First let me start by saying I blame myself. I decided to find a photographer on craigslist for my wedding. That was my mistake. I should have looked for recommendations and did more research. Now I am stuck with the absolute worst wedding photos forever. This is why I am writing this post. I hope no one has to encounter this ever.

1. My photographer had an assistant. Even so, they could not get it together to get people in the right order. The ONLY photo he sent me of my entire family is blurred, out of focus and my dad's head is crooked because he is trying to look over my husbands shoulder. At one point my aunt had to orchestrate the standing order to make sure people were in the right place.
2. I gave him a 3 page list of photo ideas. My list was heavily family focused. The majority of the photos I got back were candid, out of focus shots of guests. Not one, NOT ONE good photo was taken of my family posed. The photos of my husband and I are all dark, eyes closed, or heads cut off. When I asked the photographer why he did that he said it was his artistic interpretation.
3. My photographer proceeded to get HHHAAAMMMMEEERRREEEED at my wedding. He took pictures from 5-9 and then him and his assistant put their cameras away and started drinking and hanging out with my guests. I asked my husband to say something to him and he told us he had 800 plus photos already. I was pissed but since it was my wedding day I decided to say nothing even though we were paying him for at least 5 hours. When I got my photos back there were maybe 450 photos. Him and his assistant stayed until the very end and he got so drunk he almost got in a fight with my brother. He was the drunkest person at my wedding. I didn't invite him to my wedding as a guest, I hired him as a photographer.

I am writing this post because the lump in my throat when I look at my photos is unbearable. I asked Reb to get a picture of my dad dancing with my 91 year old grandmother. My dad's head is cut off or they are looking the other way. My 9 year old flower girl could have taken better photos. Bottom line is I am completely screwed. I will never have this moment back and I kick myself every time I think of it. I may have 40 decent photos from my wedding, but of those I have no useable posed family photos and no useable photo of my husband and I.

If you decide to use Reb as your photographer I would say skip it and get disposable cameras to disburse among your guests. You will get much better photos. I attached 2 photos that I didn't make any changes to. These are examples of the photos he sent to me.

I've never dined in the restaurant but this place is my go to for Indian food delivery. Its inexpensive and delish! 1 star off because they only deliver at night.

God I love this bar. Don't ever change! You got it right David. Just a bar with a heavy pour and rowdy patrons...perfect!

I heart La Carafe! I hope this bar will be here forever. I no longer live in Houston but it was the first bar I took my fiance to who had never ventured to Texas much less Houston. This place is magical. The last time I was here I sat next to a guy who decided to squeeze out the nastiest flatulent ever. We inevitably had to leave it was so hard to breathe. Seriously people, what's with bar farting? Tell your date/drinking buddy you need to check your voicemail or something and run outside. Do a little shake to make sure there are no lingering odors and you're good. Is that too much to ask??

I haven't lived in Houston for 8 years now but when I did I loved Marfreless. I don't remember it being triple X but it was a sexy dive for a romantic date. If you were just going with friends you could park it downstairs and have a drink in a dope bar without at the downtown tourists coming in from outside the loop. I guess when people get wind of a place it starts to loose its luster. The few times I get back to Houston to visit family I am blow away at what's changed in the Montrose from when I lived there. I think its good that midtown is starting to get a more urban feel but the growing pains of having what was cool about the place go thru that metamorphosis can be painful. Don't worry inner loopers! Soon they will grow tired and move onto something else and you will have your sweet dive back! Trust me, Marfreless has been around longer than some of the silly "post drunk pics of myself on myspace" crowd has been around! In the mean time, go to La Carafe before it falls over... NO, not you tourists!

Found this place while waiting for a movie at Empire. I noticed someone made cuff links from old typewriter keys and decided to get a set for my fiance for our wedding. I went in and asked if they had the letters I needed and was told I would be called back. Never got the call so I went back to check in with them. The woman at the counter seemed irritated with me when I told her no one called me back and told me if I wanted them I would have to special order and prepay. I was so taken back by the nasty service I decided not to get them. Otherwise, they are over priced and they really don't have many "real antiques." Fun to pick thru but no real treasures. Found it laughable when I saw a framed poster for $140 that I got for $5 at Thrift Town on Valencia.

Angel is amazing! 4 stars because you do have to wait an eternity even with an appointment. This is a great place to go if you can't afford salon prices but what the salon look. They aren't going to ask you about your love life and serve your champagne and tell you how amazingly beautiful you are or be the "I love my hairstylist because I can tell them anything" kind of relationship nor be your therapist. If that's what you want then you may want to go somewhere else.

I have been going to Angel for 7 years and couldn't imagine going anywhere else.

I have been going to Sally for well over 7 years now. I used to live down the street and since then I have moved about 4 times but no matter. I keep going back. I have tried other cleaners in Hayes Valley and the horrendous Clean N' Save Dry Cleaners on Bosworth (AWFUL - see review) but I keep going back to Sally. They do a great job, the prices stay low, and the service is wonderful.

I heart Petals. My fiance suprised me with a bouquet from them and I loved the arrangement so much now they are doing the flowers for my wedding!
