Domo Restaurant

I went to Domo last night in a dreaded "Group Dinner" Scenario.  The grumpy Domo hostess practically didn't let us through the door, acting 'confused' that the organizer hadn't phoned in our ten dinner orders ahead of time. Come on, really? And yes, we had a reservation.  The hostess also asked my husband to help move tables around to accommodate our group even thought there were several servers up to the task.

Service was creepingly slow, waiting for water, waiting to place a drink order, waiting to place the dinner order, etc, etc..

The food was OK but $17.00 for a bowl of ramen is hitting the high end especially when i can get way better and cheaper pho anywhere in aurora.  I also liked the 'spicy' option they gave me which came out with my noodles - a packet of order-out pizza place crushed red pepper.  Really? Oh, and the chicken in my ramen bowl was your grade 'B' cat-meat/neck meat variety.  Yech.

And of course the server plopped the check down (18% gratuity included) and disappeared for the night.  My husband reprised his role as temp employee and ran the check up to the front, worked the math, and explained the payment to them.

Pretty much on the banned list - it's really not that great, folks.

This is a great local restaurant and bar that's been open for a while. The service is very friendly - usually a greeting from the bartender when you walk in as well as the waitstaff. The servers are helpful and there is always a barbeque-type special on the menu.

the food has been very good and consistent. the salads are big and the lettuce and greens are FRESH.  Beer and drink specials abound with the many TVs showing sports or trivia.

Don't hesitate to stop in.  The breakfasts look good too...

Good calamari, fresh generous salads. The server gave off a nervous jangled vibe but came through with a replacement veg for a table-mate who had an over-charred side of asparagus.

Seems like honest fresh ingredients at at decent price.  Parking is tough, however it is worth a trip to check it out.  Wish this place was closer to the Glendale/Hilltop area.

Actually, 2.5 stars. I reluctantly dis this restaurant after having a few pleasant 'bites' of food here last week with my good friends. However, seeing as my friends also share the same view on this venue, i will continue.

Firstly, we (myself and my husband) are OUT on small plate restaurants. It first started with Soleil, then moved on to Root Down, and the feeling solidified at B&W. The feeling of Panic.

Panic - from not getting enough to eat, and every dish we ordered (and split between an average of 6 people, only feeding 2-3) cost over sixteen bucks.

As the food trickles out, you also drink more. making you hungry. but what's your limit on food? $50 per person? $75? in 'times like these' i feel like four dollars for a single pumpkin raviolli is a bit much to ask, and you are getting a slice of cheese down the street to stave of hunger after the 'meal' at the small plate places.

also, ask yourself - what's the margin on serving a vegetarian root-vegetable pot pie? charging upwards of $18 for ingredients that cost maybe $4?

Beatrice and Woodsley is a very pretty restaurant with good service. But I can't help but think every time a tiny artisan cheese plate is ordered ($14??) that it helps pay off part of the restrooms and sink in the back of the place....and the small plate fad will fade out as people realize they are getting totally ripped off.

Two stars only for the service - otherwise zero stars. My friend called ahead because we were a large party and they accommodated us by putting us in two booths across from each other.  The service was friendly and prompt and tried to make things right with a problem. But what can the server do about a kitchen knowingly sending out terrible food?

The food was horrendous. I mean - yergh! I ordered the steak salad (medium rare), my husband the chicken parm sandwich.

It took longer than it should have to get our food. My steak was cooked on the outside and raw on the inside. Yes - raw. The kind of raw where I couldn't cut the meat with the knife i was given.

Not only that - but it was pre-sliced - so the 'chef' must have seen how this steak was cooked. How did the kitchen think they could just slap this on my salad and I wouldn't notice? Gross.

The server let me keep my salad and brought out another steak. Yuck- the outside was cooked MORE but it was still raw on the inside. I couldn't cut this steak either. After consulting with my husband we realized they were serving really, really bad cuts of meat - which were probably frozen when they put it on the grill.

The steak was so bad that i wouldn't even give it to my dog.

