HOW COULD THIS BE MY VERY FIRST VISIT?
(shh-This may be one of the best veg hideouts in the city.)
the Gyros- cucumber sauce- edges in for 3rd favorite sandwich ever!
(1st Chicago Diner's Reuben, 2nd Handlebar's buffalo chicken wrap)
banana cupcake with chocolate and cherries- incredible.
(oh and gluten free options too!)
No question of my return! Only wish it was closer. :(

"All the sauces have a chicken base" says the super sweet server.
And I thought all Italian restaurants were veg-friendly.
I learn something every day...
Sigh.
Plus- Gluten Free pizza/beer/brownies, and vegan brownies too.
My girlfriends and I took the afternoon off from work and drove out from the city to Naperville just for this- and those sky high expectations?
EXCEEDED.
Please move to the city?

Cousin's Incredible Vitality
Categories: Vegetarian, Greek, Mediterranean
Neighborhood: Irving Park
1. being acknowledged 2. seated 3. menus 4. and yes, water
::Especially::
at 9pm dinner on a Friday night when anything can make me cranky, Cousin's breaking not 1, not 2, but all 4 put me in A MOOD, and no I don't mean I felt like turning the lights down low.
And yet- 4 stars?
But of course- the food-
incredible in flavor and feeling and for raw? even affordable.
You know when people say "hey man, this is RAW" as in tight- awesome- fantastic. Well, they were talking about Cousin's.
Made my whole body feel happy and awesome.
PLUS an $8 lunch/$10 dinner all you can eat buffet.
9.5 Ph'd water (I have no idea what that means but yay!)
AND coconut blueberry raw cheesecake.
My favorites?
The maki, flax pizzas, and Tamale with mango salad.
And the during dinner service? Like rainbows. And moon beams. Wonderful.

iCream
Categories: Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt, Coffee & Tea
Neighborhood: Wicker Park
This place is all about experience, customizing, and OPTIONS.
& I'm so proud of them for reopening after a premature start, so. proud.
I had:
blueberry soy ice cream
with fresh blueberries & graham crackers.
It reminded me of the best bowl of coldest cereal ever.
(but that probably says more about the way I eat my cereal.)
Anyway, the Deal is...
1. TONS of vegan options: ice cream, smoothies, and hot pudding!
2. TONS of sugar free options: choose the natural sugar alternative!
3. TONS of sweetness and real gosh darn love from the peeps here.
NOTE: don't be misled by my vegan-focused review,
this place offers all types of dairy ice cream too
(though I think you'd love the soy stuff- you adventurer you!)
Oh, and the defacto sweetener is liquid cane juice.
(in my best Ahnold voice)... I'll be bahck.
My first cavier EVAH. (yes, vegan-how did they DO that?!)
+ the best pizza my (omnivore) dad has ever had. EVAH.
(okay is that EVAH getting annoying? Sorry.)
PLUS owner Nanci donates all the net profits, and has run her own group for 20 years. TWENTY YEARS! I was learning cursive 20 years ago. FAB!

Ahhh, IF ONLY all green bowls were as tasty and well designed as Stir Crazy's (Salmon) Mango Salad, I substitute wok-tossed TOFU for that fish, it includes HUGE chunks of mango, almonds, and other gifts from ms. nature to you. Sighhhh (one of those big long out of satisfaction Sighs.)
but what's this? you aren't feeling the S today? lots of other vegan options, my friend. just you wait and see...
And this? You aren't interested in veg food at all? No worries-- tons of carnivorous options for you as well, my friend.
Yes, delicious for everyone- the perfect 'burban meet-up lunch. YAY.
Date

Besides that so-so John Cusack movie
I didn't know it existed but---YES--
I got here- opened the menu- and said AHA!
Dharma Garden Vegetarian Thai... found me?
Here's the story- driving nearly-passed-out-husband post Cubs game
to a party on the north side, passed Cousin's, and said
"I'm in the mood for Thai...ah there! They look open."
Parked, walked in, not much atmosphere, opened menu-
WHAAA? Vegan chicken or duck with- everything?
Flip back the menu- where are we? AHH YES.
The last veg restaurant on my list to try. I don't believe it.
Thank my lucky stars! How did they guide me here?
Food- wonderful. Had the orange sesame veg chicken-
it has purple yam tempura mixed in. PURPLE YAM.
Comes with Purple Rice- like the kind that makes your skin glow.
Also- the Massaman Sweet Potato Curry with Vegan Duck.
$9 per? Really? That's all? Delicious large portions. Wonderful prices.
You know what they say- when it's meant to be... it's meant to be? It is.
