I loved it when it was just a good old fashioned ice cream stand. It still is, but there's also a driving range, pitch and put, and bumper boats during the season! The ice cream is delicious, and made without the artificial coloring or flavoring (Kahlua Crunch is made with real Kahlua).
The downside; very popular, especially on weekend. I remember working there on Sundays in July with two employees on each window, and the lines would be pouring out into the parking area. On these days, be prepared to wait up to an hour standing in line.
My favorite time to stop by Kimball's is in the fall, when they start serving apple crisp. Add a scoop of the fall season's pumpkin ice cream, and I'm in heaven.
As much as I enjoy little ice cream parlors in Boston and other cities, I think the best way to enjoy a "Sundae Drive" is through the outdoor experience that an ice stand gives you.
It's even a little bit of a tourist attraction with a live alligator pit!
The downside: very popular, so be prepared for a long wait list.
It's a great place to sit down and eat with friends, or grab a slice as you travel around the downtown area.
It's got a great atmosphere, and even pays a little tribute to the old establishment in it's decorations. It's a younger crowd, so in about 3 or 4 years, I'll start feeling a little out of place going there. But for college kids, it's really a convenient social spot.
Still, I think everyone who stops in Savannah should stop by and have a beer in the bar where Jimmy Carter supposedly announced his candidacy for President!

For drinks, I recommend the Zombie.
For food, I recommend the lobster bisque (better than Legal Seafood).
The one downside - it's hard to find! It's hidden off Mass Ave on Green Street. The building looks like a hole in the wall, and the plastic sign with a Budweiser logo would lead one to believe that it's a regular dive bar (it's far from that).
