First to Review
Stanley's opened last weekend, and they've had a line out the door ever since. Maybe this recession isn't so bad if people are waiting to pay $8-$12 for a sandwich when there is Subway (think $5 footlong) across the parking lot.
This speaks to the pure awesomeness of this new restaurant. Stanley's is a true New York City-style deli with a menu my Jewish grandmother would be proud of. (OK-My grandma is Catholic, but you get the point.)
I am a Reuben expert and this is the real deal. Corned beef stacked high on rye bread- real rye bread, not the marble bullshit many places use. The thousand island adds the perfect amount of flavor without making the sandwich a goopy mess- another all too common Reuben mistake.
Andrew had the Bronx Bomber- pastrami, Muenster cheese and mustard. The pastrami is legit.
Stanley's has a few minor kinks to work out. The deli case displaying salads at the front of the restaurant was a mess when I visited. Although the macaroni salad and coleslaw sounded good, the messy case led me to a bag of salt and vinegar chips. There was a used coffee filter sitting on the counter next the fountain soda machine. The employees don't know the menu yet. Andrew ordered his sandwich by name, and the young woman at the counter told him he should order by number because it's easier for her.
Signs in the restaurant state they are still perfecting their breakfast menu and will open at 10:30 for now serving lunch and dinner only. They still make fresh bagels, you just can't get them until 10:30.
I was more than willing to look past a few flaws, and hopefully these are minor details they will work out over the next couple weeks.
The mojito I ordered on my second visit tasted nothing like the first mojito I had at Noah Grant's. I didn't even have mint in it! The Japanese beer I ordered after was $11. I know it's Zionsville, but $11!?1
Service was average.

After reading Marcie M's review, I made a reservation at Noah Grant's for me and my husband for Valentine's Day. Hubby made more exciting plans so we canceled on Noah Grant's.
More than 3 months later, I finally visited Noah Grant's for lunch with a girlfriend. It was a lovely afternoon, so we choose a seat on the patio. I order a mojito ($7), and it was minty delicious. Then came the fish tacos ($11). OMG, the fish was crispy but not fried, and served with some assembly required. Next time I'll order extra avocado. My friend had a pasta dish. Although it looked bland, she really enjoyed it.
Our server (Jason?) was attentive, friendly and cute.

Meat service was fast, too fast, as I constantly felt like I had to make room on my plate for the next great slab. It was hard to have a conversation with fellow diners because I was always talking to the meat men.
On the other hand, if I'm paying $50, bring it on and don't stop until I tell you to stop.
Definitely a special occasion place due to my frugal lifestyle.

My Dad's Sweet Corn and Sweet Lucinda's Bakery are my regular stops at the Zionsville Farmer's Market.
Several vendors offer great berries, veggies and fresh herbs. Baked goods and fresh flowers are also abundant. My dog always has offers to sample free treats.
It's sad the Farmer's Market season is quickly coming to an end.
I'd give five stars if it weren't for all the patrons wearing Crocs. ;)

The Brass Ring Lounge
Category: Bars

I've never tried the food, but the menu looks unique without trying to be over the top.
The bartenders and servers are hip, and the crowd is mixed-old, young, beautiful, ugly, black, mostly white, gay, straight.

La Piedad
Category: Mexican
Neighborhood: Indy Metro
The food is average Tex Mex fare. Free chips and salsas and generic combo meals. Service is fast, but nothing special.
Read closely: La Piedad does not have a full bar. Beer and wine only=no margaritas. You've been warned.

The dishes are loaded with delicious perfectly cooked veggies. I suggest the asparagus shrimp, kung bao shrimp and ma pao tofu. Although the food appears healthy, most dishes are actually loaded with oil- almost greasy. All entrees are less than $10 and come with soup and crab rangoon.
The teas-hot and cold- are lovely.
The patrons are mostly regulars (and mostly Asian).
No beef dishes. I love beef. No alcohol. I love alcohol.

I am also a member of the Pet Park on HSI's grounds. The park is a mecca for dogs. It has huge open grassy spaces for running. There is also an agility course in the center of the park. The park needs some maintenance, but I realize non-profits are suffering as a result of this recession. With limited funds, HSI should primarily focus on finding homes for displaced animals not on park maintenance.
Finally, I attended the Mutt Strut at Indianapolis Motor Speedway last Sunday. Mutt Strut is a huge fund raising event for HSI. The turnout was fabulous and the dogs were adorable. The Mutt Strut needs to be better organized, but with volunteers playing a huge role in the day's events, you take what you can get.
I recommend checking out the lunch menu because the prices are right. The food seems traditional and I enjoyed every bite of sauerkraut and marinated beef. The complimentary bread basket includes a warm pretzel and spicy mustard. The flavors are intense, but it's not something I would seek out regularly.
The wings are FABULOUS. Mom and hubby loved the blue cheese burger with cajun seasoning. Dad enjoyed his Patty Melt. The only menu item I wasn't impressed by was the Reuben.
The service is....friendly.
Get a seat by the window and watch all the fancy Zionsville people drive by in their cars worth more than my house.

Just last weekend I picked up carryout from Stanley's and thought to myself that Stanley's was doing a bustling business. I was sure they would stick around for a long time, eventually becoming an Indianapolis institution.
Thanks to Greg and his friendly staff for fulfilling my weekly Reuben requirement for the last 9 months. The occasional BLT hit the spot too. Best of luck in your future endeavors.
