Couple Days later: Rats! Rats running everywhere. Through the walls!
Out of their cellar! The workers of King of Thai Noodle House right here on O'Farrell, were starting to get word of this local outbreak of medical emergencies so they RAT BOMB the joint and then the local hotel industry has to deal with the overflow of rodents. (BTW- do you think they took the time to clean the veggies before you and your visiting family members went to that 'cute little Thai place in Union Square'?)

food began @ 12:30pm and the
eager people were ready to chow. The glitteraitti

great feed. The graduating class got up and gave
a few speeches concerning how Chef Dan and the
program really changed their lives. Unfortunately
one of the graduates spent a little too much time
in the can (re: kookoo for co-co puffs)
but the meal went off without a hitch and
everyone was slapping appendages together.

BY-LINE: Yelp Party
June 21st, 2006

Did not see Nish @ Yelp! party (though his name was certainly bantied around by all the boys & girls). I did, however, get some alone time with a couple YELPstars who are not robots BUT keep everything running so machine smooth it may seem the Nish has employed some spiders to send out autoresponse.
I'm sorry I am not able to remember each and every beautiful name I was so eager to consume. God! Wasn't that fun?
Key moments (for me) -
Having a smoke with POE - She's funny and smart. She lives in the inner Richmond. She loves flowers and bitching. She recieved a FREE RIDE
from our loverly friends at Zipcars around
9:30-ish.
The beautiful Russian girl... I only got [re:
video] a little of your boot {up to your knee}
but was seriously inspired by the joy in your
eyes.
The Lebanese girrrls in the wine cellar, writing
is as important as the moving image. Look at me.
I pick up my PALM and I'm off to the races.

hardway: If you take the N-Judah line out to Ocean Beach & you get off by the Golden Gate Restaraunt [which is in that weird little 7-11 shopping center @ 46th & Judah..] and then you walk one block east, you are gonna find yourself smack-dab in front of the
Other Avenue Food Store.
simpledirection: It is simply located btwn 44th & 45th on Judah.
organicstyle: Go on in, Oh traveller of the ancient & mysterious outer sunset. Check it out. The people are friendly and knowledgable. The prices go into the pockets of the workers. If that's still something you're interested in supporting.
As a matter of fact, I once carried a fine bottle of wine up to the on-duty manager and asked if he would open it for me. I assured him I would not consume this fine organic wine on the premises. He handed me a fine antique corkscrew and bid me a good day.
rustic end: If you're ever out that way stop by and say 'hi' or 'howdy' or 'how do?' or whatever appellation the young ones are using these days. Purchase a bit of organic grub, something to drink and head on out into the surf and sunset. I betcha'll be glad you did.

shrimp and fried calamari & chillin' on the Bay. Sounds like a Jimmy Buffet song,... I know,... I know. It is actually a Summer party sponsered by our friends @ the SF Weekly. Where to begin, where to begin...6:15 and a decent buzz ...A few 'Whatever' girls grouping under a partly cloudy sky. A few suits checking the Bay, the babes, and the booze.
I talked to one guy in a suit. I actually petioned him for a square seeing as my supply has grown suspiciously low to non-existent.This man was a pilot of some form of aircraft. He had one eye on the birds and a cocktail in his hand. Seemed rather cool, but with a tone of melancholy in his eye. I put it down to the expansive blue stare that grounded pilots sometimes get on knowing of how time moves down here on good old terra firma.
The mowhaked busboy grabs empties lickety-split. Guess there ain't no half-steppin'.. I grab two more Peroni as fast as my dulled reflexes will allow. SF Weekly guy walks around with a digital point & shoot (I'm keeping my good eye on him).
A monstrously proportioned man, with a ponytail & goatee, puts on a brown blazer before delicately spearing shrimp with his pinkies @ right angles. I look up and there's a clone of the same man but in a bulging white tee-shirt. Some rock & roll station is giving out Glen Danzing memberships to the gymnasium it seems.
I turn my head and am accosted by a platinum number with throbbing turqoise eyes. She wants to know who I am. What am I doing here? I'm not saying anything yet. I keep clam and tight lipped as a catholic bay fish. Sounds like the beginning of a noir commercial for deep fried seafood.
The line moves quickly on the free eats aisle. The working girls pull up their skirts, while non-challantly measuring the ratio of their expanding wombs with skinny steno-pool fingers. Unringed fingers to be sure. These are the women of the mythic Endless Summer conundrum. They are hoping to be well off and happy with a 200k man before the bodies go south and they finally move into the deep, piney woods of the great northwest.
The guy with a mowhak is back. He's everywhere. He watches the backporch like a kite or a rock lobster.
A Lebanese couple wins a couple of tickets to the ballpark. They want me to know they are getting married. -That's great! My 1st wife was Lebanese. Can I blog your wedding?- They seem kinda put off I should even mention such things. Seems they don't want to spoil the sanctity of their nuptial bliss. What would the AI or (as Megan suggests) test tube children think to know their mommies had a blogger at the hootananny?
A serene Japanese man with long gray hair is studying to be the next Foo. He sits alone at a blue & white checkered table cloth.
Guy- unknown guy overheard- sez 'God, it looks like sometin' outta a sci-fi movie.' Welcome stranger. Welcome to my world.
This is my 1st SF Weekly party. It seems unfair to compare and measure it against all the fabulous Yelp functions I have attended in SF (esp the 'Hot Summer Nights gig over @ Roe. God, that was only like a week ago. Guess the spacemen aren't the only thing flying around this place)
Sidenote to Yelpers*: did you check the visuals yet?.
In all fairness I'll give it a 7 outta 10, hoping I'll get another chance to attend.
Whether it's SF Weekly or my pals @ Yelp* I enjoy communing with the people of SF. They are diverse and passionate people. I feel right @ home.
