Best. Pupusas. Ever.

This is - hands down - our favorite place to eat as a family. It's a combination of a tiny neighborhood market + causal eatery. Seriously, it's like going over to your neighbor's for dinner. Totally unassuming, the people are incredibly sweet, the food is affordable, and I've never had a better pupusa.

So what the heck's a pupusa? It's a thick corn tortilla, pan-fried, and stuffed with all sorts of goodness. I prefer the black beans and cheese.

Aaaanyway. Forget I wrote this review. I don't want people to find out about one of the best casual places to eat in Oak Cliff. *shifty eyes*

Eno's is just one of the many gems in my part of Dallas that makes me proud to live in Oak Cliff. The food is phenomenal and the staff is great. I marked the end of my 3-month maternity leave at Eno's, so it will always be a special place for me. The new upstairs bar is a great place to hang out and makes me miss my carefree pre-parenthood days! Expect to make a dent in your wallet since Eno's isn't cheap, but you get what you pay for: great, natural, delicious food.

The hubs, the baby and I went with an expired gift certificate and the owner, Sara Tillman, honored it even though it seemed she might lose money. She explained something about accounting and a new fiscal year. She was so nice about it that we ended up spending well over the gc amount and tipped the amazing wait staff for the total amount. Even though this is still not my kind of cuisine, they deserve 5 very big stars for the great service.

I don't particulary like the food at Tillman's, but only because it's not my style. But I do believe that what they do, they do well. I went for my birthday last year and my friend ordered some type of chicken breast dish and it came with (wait for it) - watermelon. Wha...? Yeah, that was kind of odd. And a bit pricey for the serving sizes.

Also, I was preggers last year so I ordered a virgin pomegranate mojito. Once we got the bill I saw that the waiter charged me for a regular mojito. Booooo! $14 for pom juice and mint is NO. BUENO.

Still, the decor is incredible and the owner is a very friendly woman with a lot of spunk. Check out the menu. If it's your type of food, I suggest making the very short trek to Oak Cliff to eat at Tillman's. It's a mere 3 miles from downtown D.

This little taqueria restaurant gets 5 stars for food and service, but I'm only giving them 3 stars until they get their act together with their dishes. We went there for Father's Day and the food was so dang delicious. But I absolutely HATE that they use all disposables for plates, cups and utensils. Our table went through a landfill of styrofoam and it hurt my little eco-soul. I won't be returning until they nix all the disposable stuff.

This place is the BEST! I love their authentic black beans and empanadas. Yum yum. The service is always great - very friendly bunch of people. This also happens to be Ian's favorite restaurant, which makes mommy very happy.

This place is tucked away in the historic old Sears building now known as South Side on Lamar. It's worth the trip to south Dallas as the coffee is excellent and the people are real nice. I love the atmosphere, the free WiFi and the yummy pastries.

It's been awhile since I've been here, but I remember three things that will get me going back for more:

1) great coffee, 2) good service, 3) excellent decor and atmosphere.

Latte, please!

UPDATE: I've been here twice now, and while the service is painfully slow (must. have. fix. now.) they are the nicest people in town and the coffee is superb. Will return again and again.

I haven't actually been here yet, but my baby daddy brought me one of their lattes once and let me say - best damn latte I've ever had. The coffee itself gets 5 stars, but I'll save a rave review for when I visit the cafe in person. Yum!

This is a great place for just about any kind of frame you need, plus a few art supplies. Frames here range from high-quality to cheap Made In China stuff, so buyer beware. Make sure what you're getting is good enough for your precious photos. I've had to return some frames that were pretty cheap-o. The customer service is good,  and that's always a big plus for me. Aaron Brothers used to be an indie business, but now is owned by mega-craft retailer, Michaels.

CityCraft

CityCraft is a new fabric shop in Dallas - the first of its kind in Big D! It sells designer fabric that you won't find in traditional "quilty" shops or Jo-Ann's superstores. Shop for Joel Dewberry, Anna Marie Horner, and Amy Butler fabrics, patterns and notions. If you don't know what I'm talking about, go and find out. Your eyes will be pleased with the explosion of color and patterns at CityCraft.

You can also take sewing classes of all kinds, including embroidery. If you already know how to sew, CityCraft offers a fun "sewing lounge" service where you and some friends can come hang out and sew, drink cocktails and socialize over a tea cozy or apron pattern. Fun!

I'm so glad Dallas has a place like this...finally!
