after sushi and a few bottles of sake nearby.
Slick and laid back, this spot could easily be transported
to our SOMA neighborhood back home in Sf.
This area of Midtown balances the perfect mix of young hip bars
and restaurants all within a stones' throw of each other.
I can't speak for the food as our group only had a few rounds of cocktails.
Service was on point, my mojito was perfectly executed each time.
And the boys just "HAD" to indulge in a few long islands.
(they were on the menu who could ignore that)
The booths were plush, and we mingled and watched
the crowd at the bar bathed in deep blue ambient lighting.
Zero-7 whispered softly in the background.
I've heard brunch is quite the scene as well.
Hopefully I will get to visit again. . .

Mr. V suggested this spot after we browsed and drank and danced
at Indie Mart which was hosted at nearby Parkside.
I loved everything about the Indie Mart event, except the
30min wait for food ordered from the kitchen.
My only requests as we changed venues:
A patio-so we could keep enjoying the lovely sunny day.
A bar with(good) food items.
I ordered another margarita, and we split the pulled pork sandwich
while enjoying the sun in the patio outback. The sandwich was perfect! Slow roasted pork and a nice not too sweet, not too vinegar sauce. Other menu options include standard bar fare, grilled chicken salads and sandwiches. Fries, burgers and a nice offering of beers.
The communal style picnic tables allow you to meet and converse with your neighbors. There is also enough space if you simply want to have a one-on-one conversation or make out session with your fave boy or girl. As the weather warms up this place is a great alternative to the too crowded Zeitgeist-if you're willing to make the trek. . .
P.S. the 22 stops right outside, a plus for safe drinking :)
Summer solstice, the longest day of the year.
Mr. V and I took a nice stroll through the Mission, and out to Potrero.
Thee Parkside was the place to be for the 2nd Anniversary
of Indie Mart. The drinks were good and strong,
and the Djs were fantastic. Bands, organic treats, and lovely
crafts/clothing/jewlery by local artists.
The event hosted at Parkside, and Wisconsin St.
was closed to traffic making this a full fledged
dance-in-the-streets-with-your-margarita-and-your-little dog-streetfair.
Kelly Malone is one badass chick!
Not only did she pull off one of my fave Indie Mart events so far,
she also kept us updated through twitter.
Support local merchants!
Do yourself a favor and make it to the next event, you are sure to enjoy. . .
I was lucky enough to sample the cookies and cream, and cinnamon and sugar cookies when my lovely roomie brought home a box.
Paired very well with a cold frothy glass of soymilk. . .

I've indulged twice this past week.
Small Original Tart w/lychees.
AMAZING!
I'm starting to adore this fro yo consistency also.
Very dense and tart, not too creamy or runny like some.
The lovely shop-girl even asked if I wanted extra lychee
juice spooned atop my yummy treat.
The kinks in service efficiency have been worked out.
Every time I've gone in even if there is only one person working
she is always quick and friendly with a smile on her face.
Perfect after a long day in an overheated hot office. . .

SoGreen, how about So Overrated.
I work a few blocks away so it was no problem for me to stop in the morning of the grand opening and make it to my weekly meeting scheduled at 8:30. Or so I thought, let's just say the grand opening was nothing short of a disaster. The opening was delayed by about 10 mins due to a problem with one of the menu screens. I could see the owner buzzing around and he seemed very stressed out. He should have just apologized for the inconveniences early on. We understand, it's your first day of business, we'll cut you some slack. I believe his stress was definitely transferred to his staff. Lots of employees on hand, but most of them were very overwhelmed and had no idea of what to do.
Two people to ring me up? One person to pull the machine handle then the cup gets weighed before being handed off to another employee for toppings?! This is madness! I ended up waiting 15minutes for one small fro-yo! When I finally did have my sweet treat in hand I was impressed. This is a very nice product. I got a small strawberry with kiwi pieces. As other reviews have noted the yogurt is sweet yet has a tart finish. And the consistency paired with the temperature feels wonderful on the tongue. Not at all worth the wait if your taking a quick break from work. If your going to do business in the FIDI where time is money then you have to be 'on your game'. And you SoGreen have a long way to go. . .

more exposed skin and more time in the sun.
Factor in a few BBQs and weekend rooftop drinking
which causes more than its share of dehydration.
My skin has started a revolt.
I have mild eczema which rarely flares up.
This season my skin seems to be a bit more dryer than usual.
The Shea butter lotion just isn't cutting it like it used to.
I wanted to avoid the topical steroids usually prescribed by
dermatologists, so I decided to turn to Eva for her expert advice.
Eva needled a few key points to help promote calming of the skin
and reduce itching. She also prescribed Oil of Evening Primrose
which can be ingested in capsule form or applied topically.
The small little patches are just about gone, and my skin is happy. . .

