I know my minimal hair isn't the most "difficult" to manage, but having gone to Sarah for at least the last 5+ years, she consistently does a great job. Always pleasant, well priced, and very flexible, I highly recommend her.

Though last night was only the second time I've been here, the food definitely lived up to its reputation. Really, really, tasty....the "Philly Cheese spring rolls" were really awesome -- I probably could have eaten 12 of them and been fine for the night. But alas, no -- I just HAD to have an entree, and it was really good (the chicken enchiladas). To repeat someone else's comment, the bread pudding for dessert was orgasmic.

As far as the "scene" goes -- I don't know what the fuss is about, it kinda felt like Black Angus did in the '80s. A lot of "dudes", or other future mid-life crisis-types trying too hard to be seen.  If it wasn't for that sausage-fest, I probably would have given 5 stars.

I thought, being in the heart of downtown Los Altos, that this place SHOULD be good.  I'm sure there's some decent stuff on the menu -- I opted for the Greek salad. Despite having some lamb-tasting chicken, which was ok though I rather would have had lamb, the salad was overall mediocre.  The service was equally uneventful.

Raymond Burr Vineyards

Not only can you see some interesting Hollywood memorabilia, i.e. Raymond Burr's two Emmys, a personal letter from Jack LaLanne, and tons of old TV Guide covers, but the wine is quite good. The '99 Cabernet Sauvignon was a much better choice than the '04, and the Sauvignon Blanc -- even though I'm not a big white wine aficionado -- really hit the palate nicely.

A very low-key, informal tasting environment, staff was very friendly.

And who knew Raymond Burr was from Vallejo? Go figure...

Everett Ridge Winery

Doing the Healdsburg tour today, though only hitting 4 wineries out of 1,000 (at least it felt like there were that many with all the directional signs we saw), since we had a busload of 17 people.

I have to say, I was very impressed with Everett's reds. The Diablita blend, although the most inexpensive wine on their list, really hit home for me. A mix of Merlot, Cab, Syrah, and Petite Syrah just ecstatically made it feel like there was an orgy in my mouth.  Not to be outdone, their Zin, Syrah, and Petite Syrah were quite excellent.

Finished off with a taste of Port -- I'm not a big port lover, but with Everett, I'm now a convert. A couple bars of Scharffenberg that they sold there topped off the tastebud titillation.

Cool, African-inspired artwork, great views of the vineyards, and a bowlful of Cheetohs on their tasting bar made for a great overall experience.

For ambience and casual atmosphere, this place epitomizes the "cool" factor of working/living in Silicon Valley. Ok, so the burgers and food are good, nothing fancy, but I doubt the cooks are aiming for any Zagat stars.

Nonetheless, a great place for some greasy food, fries, and beer. Weather permitting, eating outside on the graffiti-laden, older-than-dirt picnic tables really gets you in the "play hooky from work" mode.

This was my first time eating there, and have to say that the experience, food, and service were all excellent.

Though everything on the menu looked good, I opted for the Chevre Chaud - spinach salad with toasted almonds, roasted red peppers,  goat cheese toasts, and balsamic vinaigrette.  It was mouth-watering and left me wanting more.  Their coffee was really good as well -- not your typical crappy restaurant coffee, nor the commercially-Starbucks-ish type coffee either. Really good stuff.

Buck's

Buck's is like no other, with so much quirky "stuff" on the walls, it's sometimes sensory overload.  But that's what makes it unique. I personally love the food there -- breakfast is always pretty good, the omelettes being my all time fav. The coffee always tastes a little Denny's like, but if you want fancier coffee, there's always Woodside Cafe next door.

Great "comfort food", especially after a long bike ride or run. Of the few times I've done dinner there, the open-faced crab melt sandwich absolutely made me do my "O" face.

I've always had great service with Ken & Kathy here. Fortunately nothing's been lost, except for a button maybe twice in the 15 years I've been going here.  Agree that Kathy's a great seamstress, and has done some top notch work for the few times I've needed those services.

Flaming Fresco Mexican Restaurant

When I refer this place to friends, I dub it "high end Mexican" ... which can be kind of an oxymoron if the only Mexican food you know is Chevy's.  It's a very nice, high-class place; not the type of place for a quick meal (if you want quick, great Mexican, try Sancho's).
I've held a few client parties here, and the food has always been top notch.

My favorite recommendation is the Verde Blanca Roja (red, white & green) -- a good combo plate which is absolutely mouth watering.  Their chips and home-made guac are also "like buttah".
