This place is C-R-A-Z-Y!
My niece and I came here to visit the ear piercing salon-- FOR HER DOLL. We also visited the hair salon (same location) and had her hair done. Her doll came out looking like she had brand new hair. No more tangles! My niece loves changing out the earrings.
My younger niece had a blast looking at the baby American Girl Dolls and pushing a pink carriage all over the store. The salespeople were accommodating and nice. It seemed like a very hands-on store which I liked.
Next time we will make reservations for tea.

My niece has a play group here once a week. It is in a basement room filled with fun toys and other kids. She has a blast and the staff is great. She is constantly singing the songs she learns here and is enthusiastic for all the activities.

I am a San Franciscan and I like mission style burritos. I like rice and beans, meat, sour cream, cheese and salsa in my burritos. I love the flavor combination. THESE are the polar opposite of a mission style burrito. Basically these are giant street tacos in a bigger tortilla. Basically, big logs of meat. Not my thing.
However, if I had chosen to get tacos here I think I would have been a bigger fan. The meat was delicious and had great flavor. I think I just ordered the wrong thing.
Chicago isn't California and I'll remember that when ordering again. Tacos all the way. Street tacos seem to be consistent everywhere I go.

Four stars because this is my nephew's favorite restaurant.
Service was great and friendly and accommodating. I say accommodating because I brought my 2 nieces (22 months and 5 years) and nephew (8) for dinner.
My nephew LOVES the spaghetti and meatballs. My niece made up her own tortellini dish. I ordered chicken. Portions are HUGE to the point of being ridiculous. A lot of food is wasted here. I got A WHOLE CHICKEN on a plate. I ate several bites and was done. We ended up with DAYS of leftovers. I don't think anyone could finish what was put in front of them. Carmine's would be a good place to do a food challenge.

We enjoyed some wine and cocktails before dinner. The bar was filled, but not crowded. Service was excellent. Seating was comfy. Crowd was cool.

Meh really describes what the whole family felt. I am not fan of deep dish pizza in general so we went with the thin crust. I think the crust is what I don't dig about this pizza, I want my pizza crust more bread-like and this is more pastry-like. I guess it really is about personal preference and what you are raised with. The three kids eating with me (nieces and nephews) agreed.
We got apps while we waited for To Go and my nephew declared his new love for Mozzarella sticks and marinara. He wants to come back for more.

How cool is it to have a FREE zoo in the middle of a city? It is a great place to spend some time with the kids and the fact that it is free lets you spend as little or as much time as you want there. I took my niece and we spent part of the morning looking at the animals after a class at the Cultural Center. We went to the Farm Zone and saw the barn animals and the large tractor. She loved it!

This is a really cute store with great clothes!
I cannot believe that no one here has mentioned the great sales! I picked up 2 dresses (both designer) for 70% off the SALE price. There was a cute selection of things on sale and there were great items that weren't on sale as well.
I found the staff to be friendly and helpful.

Such a cute store! A "present gallery" is what they describe themselves as and the description fits! A random array of cute items fill the store. They are unique, sometimes humorous, but stylish. There is a huge elephant, cool furniture and a can of "emergency bacon" for sale in the store. I will be back for the cool nail polish colors I saw. This would be a fantastic place to get a unique hostess or Valentines gift.
I love it even more now that i know the owner is Joan Cusack, but I originally stopped in because the store had an air of whimsy that I just loved. The cool actress owner is just icing on the cake.
