I prefer this place over Mobo and Takara (terrible).
(My frustration in Santa Cruz is when you order a maki roll and you get a large roll with a tiny piece of avocado or what have you rolled in the center with a ton of rice.)
This place serves ONLY maki rolls!!
Which I like, maki rolls you can pop in your mouth without tearing apart the roll or gagging! :)
No fried shrimp/tempura here, but great rolls, I like to ask for a side of spicy chili mayo to make my rolls extra savory.
The owners are really kind, but can be on the talkative side.

Los Amigos Mexican Restaurant
Category: Mexican
Neighborhood: Long Island City
I live in Santa Cruz, California..I have tried chile rellenos all over..not one place that comes close. The smokey chipotle tomato sauce with a not-too-doughy relleno made with mexican cheese (way better than Monterey Jack) is perfectly prepared!

Los Amigos is a great Mexican Restaurant here in Astoria. However, to truly enjoy this place I recommend dining in as opposed to delivery or take out.. otherwise it's just not the same. Once you become addicted, as I have, then you can order out. :)
As far as service goes you can expect to have your food brought to your table correctly and in my opinion, that is all that really matters when dining out. This restaurant is for the simple type who just likes Excellent food to kill the hunger pangs. The prices for the quantity and taste are excellent. There is even some romanticism in the simplicity of this restaurant. They have nice murals of ancient Mexican civilizations painted on the wall, a nice touch.
P.S. I am addicted, I mean addicted to their Chile Rellenos!!
So tasty! The dish tends to vary each time in taste I order it, but it is always delicious!
Imported bottled and domestic beers are $4. Cheap. The food is also inexpensive.

The fries on my plate were pretty tasty and they have nice side salads.
I really didn't care for our waiter. I usually don't regard service to much when I go out because I just don't care anything, but how the food tastes.
He was pretty pushy and little too casual. Didn't like him..
Bottom Line: Good place to hang outside and have a drink, and maybe cure a small appetite with appetizers.
I decided that a haircut so cheap was worth taking the risk based on the 2 reviews listed here.
Although I signed up for a shampoo and a cut, which is $18.95, I ended up with just a haircut for $15.95.
Will was my stylist. I showed him a picture of a haircut I liked. In short, my haircut style-wise doesn't resemble the picture too much. However, he gave me a really good haircut. He took quite a bit of time on my hair, so it wasn't fast, but thorough.
He also was kind enough to recommend a product for me, but was very no pressure about it.
If you are looking for a good haircut, but don't have a lot cash (and haircuts are pretty pricey these days) this is the place for you.
Based on one experience, I probably will go back.
I would give my experience 3.5 stars.
There is something to be said for a burrito so big for so cheap that two people can share..and that is what we did. :)
I ordered a Southwestern burrito and it was a lot tastier than the avocado cheese burrito. I ordered a cappucino this time, and the coffee was a lot better.. I don't know if the coffee has improved or the mocha's are just poorly made, but the cappucino was ok. I will go back again.

Okay, well I am new to Santa Cruz so, I was excited to try a breakfast burrito place. Well, I figured this place would be great, I ordered a burrito that had avocado, cheese, and maybe hash browns in it..I don't remember what it was called. Well, the burrito came out and it was huge, to big to pick it up, but I got my fork and knife and dug in right away. Well, I ate half of the burrito and have to say for a combination of avocado, cheese, and potato there could have been really a lot more flavor to that breakfast burrito. To me it tasted just kind of fluffy and moist with out flavor. I also ordered a mocha which was a hot chocolate with canned whip cream on top- I am not that picky, but I was expecting something a little higher in quality.
I didn't love it, but I would go back again to give another chance.
I tried my favorite dish kung pao chicken-spicy.
It's delicious, it comes in a great brown sauce that sticks to the food, I hate it when the sauces just pool at the bottom of your to go container, so that's good. It's flavorful, tastes fresh and delicious, it has some diced zucchini in there which give the dish a really nice touch.
I had chicken chow mein, which I didn't love because it lacked some flavor..
Will update as I experiment more with the food
There are NO drunkards in this place, they are not even welcome.
The place was not "shut down in the 1990's" the owner closed and moved upstairs pretty much because she was crazy.
"Keep the woman and the children away from this place"
Please!! It's a restaurant not a gang infested war zone!!
Plently of families come in on the weekend for beers, soda, and hot dogs!
The Seabreeze is your local pub, and totally family friendly.
It's just a simple place for simple people who want to have a drink and a little bite to eat.
The menu has simple tavern fair and a full bar.
There is a beach patio and is no where near the eyesore that it once was.

My reaction, uh, a chain? The food at chain restaurants is always the worst! But, after watching the food network's inside on chain restaurants I knew the food couldn't be bad because all the flavorings and prep is already mapped out by professional chefs in their test kitchens.
My reaction once I tasted my food?
OH my god! This is the best steak I have ever eaten!!!
I am not joking! I have had steak in Texas, California, Europe, Thailand, South America;
this was the most flavorful and juicy steak I ever tasted anywhere!
And it was cooked medium well might I add, and still juicy! I had the ribeye.
The vegetables were perfectly steamed and flavored, which were also the best I had ever eaten to my disbelief. The dish also came with garlic mashed potatoes which I didn't have to touch because the steak and vegetables alone were amazing tasting without a familiar comfort carb.
expecting something but not much..
Our experience was fantastic!
The food was incredibly delicious. So good!
We started out with drinks; a lychee martini and bombay 'n tonic.
Both drinks were made to perfection. The alcohol content was just what your palette could hope for( ..not too much, not too little..)
Then we had their hot and sour soup...which also was made to perfection..the soup had just the right amount of spiciness. You could tell the ingredients were fresh. We also had the chicken shumai with a delicious ponsu sauce. Oh my ..., those things really tickle your tastebuds, don't go and not try them! Then we moved on to the duck and Kung Po chicken. I had the chicken. I have had this dish in many restaurants. In Chinese restaurants you are either given a really poor cut of meat or too lean of a cut where the chicken becomes more dry. The taste of the spices and the chicken were perfect. We had a wonderful waiter (possible owner) who had a very cunning sense of humor and constantly made us laugh. We left feeling relaxed, satiated, and just happy!