Oh, I never get sick. . . .

The mini umbrella stuck in my cute clutch purse was hardly
a match for the torrential downpour we encountered saturday
night making our way from the Stockton/Sutter garage to meetup
with a group at a lively bar on O'Farrell. The boots I wore that night
were cute but not really rain-ready and due to my tendency to overheat
after a few adult beverages I went without my fave 'go everywhere'
warm and cozy cashmere scarf. The moral of this story kids
is that now I have the sniffles and am not a happy camper :(
Eva to the rescue!
Eva prescribed an herbal compound with the main ingredient
being bai jie zi here's the description:
warms the lungs; eliminates phlegm; moves Qi; disperses
nodules; promotes circulation in the channels; calms pain;
After 48hours of regular herb doses, spicy thai soup takeout
and trashy "celebrity" dating shows I'm on my way to wellness. . . -

Last night was the open house at the
fabulous new 2 room location on Valencia.
The new digs are fantastic!
Warm earthy tones and lots of light and space.
The interior has such a zen-like spa feel. It was fun to
mingle and chat with all the friends, family and patients of
Honeybee Acupuncture. I had fun conversations with young and old.
Gay and straight. Married and single. Hipsters and hippies.
Such a true representation of not only the flavors and colors
that make up our Mission neighborhood, but also our wonderful
and eclectic city of Sf.

+10 stars!!!!
I have recently been dealing the terrible lost of a close friend.
Eva has gone out of her way to be very supportive and offer her services.
Recently she presented me with a new herbal supplement.
Here is the description from the bottle:
Heart Support Flower Essence (30 ml)
Aids in issues connected with the heart including the trauma associated with heart problems, or shock to the heart chakra due to grief or crisis in relationships. It it also supportive during times of major life changes.
A few drops helped to calm my racing thoughts and I was able to have sound sleep for the first time in a few days. Such a thoughtful and caring professional. I'm lucky to have Eva in my life. . . -

A fantastic experience!
A few weeks ago I was starting to come down with the flu :(
I rarely get sick, let's blame it on too much end of the year partying.
I was able to see Eva on short notice. Her bedside manner was very professional, her touch was extremely gentle, and she presents herself with a relaxed down-to-earth demeanor. All of this is very calming to a person about to get stuck by needles! After a quick assessment of symptoms and review of my health history, I was on my back in a cozy harmonious loft space which serves as Evas' clinic. I've received acupuncture many times before,
and let me just say once again that Eva is fantastic!
I fell asleep on the table and awoke after treatment feeling refreshed with a nice energy buzzing throughout my body. My symptoms were gone in two days and everyone at work was amazed with my speedy recovery. Eva is also a herbalist. Next up in our treatment phase is overall detox.

On its website, this place touts itself as a romantic,
charming, small restaurant and that is exactly what is was.
I found out that during the late 1880's this was the site of
Sf's very first amusement park. Owned by two women,(love that!)
Dana Tommasino, and Margie Conard.
Dana runs the wonderfully quirky food blog figments: http://figmentspot.blo.../
The daily menu changes a bit due to the availability of fresh
ingredients, below were the offerings the evening of our visit
We shared:
-A plate of castlevetrano olives(olive oil was wonderful with bread)
-Dungeness crab salad with roasted Coke Farm beets, avocado, watercress, lime cream and shallots.
-A lovely bottle of Ojai Rose
-The grilled lamb loin chop with merguez sausage and fennel
potato gratin with olives de provence and charmoula
-The Long cooked devil's Gulch pork shoulder with corona bean
ragout and frisee with oranges and kumquats.
We ended with the Scharffenberger bittersweet
DOUBLE CHOCOLATE tart with bosc pears and whipped cream
Did I mention that the chocolate tart was not just chocolate, but
DOUBLE CHOCOLATE!?
This place is without a doubt added to the 'Grown and Sexy' list. . .

