Pizzeria Picco

We've dropped into Pizzeria Picco three times - twice for dinner and once for lunch.  They have great, fresh thin crust pizzas.  The co-location with superb Picco gives perks like being able to order appetizers or cocktails off either menu.  An excellent, nice but casual restaurant.  Limited seating - wait times can be very long.

Fantastic bar and perfect menu to treat colleagues to a tasty and unique San Francisco restaurant.  It's my go-to downtown restaurant if I want to have a classy but interesting dinner.  It's professional but not staid.

Enjoyed the "American Gold" hot pressed cheese and proscuitto sandwich for lunch with a Drake's Amber.  Great food, cool atmosphere, definitely a place we would come back to again.

My wife had the Pork and Cheese sandwich with a glass of excellent wine - great wine selection.

We'll return next time for a cheese flight.

Not in a part of town I'm much inclined to visit, but I was blown away by how good the food was.  My buddy and I shared a bottle of wine, mac and cheese, the pork chop, and the buttered rock cod - everything was great.  It's hard to make a really amazing pork chop and Citizen Band managed to take it to another level with the great sauces that came with it.  Pretty good value too - we had everything above plus a dessert and walked away for about $50 each.

Noe Valley's most authentically local gem.  We've tried brunch pretty much everywhere else in the neighborhood and while I would argue you can get better at a select few spots elsewhere in the city (I have a special place in my heart for Mama's in North Beach - despite the tourists), Chloe's is tops for Noe.

Mosaic Restaurant & Wine Lounge - CLOSED

Perhaps it was the enchantment of sitting in a Wisteria-draped back garden on a sunny Sunday morning, but Mosaic had a wonderful charm to it that will draw me and my fiancee back again for more.  The atmosphere was wonderful, the service attentive, and the food just right.

We visited for brunch.  My burger was a little overcooked but very tasty nonetheless thanks to the sauteed onions and special sauce.  The sweet potato fries on the side, however, were to die for.  My fiancee's club sandwich was delicious, though the coleslaw unremarkable.

Corks at Russian River Vineyards

Corks was an excellent value and a pleasant dining experience.  My fiancee and I enjoyed our meal here and will keep it in mind for future journeys up to the Russian River area.  The food was good but not something we would go out of our way for.

What stuck out most for me was that we were able to get a very pleasant three course dinner for ~$70 + wine.  In an area surrounded with either low quality, low price bites or extravagant fine-dining, Corks manages to strike a balance.

My fiancee's salmon was a bit overcooked, but the papaya salsa on top saved it.  My hanger steak was quite good, but the red wine reduction sauce overpowered it.  We both enjoyed our very fresh appetizers (a salad and a soup) and berry pudding dessert, but thought the chocolate mousse seemed like it had been sitting on a plate in the fridge for a few days.

Quite simply one of the best restaurants in the Bay Area.  We bring guests to San Francisco up to Larkspur just to give them an experience of California's finest.  This restaurant embodies the unique flavors, experimentation, and styles of California cooking in a great atmosphere.  We've discovered some fantastic wines from their wine list in our many journeys up here.

Our latest trip was on a Monday and we discovered the Star Route Farm 5 course dinners others have written about here.  $30!  No corkage fee!  We'll be coming back.

Took my buddy here for his birthday - what a great dinner.  We enjoyed the unique ingredients and delicious flavors immensely.  Our server was a bit grungy, but he was friendly and served us well.

Come here for the food.  It's ranking as one SF's top 100 is well deserved.  Best dishes: Porkbelly skewers, Porkbelly house plate (we loved the latter so much we ordered the former and were even more blown away), friend chicken livers, and yellowtail poke.  Most disappointing: House karasumi (must be an acquired taste... I'm quite adventurous but thought this was disgusting) and fava beans.  The three of us each tried a different sake tasting flight and were pleasantly surprised by each.

Don't come here for the ambiance.  The restaurant would seem perfectly suited to a small, dimly lit, charismatic space with thoughtful Japanese ornamentation.  Instead, the narrow, tall-ceiling room we were seated in had all the romance of the nearest Safeway.

Fourth time coming here (first time was almost 10 years ago) and Luna continues to be a reliably pleasant place to eat.  Not amazing, but pleasant.  It's affordable, service is decent, and the food tasty.  We enjoyed our brunch - I had french toast, eggs, and bacon, all for $9 - and were in and out reasonably fast.
