Wow. Really, seriously, WOW. I thought Seamless Web was great? Up until recently, Fresh Direct had high marks in my book, too. Well, they gots nuttin on Max Delivery. I was having people over to my house for a friend's bday bash and in typical style, had done NOTHING to get ready for it beforehand. I had less than 2 hours, it was also cold as balls outside so I didn't want to bundle myself up and waddle down the street to get all the goods at 3 different stops. Hello, Max Delivery! I ordered: 5 bottles of bubbly; cottage cheese; 5 mini pizzas; crackers; candles for the cake, dip and saline eye solution. It arrived in less than 15 minutes. Both my friend and I were STUNNED. When I forgot the mixers for the drinks. I hopped right back on my computer and clicked a few keys. 20 minutes later, same delivery dude with my mixers (we both had a chuckle). And I didn't think it was possible to get anymore lazy in NY? Well, it is. I LOVE MaxDelivery!

Having watched the formation of Peels myself for a few months now (my apartment is literally 4 doors down), I was excited to finally pop in and give it a try! When we did, we came here (unknowingly!) for the first day they did brunch. That said, I was super impressed by the food, ambiance and our waitress was a little peach. If this is how things went on Day 1, I have to imagine this will be quite the stomping ground in just a short time.
The set-up can be a little confusing: they have a coffee bar where you can order drinks and snacks to go, but also a massive family style table that doubles for their brunch service (and I'd have to imagine for cocktails in the evening) After putting our name in, we pulled up stools and admired the very "shabby chic" decor while we waited. We were soon ushered over by our waitress (note: I would not go here with more than 3 people. The seating does not make it conducive for groups) The menu has an awesome selection of breakfast and lunch with fun names like the Gobblecado (turkey and avocado sandwich!) and the Spa Eggs (egg white omelet) I settled on the Ironside which was baked eggs, grits and mustard greens. I also got a side of their massive, buttery biscuit that would put Popeye's to shame. What? I love those biscuits. We may have also shared their house cured bacon and sausage (a definite must) and gotten a round of the infamous Stumptown coffee. While we didn't order drinks, they certainly sounded and looked terrific. Living up to, I'm sure, their Freeman's heritage. I was told the upstairs is reserved for dinner service and I'm already chomping at the bit to give it a try -- I'm sure I'm not the only one, but being so close by makes it a breeze to sneak over and put my name in. Sorry, suckers.
All in all, a great addition to the hood!

The lobby itself is just a room, but super tastefully done. They offer complimentary coffee and tea all day, as well as have a selection of guidebooks. We were checked into our wonderful "Archies" cabin quickly and efficiently and off we went to explore. It was a darling, remodeled cabin with a porch and chairs (though it was a tad on the cool side to enjoy). Inside, it was much more spacious than I had expected: a huge king bed, gas burning fire, board games, a kitchenette with everything you'd need including coffee maker, cutting boards, wine glasses (necessity), and more. But the bathroom was my favorite: heated floors (HEATED FLOORS!) and a shower with two heads isn't what you'd expect to find in a cabin but on a cold morning, it's very welcome. They also provide free Internet and were thoughtful enough to let us check out a few hours late (it was the day after New Year's Eve, after all) There's also a General Store slash Cafe slash Gas Station right next door which proved very handy for an Aspirin and Gatorade run in the morning.
We agreed it definitely would be a fun place to stay with a group or just to enjoy on another long weekend!
