The food here is good, and the portions are HUGE. I recently had the Greek salad, really really HUGE and good, and cheap. The servers are also very nice. I'll be back for more...

Let's cut to the chase, SO F*CKING UNBELIEVABLY TASTY!!!

I've been passing by this shop a lot wondering when it would open, and I happened to pass by today and it was, yay! The peanut butter and jelly bars are such heavenly bundles of joy and goodness I'm actually pissed at these people because this means how much more time on the dreaded elliptical machine?!? I kid...the funny thing is I either ordered the PB&J bars by accident or got them by accident. When I realized what they were my first instinct was to exchange them, but they looked so appetizing so I kept them, AND the owners were so nice they gave me my pumpkin bread which I either did order or meant to order-not sure which-for FREE! I too am self employed and understand how important great customer service is.

I am damned happy I ended up with those PB&J bars because this had been a seriously crappy day, but I am honestly happy at this moment. I was so impressed with how delicious my goodies were and I've been thinking a lot lately about how so many things seem to be going to sh*t. I am so rarely impressed these days that it's a real treat to have been so pleased by something I spent my hard earned cash on.

I can't wait to try the home made ice cream cookie sandwiches!

Hotel Laguna

I stayed here last Friday night and couldn't be happier. ROOM 106 rocks, ask for it. We had an ocean view and the back door that leads to the stairs going directly down to the beach was just feet away. Mind you people coming upstairs can see you right through the window, so don't undress or get your hump on without closing the curtains. A previous poster pointed out how shallow it is to judge this place by fancy-schmancy hotel standards which is correct. More to the point- if they actually spent the dough fixing this joint up it would be completely unaffordable for the common person. The carpet in our room was new, the bedspreads are covered with duvet clean duvet covers, the room itself was worn but perfectly clean. The elevators smelled just fine. The bathroom had a large tub and plenty of hot water with decent soap, etc.

Their "private beach" is really just a small roped off area, but it sits below their terrace cafe next to the ocean and you can bring booze with you, woo hoo! Watching the sunset was almost as enjoyable as watching the parade of doggies walking their owners, dogs are allowed on this beach! Laguna is just beautiful, the people there are laid back and really cool. Walk down the beach for less than 10 minutes and you're at the tide pools. Our little boy had a blast touching sea anemones and trying to catch little crabs. A couple blocks away from Hotel Laguna there's a strip with loads of bars and restaurants, we went to Hennessey's which was pretty cool.

Their "continental breakfast": Not great, pastries, yogurt, cereals, fruit cups and one of those all purpose machines that serves coffee, hot cocoa, etc., but hey it's free. At least you get enough coffee to get you going in the morning to walk to a nice restaurant. And they deliver the OC Register to your door for free :) I definitely plan on staying here again.

Blue Cafe

Oh how the mighty have fallen. Back in the day (early-mid 90s) the old Blue Cafe on Pine Ave. was so much fun. Spacious, pool tables, multiple bars, parking for classic cars, real dance floor and seating, I loved to go there for "dinner and a show". It started sliding down hill when Mariposa opened upstairs. Now it has officially bottomed out at dive bar status, minus the cheap drinks and fun that dive bars can provide. It is located beneath the sort of club that I wouldn't be caught DEAD in close proximity to, a loud, obnoxious Latin club (no not the sexy Salsa dancing kind, the other kind) that's chock full of tools and toolettes (AKA Snookitas). The mere fact that I must enter through Mariposa to get to the Blue carries an embarrassment factor of 10+. The new Blue is hot and dingy, you must first negotiate a flight of stairs to descend into the hot bowels of Hell. They f*cked up bigtime on March 18 when they failed to inform their patrons that Lords of Altamont had canceled and people were sitting through the WORST support band I have ever, ever seen. (Don't want to mention any names but their initials were 'A.O.' *barf*.) People started getting nervous that none of the Lords were anywhere to be seen and asked, then were informed that they had canceled much earlier in the eve. Fuckers! They kept us there drinking their way overpriced beers and listening to terrible music when we could have been boozin' it up for next to nothing at the V-Room! (which we promptly hightailed it to) The Blue staff did refund people's money though, the decent thing to do. I'm not crazy about the one toilet co-ed bathroom, either. Some fat fuck neglected to lock the door behind him and I walked in on him taking a pee. Gross.

