Del Taco
Categories: Fast Food, Tex-Mex
Neighborhoods: Union Square, SOMA
So, I've heard Kevin Rose and Alex Albrecht debate Del Taco and Taco Bell and I figured I had to try Del Taco while I was in SF. Del Taco is nothing like Taco Bell (aside form the fact that their both fast food tacos). I like Del Taco because it feels healthier than Taco Bell, but that may just be because sauces don't come from a caulking gun.
I got the big fat chicken taco combo. The thick flour tortilla and the lighter sauce wasn't what I expected but was a welcome change from what I'm used to at Taco Bell. The combo comes with fries and a drink. While I love fries, I don't see how they fit in at a taco place. (They also have hamburgers which kinda weirds me out.)
Overall, I really enjoyed Del Taco but it's too soon to say if I side with Kevin or Alex on the fast food taco debate.

San Francisco Museum of Modern Art

SF MOMA currently has an Ansel Adams and Georgia O'Keeffe exhibit as well as Robert Frank's "The Americans". For me these two exhibits are worth the price of admission. I'm not a fan of Pollock and that school of abstract modern art but SF MOMA also has a lot of surrealist pieces and interesting sculptures and displays. The rooftop patio is a nice place to relax and grab a coffee and a small bite to eat.

Lori's Diner
Category: Diners
I had seen a few Lori's Diner locations while I was in SF but never when I was hungry. Waiting for my flight home, it was the best looking option in this food court at the United terminal so I figured I'd finally give it a try.
Verdict:
Not too bad but I did just get a BLT to it's hard to judge.
Great fun if you like a good gimmick.

The line of tourists is long but it moves fairly quickly. If you like water with your ice cream, don't buy it there's free water to be had beyond the register. If you don't like lines or people there's another Ghirardelli ice cream stand nearby. Explore the square for a few minutes and you'll find it.

North Beach Pizza
Category: Pizza
Neighborhood: Fisherman's Wharf
I'm not sure why this place is worthy of a recommendation, maybe other locations are better. With her not feeling great and mt not super hungry we decided so split a pizza instead of getting the buffet. You would think they're making lots of cheese pizzas for this buffet and the one we ordered should be out fairly quickly. We waited at probably at least 20 min for our pizza. when it arrived it was nothing special. The sauce was a little different, not good or bad different, just different.
There are so many other options on the Pier, find something else.

Canto Do Brasil Restaurant
Categories: Latin American, Brazilian
Neighborhoods: Hayes Valley, Civic Center/Tenderloin
Not long after I got my meal the lights dimmed a couple times and loud tropical music was pumped through the tiny restaurant. I immediately realized I had the WORST seat in the house for to see the samba dancers. They knew it though and came over to make sure I was able to see. They were having problems with the music that night. Twice it cut out in the middle of a song but the dancers kept on going.
While I wasn't overly impressed with my meal, I still had a much more enjoyable time at dinner this night than the night before when I spent twice as much. When I'm back in SF, I'll be back at Canto Do Brasil.

The layout of the building is, to say the least, a little weird. Normally I know where I am and have a very good sense of direction but there were a couple times when I had no idea where I was, how I got there, and how I never noticed that area earlier. I wanted to see the 3D show but was only able to find the ticket counter for the planetarium.