I'm slowly falling in _.O.V.E with this place.
We stopped in quickly to decompress after work before
heading out to dinner. A great, funky and cute crowd
much like the neighborhood. Lots of daily happy hour specials
and as always comfy booths and friendly barkeeps.
I totally man-browsed on the DL and noticed that there were
many cute single boys in attendance(tuesday night)
I totally wanted to call one of my very fun and very
single BFFs' to meet us and scope out the scene.
But alas, we were only there for one round :(
Next time I'll drag her along. . . .

Stopped in here early saturday evening after a nice walk
through the city and took advantage of the quiet atmosphere
and chill vibe. A friend and I had a somewhat in depth conversation
that needed the help of a few 'adult beverages' :)
The happy hour specials were just what I needed.
Both of the bartenders were very attentive, and we tipped them well.
The current art installation features artists involved with NoisePop.
You will like:
The cozy and modern interior.
The comfy booths.
The back lounge.
The separate ladies room.
I'm a fan. . .

Warm, candlelit atmosphere.
A boy.
A girl.
After dinner drinks and nibbles for the sweet tooth.
We slid into the plush booths just before the end
of happy hour. Yummy white sangria for $3,
full of crisp apples, pears, and oranges slices.
We shared:
the cheesecake-
wonderfully rich perched atop a crisp nutty hemp seed brittle
with blackberries, and mango sorbet.
the chocolate cremeux cake-
a dense bittersweet chocolate cloud of heaven topped with
a tasty black currant sauce and a dollop of thyme ice cream.
When did they start stocking decks of cards and board games?
(Yahtzee, CANDYLAND, and UNO)
I didn't notice the shelves on my previous visit, but this was
a fun way to flirt a little and interact. Or just an excuse to stay
around and order another glass of sangria.
Drops of rain pitter-pattering across the windows while
'In a Sentimental Mood' (Duke Ellington/John Coltrane)
reverberated throughout the cozy space.
A lovely tuesday evening. . .

Perfect for a Girls Night Out.
The layout includes plush pillowy benches and soft ottomans
which add to the lounge-y vibe. One thing we noticed:
The staff is all male!(or it was on the evening we stopped in)And can be described as very metro(maybe very Castro)very friendly and chill. Items ordered by a our party SAVORY: the stuffed zucchini blossoms w/ shrimp mousse, beef cheeks in chocolate w/caramelized onion broth. Both got the thumbs up. SWEET: chocolate cannelone w/vanilla bean ice cream, chocolate sheets, and the vanilla brioche w/spiced cherries & feta ice cream. As noted by other reviewers the brioche is without a doubt the standout dessert dish on the menu. Only complaint is that since these are small plates it wasn't that fun to share in such a large group.
A few ladies ordered ports and one or two had the Malbec as their drink of choice. I enjoyed the the tangy and slightly spicy flavor of one of the specialty cocktails. I can't remember the name but it consists of a Prosecco with either a green tea or ginger syrup. Very refreshing, try it!
After a few cocktails I couldn't help but to sing along to the Estelle cd playing in the background. Service was slow at times, but we didn't feel neglected. We left satisfied, this was a great ending to a fun night out, thanks Mrs. M-L for organizing. . .

I've dined/danced/drank at Circa now about 3 times.
Once for happy hour-awesome!
Once for drinks/dancing during "club hours" on a saturday evening
for a great friends' Bday.
And once for the bottomless mimosa brunch.
This particular afternoon was sunny and warm.
Light streamed in and filled the airy space.
A mix of top40 and house played in the background.
Patrons milled about drinking, having spirited conversations
eating, and carafes of mimosas sat on just about every table.
Ladies, I must say that if you are a single girl or a girl with single friends
this is a great place to chat up a few guys in a fun, no pressure atmosphere.
Everything we sampled was great, in my opinion the
best bet for brunch is the benedict sampler.
We(my single gfs) were even able to transfer our bottomless order to the bar area to watch the game(um, yeah right!)and chat up a group of nice boys :p
Mimosas/shots/mimosas make for a funday, sunday.
Oh, and Misty(Misti?)at the main bar is one fly chick. . .
