Quality + King service

Too bad they don't have the "original" french toast that was rumored to be unreal. The current version is as thick as three regular slices of bread, and with two heaping pieces it's easy to share. The salad that I had was generous in portion size, and all of the greens were market fresh/ not overly seasoned. The quality of the food is not masked by salt and spices.

Our waitress was exceptionally sweet and seemed happy to be working at this restaurant. Prompt, and attentive, she paid attention to the details. A great little casual dining spot that I would go back to again.

Strong Suggestion: If you're in the mood for "organic" and breakfast this could be a good spot.

Be a Pinball Wizard - Vintage Toys

Oh come on, if you're even 2% close to this place and you're reading this review you know you want to stop in and play! Just don't come right before they close because you'll want to play for hours. Fortunately you're not 7 and you won't have to tug at your parents pant legs for coins because it's $10 to play pinball till you drop! Who would have thought?? A pinball lover was taught to share and is willing to let you play with their toys.

I had fun :) you might have fun too.

Date Rating: 8 (If your date can't have fun here... maybe you should find a new date)
Pick up Scale: N/A (I would imagine if it's a serious pinball player they probably won't want you to disrupt their concentration)

Strong Suggestion: Think Vintage, doubtful you'll find a larger collection anywhere. Fantastic.

Walk in the Woods - Inside a delicious tasting room.
Came for the vodka, fell in love with their gin.

The gigantic shark clearly protects the distillery. If the shark wasn't there visitors might try to run off with barrels and boxes. If you're going to have an adult beverage and you want a finely crafted spirit the people at St. George have done a fantastic job using their love of the craft and their creative genius. "A walk in the woods" the tour guide described to us what inspired their Mt. Tam Gin. When you sip this gin, and I've never been a gin fanatic, you can literally taste and imagine being on a hike. I thought the bartendress was being animated purely for the sake of our tour, but she was in fact correct, and I love walking in the woods!

If you have a group and are looking for something to do this could be a nice little adventure. Beautiful views of the city, plenty of parking, and unique spirits that are not always available in the liquor store.

Strong Suggestion: Bring a designated driver, take the ferry, or hire a car service.

Time + Effort = Yummy Tacos

Worth the trip. Maybe I'm on a Mexican kick because California has great Mexican food but the tacos here deserve a prize. Skimp? What? No Not Gallo Giro! You'll wish they drove around SF like the ice cream man drives around suburban America. If you're up for eating outside with limited space or you're driving by and want to grab a delicious quick bite. The tacos here will make you smile and want to dance to a Mariachi Band. Yum!

Open high lofted ceilings, plenty of space for a crowd... was surprised to see three yelp stars when I logged in. The staff was friendly, soup was savory, the dessert (chocolate cake) was delicious. Wish I had come here for a drunken celebration as the plethora of Tequila was exceptionally inviting. I can image this being a fantastic post game spot.

I'm looking forward to the polished version of Rock & Rose as the new owners continue the transformation from a drab boring interior to sleek and hip karaoke spot. In the coming months I was told there would be a recording studio the private room facing the street. Could be fun :-) for those musicians/aspiring singers.

Had a fantastic time here with a group of friends and greatly enjoyed the bartendress' special drink concoction Hibiscus flowers flown in from Australia. Definitely unique and delicious! Have yet to taste anything similar. Also had their sausage which was pretty tasty.

Excellent place for a hosting an event especially if you don't want to venture all the way downtown to sing, drink, and be merry.

Cozy Neighborhood Spot -- Delicious Food + Tasty Drinks

This is one of those neighborhood spots where you walk right by and never even know that it's there. The luminescent glow of dim lights, high ceilings, brick and rich dark chocolate browns hug you but give you just enough space.  Ward III could regular hang or a late night snack/date spot either way it's a neighborhood gem.  The one thing that remains constant is that I can never get enough of their lamb tacos. Love sitting at the bar, though most nights it ends up pretty full.

Luxurious French Macarons & Chocolate
A Brilliant Gift For Chocoholics

When you can't fly to Paris or Tokyo you can certainly stop by this delicious midtown location. Cocoa and ice skating nearby? What a romantic way to spend an afternoon!   Delicate delicious macarons (egg whites, icing sugar, granulated sugar, almond powder or ground almond, and food coloring) and yummy ice cream.

My personal favorites from La Maison are Pistachio, Coffee, and Chocolate. The chocolate ice cream is to die for.

If you're interested in how these delicious little cookies are made here is a recipe that you might enjoy: http://www.tarteletteb...

Downtown you can also take private lessons in macaron making at: http://www.yelp.com/bi...

Strolling along 3rd avenue we couldn't decide where to eat -- noticed the rustic repurposed wood and strikingly different non "UES" decor... then the "kale salad" on the menu. Little did we know what fantastic delectable culinary treats would soon be in store. Plenty of free range, grass-fed, and tons of love poured into each dish. The owner of Kaia grew up on a farm in South Africa and brings much of her inspiration for the interior and dishes from her childhood.

By far the two stand out dishes for me were the meatballs with celery root puree (no butter or dairy, surprising), and the bacon wrapped asparagus (the asparagus was not overcooked!).  Every dish that we ordered I enjoyed. Good things to come for Kaia I'm certain. Best wishes for your future endeavors these restauranteurs.

Excellent restaurant for a date, dinner with friends, night out with the girls, or small/medium sized events.

Stopped into this cute little shop to escape the rain en route to a furniture shop across the street.  Loved the beautiful handmade items. Headbands, hats, clothing, jewelry. The owner of the shop was friendly and working away on her next masterpiece.
