Stuck in a midtown hotel with overpriced room service or no room service at all?  Well do I have the website for you, http://zifty.com

While I was one of those people back in the day spoiled by http://kozmo.com, and lives in New York..I am spoiled when it comes to delivery.

Because Papa Johns every night for dinner is not a good thing, I tried http://zifty.com and used them alot.

For the most part, on time delivery and courteous service was the standard operating procedure for these folks.

Thanks http://zifty.com from saving me from having to go out in public and eat alone.  (which I absolutely hate)

I ordered Yeah! Burger through http://zifty.com .

Even though it was delivery and obviously was not as hot as it would have been if I were in the restaurant....I have to say I have never had a tastier burger in a long time.

Seriously.  Queue on repeat... MMMM MMMMM THAT IS ONE TASTY BURGER (jules from pulp fiction)

Like I can not explain how good everything tasted.  It was a real treat. Show owner comment »

So I spent about 2+ months at this hotel.  Every week I would check in on Sunday night and check out Thursday morning.

It's one of those things where I have mixed feelings about the hotel, but became attached to the people whom I interacted with on a daily basis.

It must be admitted, this hotel needs some love.  And by love I mean money for renovations.  It is an older convention hotel that had to have been a site for sore eyes when it first opened up.  The rooms are older for sure.  The TVs are traditional TV's, not the flat panel ones.  The rooms smell a little musty too, and once in a while I got a room with an AC unit that liked to make funky noises.

During this consulting engagement, I started working out again.  The gym is nice, but the treadmills would always be in varying forms of broken.  I never made it to the pool, but the hotel does have a full size pool.

What made me overlook the fact that the hotel was old and needing renovations was the fact that every single person who I met was extremely nice and very accommodating.  If the staff was rude and uninterested, my rating for this hotel would have been far less.

Room service was a typical Westin menu, I really wish Westin in general would change their menu as I am pretty tired of it.  Yes, would you like powerfoods?  Or how about some firecracker calamari, or the little scrambler (yes I pretty much have memorized the entire menu).

My biggest tip for this property is that your cell phone will not work very well or at all on the higher floors.  I had to learn how to use this ancient invention called a telephone while I was there.  But if you are a text-a-holic...use this time to appreciate life outside of texting.

So I just moved to the East Village.  I need my locks changed for good measure.  My wonderful girlfriend yelps Lockbusters.  Let me tell you, there is a reason why these dudes get 5 stars.

Legit, to the point, simple and not shady.  I picked up the phone and talked to the locksmith who would be coming to my apartment.  He gave me an hour turnaround time...yes, the guy came in an hour.  Only if Timewarner cable could do that...

Anywho, gentlemen comes, professional looking, not scary and extremely friendly.  I had two options, one basic model lock and then the super duper high tech model.  I went for the super duper model because well, a three dimensional key is impossible to pick.

He changed the lock in no time flat.  Completely awesome and another item of my to do list of 1,000 things to do during a "move".

As soon as I settle down, I will be calling them for a deadbolt on my door as well.

High fives all around.

Even though I told my girlfriend the meal was four stars, I changed my mind and I am totally upping it to five stars.

We went to brunch today before the snowpocalypse and it was great.  No waiting, and everything was done fast.

I had the farmers breakfast and it was awesome and hit the spot.  I forgot the name of the cola they served, but it was really good and it came across that the place is a real mixology haven based upon each neatly formed ice cub stacked up in my cup.

I definitely would like to join this place for dinner and definitely another brunch as soon as possible.

P.S. People had kids here, but they were cool parents..not typical psycho stroller moms that think their childern are the second coming of christ.

Even though the hotel was under a serious restoration effort, the man who checked us in apologized profusely and gave us free breakfast as he realized we were serious business travelers.

The rooms were great.  Interesting room setup with the bed facing the window.

The TV was huge and had a good selection of channels to watch while I pecked away at documentation during the night.

Parking was a breeze in the garage.

Overall, it was a great stay for the week.

Ok, so its obvious this was a TGI Fridays in a previous life.  I went here for lunch last week and have to say that this joint is really schizophrenic.  Walk in, get the menu and get handed bread in a bag which makes me feel like I am at a french bistro.  The bread was extremely greasy and left me needing to wipe my hands several times.

Food was so so.  I got the club sandwhich and it had to have been dipped in butter as it tasted like it from the bread.

Waiter service was so so.  Had to beg for the bill and was not impressed.

I guess the only good thing was that a group of 7 ate for under a hundred dollars which baffles me compared to a 100 dollar power lunch in the city.

Noodles & Company

As an out of towner, I thought when I saw the sign Noodles and Company, that it would be an asian paradise of noodles.  Far from it :(

I walked in and was bombarded by the most confusing menu ever.  Because I was short on time and wasn't feeling the Chipolte next store, I decided to give it a go.

Don't get me wrong, the lady who helped me was very nice and attentive.  Maybe it was because I had been in some ridiculous technical meetings all morning or the fact that I didn't get much sleep the night before, but I seriously did not understand the menu nor the concept of the joint.  If I was hired at this company I would redo the menu immediately and change the whole ordering process.

The food was so so.  Nothing to go raving about.  For 10 bucks I ate like a king, but left unsatisfied and bored of any inspiration from the food.

I probably would have given this place 1 star, but because the people who were working there were really nice... 2 stars.

I work in Midtown, and my choices suck...

1. Crappy Quiznos that makes me run to the bathroom right away afterwards

2.  Overpriced Chipolte

3.  Expensive Stage Door (although it is good and fast)

4.  The dungeon of Penn Station (yuck)

This place has a little something for everyone.  I have started going here recently and have become a regular.  The place is clean and the prices aren't too bad.  If you are savvy you can get out of here under $10 for lunch, which is rather choice if you ask me....especially in Midtown West.

Interesting concept, well executed.

Menu could use a bit more inspiration and variety.  It's a bit on the expensive side....not Dumont expensive, but still a bit pricey.

If they could vary up the menu a bit and bring the prices down a buck or two...I would come back again.

The lemonade is good by the way.