Damn you Hole Mole. The first time I tried you I wasn't impressed, and you gave me the shits, so I wrote a bad review. Then my husband brought you home a couple of times, and you started to grow on me. I liked your cheesy frijoles, and your enchiladas were ok in spite of the obviously canned enchilada sauce. You gave us free jalapenos, were a step up from Taco Hell, and were cheaper, too. Your lardy goodness was instrumental in curing an outrageous hangover I once had. Your meat tamales were the worst I've ever had (dry, very dry), but whatevs...THEN I FOUND THE HAIR IN MY HUSBAND'S TAMALE THE OTHER DAY!!!!!! That's right, a flippin' HAIR! I was boxing up the leftovers at home for the fridge, and decided to take a little bite of his tamale. At first I thought it was a really long, thin piece of stringy beef, but no. It was a very long, very FRIZZY dark burgundy hair. I'd have sworn it was a pube, but it was way too long.

I've worked in food service before, these things do not happen if the cook is wearing a hair net or a hat. If they're not taking the simple precaution of wearing a hat then WHAT ELSE IS GOING ON IN THE KITCHEN? Hmmmmmm??? You're off my list FOREVAAAAHHHHHHH!!!

Very good! The crust is so good, light, buttery and crunchy on the outside. We ordered our first pizza last night, I wanted sausage but hubby wanted mushroom which is not my fave at all. I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious it was, mushrooms and all. Best of all, the price was $12.95 for a large and woo hoo! It ended up costing $7.75 because I guess they have specials on Monday nights, so Monday night pizza it is!

Great shop; good customer service, all shop employees are experienced and personable. The shop is beautifully decorated and clean. The real deal, not some bullshit Disneyland LA Ink ripoff joint. Ask for Swag, he's great.

DAMN GOOD BURGERS!!! Just got done eating one and I'm waiting to brush my teeth because I'm still enjoying the flavor, mmmmmm... I detected a hint of cumin in their special sauce. I love that they have a little pepper bar inside with jalapenos and those spicy fluorescent ones, both of which I love to smother my burgers with. They have really cheap family burger combos, too. I'll be back for more, most likely when I've got a raging hangover, it's that kind of place.

Metro Q Bar & Grill - CLOSED

I never would have known this place if it weren't for alcohol. I was lured onto a gay booze cruise in the LBC by some lesbiano friends and I brought my lesbiano mother-in-law along. Mom is a drinker and drunkenness ADORES company so she plied me with many drinks. Well, one thing led to another and before I knew it I was dancing around on stage with my chi-chis hanging out. There was a Hot Titties contest and by Jove, I WON!!!!! One of my fabulous prizes was a gift certificate to Metro Q.
I took my husband and little boy to Metro Q on a Saturday afternoon. It was pretty empty, the owner greeted us and we sat down. My husband loved that there were big TVs all around playing football. (by that I mean televisions, not 6ft transvestites in pink uniforms actually playing football :)
We started with some delicious beers (good tap selection) and some sweet potato fries. F*CK ME those fries were DELICIOUS! Fresh, battered and served with Ranch dressing. We polished them off and I ordered the burger sliders, hubby had a Swiss burger. They were also delicious. The burgers were fresh and thick, my sliders were topped with ultra thin onion "strings".
The only thing that wasn't great was that this place is so huge and quiet, it feels a bit lonely when business is slow. We did come in after the Champagne brunch was over, though. I talked to the owner, a very nice guy. They have an awesome sit down Pac Man game! We will be back, I want to try the pulled pork sliders next time.

This place kicks ass. I'm no whiskey drinker but my bro in law is a connoisseur and he loved the huge selection.

Four words: Here Comes The Sun, (sushi roll, that is) so melt in your mouth delicious. The fish they use in their sushi/sashimi is fresh and delectable. They were spinning AMAZING music, Northern soul all night, and the not the obvious pop hits, very cool.

Snazzy decor, perfect lighting. I'll definitely be back for more.
