I'm a vegetarian, and I'm allergic to soy. At most Thai restaurants, it's impossible for me to get something I can eat. The people at Pacific Thai have served me up the tastiest vegetarian creations, and I'm never left picking shreds of meat out of it (an all too common experience elsewhere.)
It's not just good for the vegetarians. My other half is an avowed carnivore, as well as obsessed with Thai food. He rates Pacific Thai as one of his top Thai experiences.
It has great ambience (yes, it is obvious they are using the furniture from when it was an Italian place, but it is solid, attractive and comfortable), and it's super cheap. Obviously other locals have figured this out, because whenever I go, it's full.

The staff is always friendly to me. I haven't had the problems others complain of. Of course, I also tend to show up around 8am, and they're not super-busy, which may be a factor.
Sometime soon, I'm going to try their bread.

I was really sick. I didn't have health insurance. After about two days of protesting, when I was too weak to argue any longer, I was brought in to Denise for help.
I didn't believe she could help.
When I laid down, my temperature was 102.5.
A half hour later, after she'd stuck me with a couple of needles, my fever was 99.5, and I felt tons better.
I totally didn't believe (which is why I took my temperature beforehand, so I could say, "I told you acupuncture doesn't work!" Joke's on me!) Now I recommend Denise to everyone.
They had Fluxx! And Monty Python Fluxx! And a Battlestar Galactica RPG! And pretty much every Settlers expansion known to man!
I spent a ton of money in about five minutes. And I'll be back to spend more.

My socks were knocked off by the pain au chocolat this time! They were knocked off so hard, in fact, that I now cannot find them. So if you find a pair of random socks in Parker-Lusseau, they're mine, and I'd really like them back.
If they served pain au chocolat, they'd see me every weekend.

Run, don't walk, to Granville Cafe's Sunday brunch. The pancakes are tall and fluffy and melt-in-your-mouth good. The bacon is equally fabulous (I'm a vegetarian now, but I have been sorely tempted since going veggie when brunching there). The coffee...is just okay. But the PANCAKES!!! Wow. Wow. I think the only reason this place isn't packed to the walls at brunch is that hardly anyone has heard about them yet.

And it was AWESOME. Totally worth the wait. Totally worth waiting in the down-the-block line that we saw as we were leaving. If you don't like Blue Bottle's coffee, you just plain don't like coffee.