The chicken parm sandwich was barely passable - served on bread obviously purchased from Nobel-Sysco or some other mass distributor.

I don't understand why this place is so highly rated. The food is BAD. I won't be going back.

I love, love, love the Christkindl market in Denver. After stumbling upon it with my husband many years ago when it was in the Denver Pavillions mall, we have faithfully made the trek each year (if/when we could find it..).

This is an new location for the market this year - hopefully making it more lively and fun than previous years.  (The years behind Cherry Creek Elway's were the deadest, saddest of all..).

Some of the notable food vendors are Alice's German Deli (GET a potato pancake) and Austria-to-go - an Austrian guy selling soup (the soup is good, good).  Several vendors also have brats - and you can't go wrong there.

The highlight is the 'warming tent' where you can get a Paulaner or Gluwine and hunker down with your food.  If you think you'll be back next year, buy the souvenir Gluwine mug for $5.00.

The only thing we can't figure out (and why it is three stars instead of four) is why it is SO DEAD most of the time.  Why can't the German American Chamber of Commerce Colorado Chapter PROMOTE this thing???? It seems to me you have to know about it from years past or just stumble upon it in order to realize that the Christkindl market exists!  Come on! The more the merrier - can't we put an ad in the paper, Westword, something?

Anyway, maybe now you know. Head on down and have fun!

More like 3.5 stars. Over the years that I have been patronizing this restaurant, the service has always been very good and consistent.   The standard menu, while not super imaginative, is always tasty.  The prices have gone up since the summer but I expect that is due to rising fuel and food costs.

Cucina Colore is a really safe bet for lunch or dinner with family, in-laws, and even kids.  Call ahead or use http://opentable.com to make reservation if you have a larger party.

More like 2.5 stars depending on the sales pitch you get. This is a kiosk store on the first level of Cherry Creek mall.

Right after I purchased a case for my new iphone at the Apple store in the mall we stumbled on this kiosk full of eye catching cell phone accessories.  Shiny cases, Bluetooth headsets and other various bling for phones caused us to pause briefly wondering if I had missed something exciting.

At that point the sales guy literally pounced on us.  I told him I had JUST bought a case for my phone and just wanted to browse.  Mr. Grabby Hands demanded to see my phone and pulled it out of my brand new case.  He also began a schpiel about a new-fangled clear rubber 'coating' he could apply to my phone in order to make it shock proof and scratch proof.

He waved a coated phone at us and allowed us to feel the rubbery substance but we were not allowed to examine the phone directly.
As part of the coating deal we could purchase case for 50% off.

He finally disclosed the price - $30 for the coating and cases were $30 ($15 with the deal).  I said i would come back when i got tired of the brand new case whereupon he surrendered my phone, dropped me like a hot potato and walked back to the register.

The coating did look pretty cool and I can't seem to find it anywhere on a Google search. If you want to investigate hide your phone in your pocket and pretend you are shopping for your grandma's Jitterbug!

The best burgers in Naturita Colorado!  I don't know why this great local burger shop is categorized under "electricians".

The burgers were fresh, cooked to order with all the delicious fixin's.  Friendly service and not one of the locals gave us travelers the stink-eye.  Delicious burgers wrapped in paper with a side order of fresh fries - this is all you could want on a road trip through western Colorado canyon lands! Oh and we ordered a great vanilla shake for the road. The lady behind the counter apologized for it being so thick. (What's the problem there?!)

Naturita is the friendly sister town to Nucla (to the east) where i believe "The Hills Have Eyes" was filmed....

Brown Dog Pizza

Great Bloody Marys.  I think we paid extra for the horseradish infused vodka but it was totally, totally worth it. The pizza was good - they avoid the typical mountain-town, soggy flour-y crust by making a very light (hi-egg base?) crust with good quality toppings.

Atmosphere laid back and friendly.

You can 'park' your dog outside with a bowl of water no problem. Large windows and doors allow you to keep an eye on the people stopping to pet your dog. Telluride is a dog-friendly town, don't hesitate to take them down for a walk and pop in for a drink at a local bar / restaurant (where dog parking is noted).
