My all-time favorite hotel. This one is a gem in busy NYC. The Library Hotel not only brings the library theme to life in every room, but the hotel transforms your day with its feeling of unhurried serenity. I did not want to check out. Hoping to get back to NY soon so I can revisit the Library Hotel.
I used Monkey Joe's for my son's 5th birthday. While, the kids seemed to have a great time, I did not. I will not host another party there. Compared to other birthday party locations, Monkey Joe's needs to work on organization and customer service. The party "helpers" were not helpful. They failed to have any system to organize the kids. Party check-in was complete chaos and I ended up getting charged for two extra kids from someone else's party. The pizza failed to arrive on time so our party ran very late. The inept teen-age party "helper" did not have any sense of organization, serving skills or know how to entertain or deal with children.
When you shell out the big bucks for this type of service, you're expecting the place to manage the details. Monkey Joe's is not that type of place. I felt completely ripped off and I'm sure the parents who brought their kids were unimpressed as well.

I stayed at the Ace Hotel during a business conference. This boutique hotel has a very non-descript entrance, but overall I found it to be very clean and the staff very helpful. This isn't a business hotel, but it does have reliable, free wifi and an on-site ATM. The hotel is just a few blocks from the Bell Harbor conference center.
The Ace decor is minimalist mixed with some quirky northwest wood elements. Reading material in my room included both the Bible and a Kama Sutra pillow book. It seems that each room is a little different in terms of decor and layout. My room reminded me a bit of a dorm room outfitted from IKEA, but it was functional. Maid service is by request and a light breakfast was available.
The negative for me was a large staircase to the lobby which is daunting when you're hauling luggage.

Wild Ginger Asian Restaurant & Satay Bar

While attending a conference in Seattle, I had business dinner at Wild Ginger with a group of six. Our waiter was exceptional and made terrific suggestions.
The food is served family style, and our group shared both vegetarian and meat dishes. The biggest hits were the squash and sweet potato stew, 7 flavor beef, 7 flavor tofu and the monk's curry. For dessert, the coconut gelato got rave reviews.

I had a fabulous business dinner at Dominic's on the Hill. I would highly recommend this upscale restaurant if you're looking to share the flavors of St. Louis with an out-of-town guest.
The service is excellent and not overbearing. The food was delightful and managed to please all six in our group except one who is a vegetarian.
This would be a great place for a special dinner or celebration. My experience was on a weekday and the restaurant was not busy. It was easy to get reservations the day before.

Re-review:
My family gave our local Chevy's another try and had a much better experience. This time there was no waiting for seating or service. The waitress and other staff were very prompt to bring fresh chips, refill drinks and clear dishes. The food was delivered with the correct orders and piping hot.

I don't think I could have been any more disappointed by my last experience at Chevy's. We walked in to an empty hostess station and should have walked right back out.
Once we were greeted, we were quickly seated but then waited another 10 minutes for the waiter to acknowledge our existence. When the drinks arrived they had apparently forgotten how to secure the kids' cup lids so it ended up dumped.
The food arrived quickly but one of the orders and was about what you'd expect from this chain. Can't say I'm eager to give this one another try.

Ed Napleton Honda

This dealership has serviced my Honda Odyssey for 6 years. I've always found the service department to be professional and reliable. Recently, my transmission failed just past warranty. While the initial assessment was pretty grim, the dealership stepped up and replaced the transmission and even extended the warranty. It's nice to see a company stand behind its product. I would buy another Honda at Ed Napleton in St. Peters.

European styled hotel ... which translates into very tiny bathrooms and elevators. Aside from that, I had no complaints. The staff was friendly and helpful even with a midnight check in. Our room had a King with a separate sitting room with pull out couch. HDTVs in both rooms. The room was clean although the bathroom smelled a little moldy.
Location is right next door to Hancock Building and Water Tower Place. Reasonable rates.

Mimi's Cafe

Love it! I could go on all day about the brunch menu and the MUFFINS! Yes, they are the size of your head. But OH SO GOOD! There's enough variety on their menu to please a whole group of people, including the small fries. This Chesterfield location is non-smoking ... another big plus when you have kids with asthma. If you want to eat healthy, they have quite a few options and you can substitute easily. Consistent service and great food even when they are busy.
