It's losing the small, specialized people like the gentleman that works here and gaining another Wal-Mart that keeps me up at night, worries me throughout the day and leaves me crying in the shower.  The first time this wonderful fella worked on my shoes, he stretched some very uncomfortable, but nice dress shoes that were purchased at a thrift store, naturally.  Having experience stretching ski and snowboard boots at Chick's Sporting Goods (now Dick's Sporting Goods, which is pretty funny), I knew that those uncomfortable, but nice shows had potential in the right hands.  After 2 long years of collecting dust in the closet, this shoegician worked his magic and they're now the most comfortable dress shoes I've ever worn.  He's a gentle, sweet guy, does wonderful work and his prices are very reasonable.

Buon Giorno Coffee

My motivation for a cup of coffee at Buon Giorno Coffee was different from any other customer they've had, I'm quite certain.  For anyone who lives in or around Costa Mesa.  Especially around 17th street.  There's a good chance you've seen the dynamic dog and bicycling man duo.  Picture a bicycle, a man peddling it... sounds normal so far, I know.  Attached to the rear of this bicycle is a small flat trailer looking contraption and standing upon this trailer is a dog.  A dog that barks continuously with complete disregard for anyone or anything around him.  As if the dog is shouting commands to the middle aged bicycling human.  It's a site to see so I'm sure many of you can understand why I had to follow them to this coffee shop and observe the pair.  I learned a lot that day.  About life... about myself.  Anyways the coffee was good, but I don't drink much coffee so what do I know.  The cute authentic Italian girl working there certainly didn't hurt.

A very generous 3 stars, I've given.  This place certainly doesn't cater to my interests other than that they do serve food and that I like to eat food from time to time.  It's a breeding ground for adult fighters and plastic princesses.  You can cut the testosterone with a knife, I think.  In fact, I like to keep a beer bottle close by at all times, just in case I need to smash it over some bro's head who looks at me the wrong way.  The culture this restaurant feeds is the cancer of the earth...?

I've eaten here a few times and have always been VERY pleased.  It's very cutting edge and I can't imagine eating something here that I've had before anywhere else.  Customer service is excellent, but I haven't been there during normal hours when they may be busier.  If you've never eaten raw food before or suspect you might not be hip to it, TELL THE WAITER so they can help you select an appropriate meal.  It's a wonderful restaurant and example of how business can operate more responsibly.

Dropped a suit and some dress shirts off with a smile knowing that I wouldn't be wearing unhealthy chemicals around after picking them up, but turned blue when I saw numbers on the cash register.  Insurance is typically very high for toxic cleaners because of the risk they put the retail center in so I'd imagine this non-toxic cleaners is able to run this for less, but man!  They're really doing a number down there.  You're absolutely getting stuck with their high rent costs and Newport Beach prices.

Zinc Cafe & Market Inc

What is with their obsession with putting every food component in a bowl?  The burrito has the salsa, sour cream and guacamole in separate bowls on top of the plate.  It makes for an awkward meal.

Other then the puzzling plethora of plating, zinc is excellent.  Food is delicious, well priced, good portions and overall ambiance is pleasant.

The restaurants space and feel make it obvious that who ever open the restaurant knows what they're doing.  Many well thought out details, other then the all the plates.  They must be more concerned with presentation than functionality in regards to all the plates and bowls.

All the makings of a good european hostel.  Friendly staff, clean rooms, although I treated myself to a private room.  Free WiFi.  I was only there for one night.  A Saturday.  It was lasanga night so for $7 I got my hands on some delicious home cooked vegetable or meat lasunga and salad and a fun conversation with french, italian, english and australians.  Ended up going out with everyone on the pub crawl, which was pretty disappointing.  The chick running the show seemed ill or exaushted so it carried through the pub crawls performance.  Good location.  Solid hostel for someone trying to save some money or if you don't want to stay at a comfort inn and you want to actually interact with other people.

Stayed 2 nights while in town for a work related course and didn't want to stay at a stereotypical comfort inn or something.

This place is really vintage.  Rooms, elevator and the building it's is really unique and I was happy to support it.  Friendly staff at front counter.  Free wifi worked great for me whenever I used it.  There's lots of neat reastaurants close by and the BART (subway) station is only a block away.

beer... A lot of beer.  Which I certainly appreciate as I do enjoy fancy, kinda hard to find beer from time to time.  My big beef with this place is the lighting.  The sawdust, I can deal with, but it's much to bright in there!  Not to mention the amount of energy they're wasting, right?  Am i right, I ask you.  They're like hundreds of little heaters hanging from the ceiling, which doesn't make for the best time.

Other than that, it's a pretty solid bar with a relatively friendly crowd.

I thought the place was fine.  Great location, but I don't know Denver all that well which may have been why I ended up here.  I would have been fine in a cheaper place, but didn't have to time to search for it online.

The only things that turned me off was that there was a FEMA seminar of some sort going one, which made me very nervous.  Figuring out what or who they're going to screw next, I imagined.  The elevator was a little slow which really pissed off some of my neighbors, but I didn't mind.  $18 a day for parking was a bit off putting.

MOST IMPORTANTLY!!  If you don't pay for parking the day you check out and won't be back to pick up your car before 3pm than you're in for an adventure!  When I was there in July of 08' I had to follow another card out VERY closely because the gate swings down quickly.  It was pretty intense and felt like I had really accomplished something once I got out of there.  Really stuck it to the man, I thought as I drove away.
