Fresh foods and vibrant flavors.
Reasonable prices.
Three of us ordered different dishes and we were all very happy.

If you want excellent pizza in Denver, try Marco's Coal Fired Pizza, or Mici's, or even Anthony's.

I must like it.
It's more like an addiction, really.
It's the green sauce. I love the way it softly burns my lips, tongue, and throat. The effect is almost narcotic.

Floyd's 99 Barbershop

I've spent my adulthood alternating between cheap haircuts (Great Clips, etc.) and fancy salon cuts.
Then I found Floyd's. The atmosphere is fantastic. Rock music and billiards. It costs a few (only a few) dollars more than Great Clips, but it's worth it because you get a much better cut.
I want to specifically mention Steph K. I recommend her highly!

Marco's Coal Fired Pizza

We recently ate at Otto's pizzeria in NYC. That one was developed and is operated by Mario Batali, the celebrity chef. It's beyond compare. But Marco's is a close as you can come in Denver.
Fantastic! Be sure to order the chicken wings. They aren't spicy, but rather succulent and juicy.
The salads are yummy, too.
And the pizza crust is soft but complex.
We'll go back often.

Prices are reasonable and the pasta is good, too. Plus, they deliver!
It's not Otto Enoteca (the best pizzeria in NYC), but is excellent. I'd say this one is in a rough tie with Marco's for my favorite Denver pizzeria.

Barnes & Noble Booksellers

Neighborhood: Southeast
Let me tell you a small story about yesterday...
My 25-month-old son looked at me and, out-of-the-blue, said " Go Book Store, Daddy. Get Airplane Book!"
I'd never heard him say anything like this before, but this is a type of request that I am eager to indulge. I was one proud papa!
We jumped right in the car.
Normally we would have gone to Tattered Cover. But we had a coupon for Barnes & Noble, and I thought "Hey, any bookstore will do for such a basic need, right?"
Silly me.
All the way to the store, he's going "AIRPLANE BOOK!!!" He's laughing and we're making airplane noises together.
We get to the store and I usher my eager son into the toddler section, only to immediately discover...
Wait for it...
A Thomas the Tank Engine train table.
If you have, or have had, or have even observed a two-year-old boy in the last decade or so, you know what happens when they encounter a Thomas train table.
Nothing else matters.
All thoughts of books evaporated instantly from his little head.
And to make matters worse, they had no airplane books for toddlers. They had many dozens of train titles, but zero airplane books.
They had a twit of a little teenage girl who was (nominally!) managing the toddler section. She couldn't even suggest an airplane book.
So who would think it's a good idea to put a Thomas table in the toddler section of a bookstore? I'll tell you who...a manager who figures he can make an extra $20 in revenue per customer if the kids are crying that they need the green train!
But I'll tell you this: now that I know my child won't be able to concentrate on books at B&N, I'll take him to bookstores where they actually think books are important.
And, come to think of it, my last several experiences with B&N have left me with a feeling that their management doesn't care much about books.
These guys don't get it. But that's ok. Let them dwindle. Let them derive more and more of their revenue from selling calenders, and video games and coffee.
I just hope they die quickly because what we really need in my neighborhood is a new Sams Club!
Date

And EXPENSIVE.
Costs every penny as much as Mortons, Ruths Chris, or Elway's, for a vastly inferior product.
We had King Crab and Filet. The crab tasted freezer burned. You know what I mean. The steak was so-so - very little flavor and not as tender as it should have been. Oh, yeah, and the steak was NOT HOT.
This location has had a long history of failed restaurants. Looks like this is another one.
