I had a similar experience to Carrie. I sat down and was waiting for my friends for quite awhile, and it had to be like 20 minutes before someone approached me. While after about 10 minutes, I figured out it wasn't waiter service, it definitely had an awkward feel.

That said, it has a total neighborhood feeling to it. Loved that part of it. And the food was EXCELLENT. I had a great egg scramble, with an unusual combination. I was talking to one of the chefs, and he said he often changes it around based on customer requests, which I thought was really cool. And all of the food is organic.

Availability for outdoor seating, which is nice too...

I love my meat, but even a carnivore like me can find lots to be happy with at WaterCourse. I've gone here for lunch and brunch, and been really pleased each time. I really am not the healthiest of eaters, but I think WaterCourse really manages to make food good without the trans-fat, refined sugar and meat (that I love).

I get the Firenze scramble, and it was really tasty. I've never been hungry enough for dessert, but they have stuff that looks to die for.

The service is awesome. Our server was so nice that when we ran into him the same weekend at the Great American Beer Festival, he was like an old friend.

We needed a brunch spot open at 8:30 am, and this was the place!

As Jess H. said very 80's and very traditional diner MINUS the grease.  They had much healthier options than your typical diner (maybe b/c it's close to the hospitals?).  My friend got the sweet potato waffles, and it was pretty delicious. I had blueberry pancakes with granola, and it was good too. Prices were excellent though : )

It's pretty nondescript. I've driven by it dozens of times and never even noticed it.

Don't forget - No alcohol.

My last run in with a sewing machine was in 8th grade home ec, and Sean who sat next to me finished most of my projects. I am not crafty in the least, but I yearn to know how to sew, so I signed up for the sewing 101 class.

I was very pleasantly surprised when not only did I not run my finger under the needle but also managed to complete a nifty little zipper bag. I left excited about my inner Martha Stewart, and also signed up for the alteration class on my way out.

They also have knitting and needlework classes if you have no desire to learn how to sew.

Marrakesh Restaurant

I went here with my godmother for lunch, and we both got the buffet.

I don't know what it is about buffets, but somehow I don't feel like I've gotten my money's worth until I've eaten myself sick. Somehow if I don't consume about three times my normal daily calorie intake, then I feel like I'm wasting my money. Which in a word is disgusting.

That said, if you're going to eat yourself sick, this is as of good place as any to do it. The buffet had a wide variety of choices, but sadly nothing involved curry. I'll eat anything with curry on it, so I was a bit sad about this aspect. But as the owner pointed out, it just makes the place smell. He also made a point to check in with us several times to see how things were going. You could tell he took a lot of pride in his business.

The atmosphere is well...festive and full of pillows and Moroccan-type stuff.

"Though any great chef can prepare fantastic meals with a knife and a few pots, white people believe that they need a full cadre of appliances and gadgets in their kitchen in order to live up to the pressure." - Stuff White People Like blog

I have an absolute thing for useless kitchen gadgets. Chocolate fountain? Check. Ice cream maker? Check. Four different kind of bundt pans? Check.

It's what makes Peppercorn one of my favorite places on earth. I mean they have an entire wall dedicate to placemats and napkins. I believe they also have the largest cookbook selection in Colorado. I could be making that up. Essentially they sell everything you'd want to put in a  high-end kitchen.

The staff is very knowledgeable and will help with your random cooking questions and requests.

You know how every child has Willy Wonka fantasies? This is probably as close as you're going to get (minus the whole creepy tunnel. And Violet blowing up as a blueberry).

This candy store has EVERYTHING you could possibly want. If you're craving a classic candy from your childhood, they have it. I didn't even know Razzles really existed outside of "13 going on 30." They have gourmet chocolates like Lindt and Chocolove, an entire Cadbury wall, a wall of gummies and candies, truffles, gelato and seasonal candy.

If you have a sweet tooth, this is a definite MUST.

Tee & Cakes

I found about Tee & Cakes flipping through Flickr accounts and e-mailed the photographer to get the name of the place.

Cute atmosphere, right off of Pearl Street and a bunch of different kinds of cupcakes! I tried the white-on-white, chocolate, red velvet and mint chocolate. I loved everything but the red velvet as it left a funny taste in my mouth. Ick. You should definitely try the mint chocolate if you get a chance. The cake is sooooo moist and the frosting is light and frothy.

In addition to cupcakes, they have a variety of pastries that looked pretty amazing, coffee and sandwiches. They also do special occasion cake, and I heard someone ordering their wedding cake.

Service was excellent and very friendly. I messed up the order of things and tried to order my iced coffee at the cash register instead of when I ordered my cupcakes, and they were really friendly about it.

They only have about 8 tables, so it's definitely not a place for groups.

Went here with the Yelp crew for 5280 Restaurant Week.

We started with chips and guac, which was fresh. Not table side fresh but as close as you could get to it. I also got a mango mojito, which was pretty terrific except for the fact it was $10. I'd be lying if I told you it was $10 good. Fair disclosure though that I'm still at the point in my life that good means it has a whopping amount of liquor for the price.

With restaurant week, you get to pick choices from a preselected menu, and I ordered the ceviche, salmon and chocolate kahula flan. It's always better with flan.

Tamayo has an amazing second floor balcony, so if its warm try to get seats out there.

Devil's Food

If you're looking for a place to go Sunday morning after you finished nursing your hangover from Wash Park Grill, then you have found a friend in the Devil's Food Bakery.

Cute, shabby chic atmosphere. A little cramped, so I wouldn't bring more than 4 people here. Random vintage-y windows to accentuate the shabby chic vibe. A decent waiting area, which is nice b/c there will most likely be a wait on the weekends.

I asked if we could walk around since it was a 35 minute wait, and she told me that she would give away my table if I wasn't there. I asked if we came back in 20 minutes would we be safe, and she said just so you know, if you're not here I'll gave away your seats. Alrighty....so I guess I'll take a seat.

Food was delicious and totally reasonably priced. I got the omelet (of course) with grilled peppers, tomato and portabella mushrooms. I luuuved how they had a side salad as an option as I despise hash browns. DESPISE hash browns.

The best part was that I got the Devil's Food Donut, which is devil's food cake double dipped in chocolate ganache and striped with white chocolate (web site description).
