Stopped in for lunch. We ate on the patio, within minutes of being seated, our waiter Hector was taking our drink order and chips with salsa and black bean dip arrived. The service was fantastic. I had beef quesadillas, they were good. Not phenomenal, just good.
The overall experience totally made it worth the stop for lunch!

Parker's Maple Barn

We went to Parkers years ago and had a bad experience -- so I've avoided it since then. Finally decided to have a go at it again and went out for brunch on Friday morning.
It was passable, but definitely not the best food. Service was decent. We both had eggs and I ordered a blueberry pancake. The pancake was blue-ish, but had very few blueberries. The syrup (their hallmark) was far from the best NH maple syrup I've had. The eggs were cooked well and the home fries were slightly crispy -- a nice surprise.
I'd recommend Parkers for the tourist experience, but if you're looking for great breakfast/brunch foods I'd look elsewhere.

Service was excellent, food wasn't.
Met up with friends in Boston on Saturday and we went over to the Union Oyster House. They sat us immediately and the service was great. Then the food came. We had a calamari appetizer -- it was ok, but I've had better calamari. For the meal I had the fried scrod and a friend had the chicken club. The scrod was ok, but not exciting. My friend's chicken club was very dry.
Interesting experience to try out the oldest restaurant in the country, but I'd recommend against it if you are going for the food.

I can only comment on Sunday karaoke (4-8pm). haven't had a chance to get to the Element any other night. While karaoke is always an odd experience, Kristi brings a high level of energy that you have to love.
7/12/2008 -- As I understand it, Kristi is no longer doing the Sunday karaoke.

I stopped at Sky Market for lunch last week and was very disappointed. The service wasn't very good -- left me feeling like I had interrupted the clerk at the counter from something more interesting -- like restocking the candy shelves.
I ordered a steak and cheese sub with cheesy fries. Not good for me, I know, but occasionally I want to splurge. The shaved beef in the sub was overcooked and dry and the cheese used for the fries had less flavor than Velveeta.
I've had a number of friends recommend Sky Market, so I'm hoping it was just an off day. It will be a while before I'll consider trying them again.

A friend and I met up at Sampan for dinner last Friday night. The restaurant was pretty crowded, but they seemed to get people seated, fed, and on their way pretty quick.
We went with the general tso's chicken, spicy string beans, and chicken pad thai. I've been spoiled with really good Thai food so I'm usually hesitant to try it most places. The pad thai was a bit dry, but did have a nice blend of spices, making it hot, but not overwhelming. It's the kind of hot that you start to notice after a bit or two. The General's chicken was good, cooked perfectly, and a nice flavor. The spicy string beans were something I wouldn't normally try, but my friend swears by them. They were good. Not sure what type of sauce is put on them but they're worth trying--a new twist on a somewhat boring vegetable.
I wouldn't go out of my way to eat at Sampan again, but enjoyed the evening out.

Ok, I'll admit it. I'm a Starbucks addict. I don't even drink coffee. I get a tall Chai Late every time I stop.
When this new Starbucks opened we started going, more to support the new store. It's not often we get something fun like this out our way. It is rapidly becoming one of our favorite stops there.
They put together a good team. The store has an interesting layout. And most importantly, they get the order prepared quickly. It's on the right as you head out of Nashua on 101A, just after Target and the Unos restaurant.

Originally I held off from writing a review of Nashua House. It was a childhood favorite of mine (grew up not too far form there) -- I wasn't sure if the food was really that good or if I was just being nostalgic.
So, I ate there again last we. It was as good as I remembered! I can't comment on anything they serve besides pizza, because honestly, I've only ever had their pizza.
We planned to eat there, so I called the order in ahead of time. My friend went with a small pepperoni pizza, light sauce (force of habit from years of eating Pizza Hut) and extra cheese. He was very happy with it.
I had a small spinach pizza with garlic. Yes, garlic, real garlic, not the garlic powder most pizza places use. It's a white pizza with a nice cheese blend, spinach, and minced garlic. I know it's terribly bad for me, but I finished the entire small pizza myself! I find their pizza addictive.
They seem to do a continual business -- which I take as a good sign since there is a lot more competition in the area than there was years ago. If you haven't tried the pizza from Nashua House, I recommend it.

Had a fantastic dinner at Que Pasa tonight. We'd been meaning to get up to Henniker to check it out, and celebrating a friend's birthday was the perfect excuse.
We had the nachos to start (with extra cheese, no meat). We used it to try the guacamole, salsa, salsa verde, and 2 homemade hot sauces (Shindig smokey and woo woo). I'm not a fan of the "smokey" flavor so I stayed with the woo woo, which was excellent, but the Shindig was the clear favorite for the table. The guacamole was phenomenal (and I'm not usually a fan.)
Followed up the nachos with beef Chimichangas for all of us. I know it's not very original, but we were all thinking the same thing. They were hands-down the best Chimichangas I've ever had. They were fried (as they should be) but unlike every other Chimichanga I've had they weren't greasy and didn't have the deep fat fryer feel to them.
Our waitress, Emily, was great. Personable and efficient.
In the end we all ate way too much, but loved the experience.

The staff was seriously attentive, the restaurant was clean and inviting, and the bathroom was well maintained. Even with the rolls we weren't fond of, it was a great experience and I'd happily go there again.
It was a good find worth trying.
