This place has become the wife and I's weekend breakfast standard. They aren't too busy on the Friday AM, the food is your typical diner fare, and the diner car itself has to be one of the most authentic I've ever seen. We've also been able to do breakfast for both of us on the super-cheap, so we love that these days.
When we first arrived the host was MIA. When we were finally seated, I pretty much decided that this place was IDENTICAL to Iron Hill - with a little lighter color scheme. This is a brew pub, so come planning on getting the beer. The food was good, but like I said, bank on the beer. We were there for the Mojito Monday deal, and that was pretty good, but really, I would only be there for the beer. I really liked the beer I got (their French Spring Ale) so I got a growler. It spilled on the way home. Doh. But, like I said, try their beer. They also have an "underground" area with pool tables and such. I wasn't able to check that out.
I'm not an expert on Cuban cuisine, but I've had it before. I'm a huge fan of the pickle and mustard on sandwich combo. But this time I decided to try out a traditional Cuban rice mixup dish. I forget what my dish was called :-( . I mixed it all up with the beans and rice and man, it hit the spot. My date had a rellenos dish that was simply amazing, and not like anything I'd had before (that I could remember, at least).
The yucca and plantains were definitely the best I've ever had. I've been raving about this place ever since I got back to the philly scene.

MMMMM. In the area for a little bit I found this place here on yelp. It was a great suggestion! My date and I were in for the sushi, so we didn't get to taste the thai side of the menu. But the sushi and rolls we had were absolutely delightful. We left stuffed and happy, the way it should be!
They had a great relaxed atmosphere with friendly service. They're booths are also the kind that you have to take off your shoes and sit cross legged. I love them, but I know not everyone is into that, so they do mostly have normal tables.

I like to make burgers. When I make burgers I like to season the meat, then add toppings. This place forgets about the meat and lets you pick from a slew of toppings. The end result is that you get a slab of tasteless meat with some really awesome toppings. And that is THE only draw of this place for me.
Besides the many many toppings, they also have many many varieties and flavors for sodas and milkshakes.
Oh and the onion rings were good.

You have to be really big into wine to really get the full effect of this place. Alas, I am more into beer. (Though I could be persuaded). This place is essentially a wine bar with some decent food. The night I was here There was an OK jazz duo keep the atmosphere real low key. My date and I really enjoyed the wine and the food. The food schema is new and interesting and well done. Instead of appetizers and entrees and blah blah blah... they have sizes: small medium and large. I got two smalls and my date got one medium. To me the food was a bit bland and was reaching for something greater than it was but just fell short. However, the small portions were just right for me and I felt full, but not gorged. A feeling I'm finding rare as of late. This place is a must-drink if you're a big wino... or want to impress your date with a new, interesting and well thought out menu, otherwise you could probably do better.

This place is a great little mom and pop place right near where I work. I happened to check it out by chance and was pleasantly surprised. It has the atmosphere and charm that you might expect from a local little diner, but the crowd was there for lunch. I had a great pizza that didn't kill my wallet. This is a place I'd definitely recommend for a great everyday kind of meal.
The crowds flock to this place and I don't blame them. The food we ordered was not only good, but you could tell that they paid special attention to the prep and ingredients. I had an amazing open-faced egg sandwich with redpeppers and cheese and my lovely date had the most amazing french toast.
This place is only open from 6am to 3pm, so finding an un-crowded time is tough and we were seated elbow to elbow, so plan on being flexible if you have more than 2 people in your group.

While tramping up and down the mainline there's all kinds of Chinese places, the good the bad the ugly. But every once and awhile you come across little gems like Margaret Kuo's. Kuo's chinese is high end like PF Changs, but you can rest assured you're eating locally.
I ate here as a young lad for the Chinese New Year feast, and that was amazing, if you ever get a chance I highly recommend it. But more recently I ate Ox tail for the first time here. It was an interesting food experience to say the least, but I really enjoyed it.
The atmosphere is soothing comfortable and nice. This is a great place for a nice date with both exotic and everyday Chinese food.

They also have an outstanding beer selection that includes three rotating hand-pumped ales. And that ladies and gentlemen, is my favorite kind. (in case you were wondering).
