute and sweet nibbles at the end.
Also when I asked our server where the restrooms are, he actually showed me. And the bathroom also passed my standards with flying colors. They also had these super sonic hand dryer thing, which was just fascinating.
The food was great, wine was great, waiter and somelier were also both great and eager to help without being overbearing.
Looking forward to going back!
Date
They said it would take about forty-five minutes to deliver, and the delivery guy came at exactly forty-five minutes. It was amazing. When we saw the portions, we were flabbergasted- there was so much food! And all for about $17!
The sweet and sour pork was not that great, and neither was the fried rice, but the lo-mein and soup was so good! And there is so much left over, we have enough for two more meals, probably.
I'm sure I should be giving them less stars, because it wasn't the best food ever, but I'm such a noodle whore, and the lo-mein totally hit my noodle crazing spot. I would go back fo sho.
