This place is as basic as you can get. Old decor, cash only. It doesn't look like much, and then you actually eat. It's awesome! Service is super fast, and I always like places that have an established clientele.

I'm not very fond of gyro meat, but I tried some of what my husband ordered, and it was really good. I had a double hot dog, probably the best one I've had in the Greater Chicago Area. Love exploring!

Portions are big, prices are very decent, and the atmosphere gives the place its special touch.

The thing about Chicago is that you can drive around and find any kind of food. That's what happened when my husband and I had no idea what we wanted for dinner, but I felt like traditional food so we stopped at Kappy's.

Prices are not outrageous, but definitely not as inexpensive as we thought. Service is friendly and fast, coffee is decent.

Now, the food... Maybe I wasn't that hungry after the huge bowl of cream of chicken and rice (which was really good!), but the chicken parm I tried didn't wow me. The pasta was overcooked (I like it al dente) and the crust of the chicken was a little hard to chew on. But it wasn't bad.

My husband had mini burgers and wasn't really impressed, but we got complimentary bread pudding and I have to say I like it.

I will definitely give this place another try, but I have the impression I will have to do it alone. The dessert menu looks interesting. ;-)

Pretty decent food at very reasonable prices. Service is quite fast and the margaritas are good, too. Other drinks may seem expensive, but beer comes in big bottles.

I tried the Enchiladas Suizas and was greatly surprised. The sauce is really good. Refried beans tasted fresh.

I don't know if it should be considered authentic Italian, and I'm guessing not, but I really enjoyed my dinner at this restaurant.

I ordered the baked mostaccioli and I don't regret it. The sauce has the perfect balance between tangy and sweet, the garlic bread is fresh and tasty, the service is fast and the place has a nice atmosphere.

Not giving it 5 stars because I'm still looking forward to trying their pizza.

Not as good as my favorite Indian place ever (with the same name, in Kansas City), but I was greatly impressed by the flavors in the dishes I usually order.

My husband and I tried the Aloo Mutter and the Vegetable Korma. They turned out to be less sweet than I'm used to, but they both have enough curry to make them very interesting.

Food here is reasonable priced, and I would go back, but only if I'm the area. Quite a drive!

My husband and I landed in Cactus Grill by accident. We were just driving around, looking for a place to eat, saw the strip mall and figured we could find a place there. The name was appealing, it looked fun, there were a bunch of kids coming out with balloons. We also figured it was some kind of Tex-Mex restaurant.

I loved it. The service is great, everyone is so attentive. Our waiter did a wonderful job, kept our glasses full, recommended the best on the menu and kept those delicious thin chips coming. The salsa is awesome, I added some Cholula.

I had the Parmesan Crusted Shrimp Quesadillas. Very tasty! The Parmesan cheese adds a very special flavor to the tortillas, and the shrimp is seasoned almost to perfection with peppers and tomatoes.

I will definitely go back.

Masalas

I'd been looking at the restaurant sign for a long time until they finally opened, and my husband and I gave it a try.

I'm used to the simple, non-pretentious atmosphere of my favorite Indian restaurant, India Palace, so my first impression of Masalas was "Wow, this is going to be expensive." -- The place is nicely decorated and inviting. It is considered a trendy Indian restaurant in the area now.

Now, let's get to the menu: Long and confusing. For people who are not Indian cuisine connaisseurs it will make no difference if it's North Indian, South Indian or whatever. Like Ruchi's, I found the menu to be just too big and I believe that a good restaurant should have a small menu of excellent dishes (too much chef Ramsey for me, I guess).

My husband tried the chicken pakoras that turned out to be very good. He also had some lentil soup, which he claimed was very hot, but not very good.

Me? I tried their kabuli nan (Indian bread with nuts and raisins) and I liked its freshness. I also had shahi paneer, which is cheese in a very mild, very tasty sauce. Very good overall.

The chai is creamy and you can sweeten it up to your liking.

I liked it, but for much less I can get the same quality at India Palace.

My favorite Indian place in the area. Un-pretentious, great menu, great taste, excellent service. They know me and my husband already, for we go at least twice a month.

The lunch buffet is pretty decent, but if you really want to see what good Indian is, you better ask for a menu. Make sure you drink their Chai... Mmmm!

My signature dish: Beef Korma. That's what I usually ask for. And their Chicken Biryani is pretty good as well.

Jason's Deli - CLOSED

The idea of a deli is always appealing to me. I love, love, love sandwiches. It was a cold, windy evening, the place looked nice (diner style restaurants always catch my eye), so we went in for a bite. It was dinner time, so the place was rather empty; I figured lunch time was another story.

I didn't know what to order that would be a hit with me, so I ended up getting a Bird to the Wise sandwich (turkey, hot pastrami, swiss cheese on toasted onion bun with mayo). It comes with waffle chips and pickles. I enjoyed it for the most part, but of course the hot pastrami made it too greasy. So I'll make sure I don't order the same next time.

This is a place I would definitely visit again to try more of their menu.

I hadn't heard good things about this restaurant, so I really wasn't expecting anything good from it. In fact, I thought I was going to be disappointed, but I really wasn't.

The only thing I ordered was an appetizer platter with empanadas and flautas, and they weren't too bad except for the fact that they were a little too salty for my taste. I liked the tortilla chips and the salsa a lot, and their margaritas are actually big and good. My husband and my friends had the fish tacos, and I think everyone liked them.

The service was OK, the place is nice, I liked the fireplace. The only problem is that I came out of that restaurant feeling like I was the one who cooked because my clothes were stinking. We need more vents?

Not too shabby, really.
