Cost Plus World Market

This is the only (chain) store of world market in the Hampton roads area. This store mainly focuses on home furnishings with loads of little knick-knacks. The place is rather small than what I would've expected, with tons of their larger items available right at front view. They do carry a lot of imported goods, including beer and wine. Great place to find that something small to give people for presents.  I could literally spend hours just looking through all their small stuff.  Their staffs are always nice and will greet you right away. The pricing however is not so friendly. Things can get pretty expensive, but I suppose that's normal for imported quality goods. Either way, I would definitely recommend this place!

Interesting flavors in coffee. This place is almost always packed with people so I could never find a place to sit and relax. The atmosphere is just like a real house, well technically it is a house. Located right across the street from Starbucks, this place is very quaint, homey and is just plain lovely. It's a local coffee shop with wifi. Small but clean bathroom. Cute decor. This place is so indie and a great place to lounge around in.

Only complaint is their minimum purchase charge on credit cards, making it a cash only environment. Surprisingly theres an atm sitting near the counter. How conveniently inconvenient.

Doumar's Cones & Barbecue

I love me some of that sloppy greasy food from Doumars! With that being said, their not so bad in taste-greasy uber cheap food is probably not so good for your heart. Their floats and milkshakes are the best! It's probably the only thing keeping this place running. This place is like an old school drive in spot where they serve you in your parked vehicles under a canopy. Simply flash your light so the servers know you are ready to place your order and they will get back to you within 5-10mins(depending on what you order and how busy they are) with all your goodies.

Dinning inside is a different story. They do have tables and a bar style seating. The place is always dirty. Hole in a wall. And their restroom is outside. You need a key to get in there and use it.

None-the-less, Ive always liked the service I get at doumars and I always come back once in a while, especially during the summer

El Azteca Restaurant

It's one of those same as the rest type of feel. If you have ever been to a chain Mexican restaurant around here, then you can get the same feel. This place is smaller than others, almost like a hole in a wall but with an open and new paint environment. Walking in the double doors, you can be greeted with a small hut where you would pay for your meal, but quickly to your right, a wait staff will seat you promptly as so you will not clog up the small entrance/exit way. They have quite a few booth style seating and table seating if you prefer it. The decor is your typical Mexican theme decoration with the bright yellow paint contrasted with red stripes on the wall. The place seems decently clean, but the table and floor seemed a little too sticky to me.

The food was okay. Nothing special there. It's your typical American version of Mexican food, but the fajita seemed to lack a bit of flavor and the beans was a bit cold instead of hot for me. They also had the wrong order for my gf, who wanted a fish taco but was served a beef taco. But they did apologize and replaced her meal quickly.

The service is just like all the rest, muy rapido! Very friendly, checks up on us every so often and asks if we need refills on our drinks. Price wise, they are on the more expensive side. An extra 2 dollars more for the same plate of food elsewhere. I will probably return here whenever I crave for a quick mexican food especially since their location is so convenient for me.

On the side note, they do take out orders over the phone but charges an extra quarter for every plate.

Tida Thai

4th Location of the Tida Thai restaurant chain in the Hampton Roads area! The place looks a little more modern and upscale than the original location in VA Beach. Greeted with a friendly smile, you can be sure to be seated promptly. The place is very clean, with a very fancy bathroom! The womens sink was awesome. I know, something so minuscule is the one thing I'm raving about. But you just have to see that sink! Anyways, the place is a mix of modern style atmosphere with traditional portraits on table, kind of like the other locations. Bar area separated from the main open dinning space. Booths are available with 4 tables and chair in the middle. They can catter to large parties. This place can get rather loud when there's a lot of people.

The food is as amazing as others! The pad thai was just right. The drunken noodle had too much onions and not enough noodles for my taste, but great none-the-less. As always, they serve it with a side of deep fried spring roll and a carved carrot as garnish on the entrée.

Service was fast and friendly, always with smiles. The atmosphere was acceptable, although I would prefer it not to be as loud, (nothing that they could help with the large party there). Overall, another great thai place! I especially love the fact that they opened up this one right after I moved to this side of the water! Thanks Tida Thai! Oh and another note, I do believe that they deliver within the area.

Crackers

Crackers is another rather expensive tapas house in Norfolk. Like Bardo, they serve a bunch of small portioned dishes, either Hot or Cold, and a long list of drinks. They serve IPA beers and several not so average beers. There's also a long list of Martini's & Wines.

Great for small groups, they have a bar area and a dinning area separated by one wall. This place is a bit tiny and the bar area can get even more packed very quickly.

The servers/bartenders are always great to have small chats with and are very entertaining. They'll even give you a free blowjob (shot) if it happens to be your birthday.

Over all, this place is a okay. I would've rated it better if they had better seating arrangements at the bar area and a bigger parking lot . The location is rather tiny and a bit hard to get into.

Make sure you come fully funded, as like all tapas houses, it does add up quickly!

Meh. Is basically all I can say. Went in here on a Sunday because I was craving froyo and it happened to be the only froyo place opened till 8-9pm on a Sunday on this side of the water.

The place is pretty new, located right across pho79 in the trader joes shopping center area. The shopping center is all new so its pretty clean and a nice environment to be around in. Reminds me of Landstown Commons area in VA Beach.

Inside they have a few tables on the left and a bar type seating in front window. The froyo machines are at the back and the toppings to follow on the right side.  The froyo's are bland and are not very exciting on their own. Toppings were inside a covered area, with your usual suspects. Their brownies are uber tiny, it was like a spec of chocolate. However, they did have mochis, which were pretty tasty. Froyo taste and topping selection makes this place an even 2 stars.

They do have a loyalty card in which you purchase and get stamped 12 times, you get a 12oz froyo free! Pretty good deal I guess, but I dont see myself coming back here any time soon. LoveInACup has better tasting froyo and YoMama in VA Beach still serves the best and most toppings!

Pho 78 Vietnamese Restaurant

My favorite Pho place! Yes, I know it's not the greatest pho, (personally I feel like their taste and quality had slipped down from the previous years) their food is still pho-esque. The owner of this place is hilarious. He's such a hater. If you don't tip or tip well, he will talk about you, just a fair warning. On occasion, they do forget to refill your water, so just be prepared to ask for it especially if you use a lot of sriracha. The owner and servers are Vietnamese so there is some language barrier there.

As for the food, their chicken pho was always my favorite. They do serve Com Suon with prawns and their bi cuon is amazing! At least back when I use to be able to eat pork, it was my number one choice for appetizer then my pho ga. Prices is muy cheap also. I always suggest this place for some quick cheap grub.

El Tapatio Mexican Grill & Bar

This location is a branch off of the "El Tapatio" in Virginia Beach area. I believe this would be the 3rd El Tapatio in Hampton Roads and the 4th in the same chain. I've only gone here a few times and they have yet to disappoint me. The place is newly renovated from the old "Cheers" restaurant.  It was pretty empty when we came here during lunch time but I would imagine that their service would be the same. The wait staff here doesn't speak very clear English, but they understand your requests. Just try not to make sarcastic jokes at them because they don't quite understand them. They are always fast and attentive, with quick water refills.

The food is your typical food from an ordinary fast Mexican restaurant place but it's just perfect to me.  They have an extensive menu to pick from.  Overall, this place is A-Okay! Good fast Mexican food.

My favorite hibachi grill jap house in Norfolk. Great atmosphere, great food, good service! Friendly servers and chef, and OH! Awesome sushi! A bit on the pricey side of things, but well worthed! A bit off place for me as far as location, and somewhat saltier but oh so tasty hibachi. I would recommend this place for a quick sushi date. Then coldstone right next door after :)
