VIP Dinner At Fogo De Chao

I am STILL full.
The staff was great. Everything was delicious. I really can't pick a favorite. I wish I would have been able to have more of what was offered at the salad bar, but I wanted to save as much room as possible for all the meat. And there was plenty of it.
Thank you Rolando for taking us on a tour of the kitchen. This was so neat. I think he said all but 2 of the cooks were Brazilian.
And thank you Gabi for putting this together. We had an amazing time. :)
Seriously, we went every year.
But I was ok with that because I loved it. I've enjoyed picnics (the way too go, the food is not that great and it's expensive), birthday parties, and scavenger hunts here. I even saw a wedding here once. On a nice day it makes for a great walk. Too bad they didn't have the water park type area when I was a kid. It looks so refreshing to splash in during the summer when the afternoons can be unbearable. Trust me, I've thought about shoving a kid or too out of the way just to enjoy a sprinkle.
It's also nice to come here in December when it's a little chilly and grab a cup of hot chocolate and enjoy Zoo Lights.
We came here and ordered 2 sushi rolls, 2 other apps (shrimp tempura and chicken yakitori) and 2 beers and spent just over $20 and we were stuffed. Sunday nights (right around 8 when happy hour starts) is a great time to come because the bar isn't too crowded. You have to get out before the DJ starts though because the music can be too loud. They have a nice patio which unfortunately faces the parking lot and busy Val Vista. Service was better than the other locations I've been too (Tempe, Ahwatukee, and Old Town). Plates were promptly cleared which a must when you're sitting at a small high top. This place is also very open. Some of the Ra's I feel almost claustrophobic in when I'm sitting inside.
This place is fairly close to home and the customers here are a little older, and the vibe here is more relaxed so I'll definitely be back to this location.
I had forgotten to write a review about this company, because the day I dealt with them was just bad overall, but was fortunately reminded this morning when I drove behind one of their trucks. The jerk was in the carpool lane holding up traffic (for at least 10 miles - truck #110), but wasn't carpooling.
The wait time was just over double what they quoted (I waited over an hour) and they didn't even call to tell me they would be late. Is it too much to ask for a courtesy call? Every other company I've dealt with has. Running late, fine, just call me and let me know so I don't think I've been abandoned. And I originally went with them because they quoted me the shortest wait time. Don't fall for this. They give you a short wait time, but didn't deliver. And I didn't even get a "Sorry, I was busy and running late."

You have to go through a security check before you can enter the grounds, which is across the street from the visitor's center.
There are free tours of Congress Hall, which served as the seat of Congress for about 10 years (1790-1800). No reservations needed. I think the tours runs every 20 minutes or so and you get to check out the first and second floors. Check this out before your tour of Independence Hall because it closes at 5 pm.
And you can also check out the Great Essentials exhibit in the West Wing. You can view copies of the Declaration of Independence and Constitution and the inkstand used to sign them.
The tour of Independence Hall was short and we saw only 2 rooms. One of which included George Washington's "rising sun" chair. It's reported that Benjamin Franklin talked about having looked at the chair and was not able to tell where it was a rising or setting sun. However on the day the Constitution was signed he said, "Now at length I have the happiness to know that it is indeed a rising, not a setting sun." :)
I am amazed with all of the history here. This was a great visit.
However, it is always really loud an crowed here. Parking can also be a nightmare in this lot. It's a small shopping center with a couple of popular stores/restaurants (well it doesn't look like there's much else but apaprtments/condos/houses in this immediate area) and minimal parking.
And it's pointless to make reservations here for large groups here. We've had issues a couple of times. Most recently we had a business lunch here a few weeks ago and called and confirmed our party of 14 twice and when we got there on the day of our reservations they acted completely clueless. And because it was during a busy lunch time it took them awhile to get some tables together to seat us.

Anyway the service here was great. Our waiter explained both the Restaurant Week menu and their regular menu. They immediately brought us the duck fat fries and 3 dipping sauces. I love them all. The french fries were great. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. This is a great starter.
We tried the cauliflower veloute and the beef carpaccio for our appetizers. The carpaccio was ok. It did have too many unnecessary ingredients. The cauliflower veloute however was divine. It was so smooth and creamy. It included a lobster fritter and pieces of apple. I could have had a bucket of this for dinner and have been in heaven. We also received some focaccia bread with out appetizers. It was so warm and buttery. We hadn't even had our actual dinner yet and we were getting full. They certainly give your your monies worth.
We both ordered the flat iron and short rib for our entrees. We got a little bit of each, which was just enough since we had quite a few other things to eat on the table. The flat iron steak was juicy and flavorful. The short rib was tender but just not as appealing as the steak.
Lastly we shared the mascarpone cheesecake and the beignets with the butterscotch creme. Both were delicious. The beignets came with more than enough creme so we took a bit and layered it on top of the cheesecake. Yum.
Nice place for dinner. I love coming to the Princess to lounge and have after dinner drinks. The open air bar with their huge lounge area is a great place to come on a nice night and enjoy our beautiful weather.
I loved it. It as a Monday night and this place was packed, but we only waited about 10 minutes for a table. Service here was awesome. Our waiter was friendly, provided recommendations and just had a great attitude overall. My boyfriend and I both had the filet mignon and our steaks were cooked and seasoned perfectly. They were delicious.
We really wished we had stopped by this place much earlier in our trip. It would have saved us from having a horrible meal a couple of nights before. This will be a regular stop for us whenever we are in town.

The bacon wrapped shrimp with goat cheese was huge and delicious. The goat cheese on top was the perfect touch. Just heavenly. The ahi tuna was fresh and light. And the crab cakes were to die for. I would like to thank all the little crabs that gave their lives to make those cakes possible. I didn't try the lamb chops because I was still on meat overload from Fogo de Chao the night before.
I also didn't get to try the Finlandia Vodka martini's but I'm guessing they were great because the line there was huge all night. I had the Five Rivers Chardonnay and that was nice and light.
The staff was great and it was great meeting some new people. Love the patio, I will definitely be back to grub on some more delicious food.
Thank you Gabi for an amazing night!
And I finally won a prize! I never win anything. Still trying to think of what I should get on my custom shirt.
