This must be the best restaurant in the county... and maybe all of the Yadkin Valley!
My wife and I stopped in here for lunch and was just blown away by the menu selections and the quality of the food.
Oh, this restaurant is in a vineyard so the local vintages are served and they are very, very good. You can also tour the winery after you eat.
My personal story here, is that I grew up in Dobson and remember when this land was just farm land. Back then, there was NOTHING to do in Dobson so after the Friday night football game at our high school, we would go hang out and drink beer in the fields.
Now they grow merlot in the same fields... that is a step up from the Coors we used to swill.
Trust me.

The history of coffee has been recorded as far back as the ninth century. Humans, across cultures, have harvested, brewed, mixed and ingested coffee. The finest restaurants of the world, the true temples of cuisine serve coffee. Fast food restaurants deliver coffee to their waiting throngs of addicts at near the speed of light. Coe's Grocery, a farm seed store one block north on Elm serves coffee. So I can't tell you how shocked I was to learn that the "Mush" does not serve coffee. Nor do they serve hot tea... a drink humans have enjoyed longer than coffee.
There I was on the coldest day of the year and I thought it would be wonderful to have something warm to drink. Nope.
No coffee.
No hot tea.
No hot chocolate.
So I settled in for a salad and stromboli... I won't do that again. I barfed for two days.
Pass this place by.

Shady Ladies At Lamps & Shades

They know everything there is to know about lamp shades.
I am quite the opposite, I know nothing about lamp shades so these "shady ladies" were very helpful in replacing the lamp shade a certain enraged, hyper and overly suspicious feline tore apart.

They have baked goods like bread, cookies, deserts and the occasional sandwich. Oh, and the espresso is top notch.
Now, they have this little dessert named the molten lava cake. They are to die for... highly recommended.

Bear Rock Cafe is a little restaurant that looks like it would be how a deli would look in the Yukon.
They have a variety of sandwiches with quirky names like Hoot Owl (my fav), the Bear Cristo and the Sasquash. They are all extremely good and very filling. You have your choice of hot and cold sandwiches and your selection of bread.

I first heard of this bicycle shop from a friend of mine that lived a few states away. What makes Neighborhood Transportation so unique is because they are famous purveyors of recumbent bicycles. Hell, they are the Gods of recumbent bikes!
For those of you who are scratching your head (as I was) and wondering what a recumbent bike is, it is one of those bicycles you see occasionally where the rider is reclining while riding. You kinda lay down in these things and the pedals are in front of the bicycle.
This store has a wide assortment of recumbent bikes for sale - steel, aluminum and even some high end carbon fiber contraptions for racing. Actually, they have such a wide selection of everything, there is barely room to move.
They also do maintenance and repair of these fine vehicles.
So go down and visit Bruce and the gang to check out how fun these bikes are.

They have great prices on seeds and every knick-knack you can think of to put up a bird feeder in your back yard, along with combat equipment to continue your suburban warfare with Commandant Waggle Bottom and his army of hungry squirrels.

There are a lot of vitamin stores out there with a variety of items with "MAX" in the name, Aquarius 2000 is not that store. Here you have a unique vitamin / herb store run by someone who knows what they are talking about.

FINALLY!!!! There is a quality electronics store for audiophiles in Winston. Idlewild Audio is the brain child of a set of twins, Chris and Blake and they have a wealth of knowledge of high end audio products, installation and performance.
If you are looking for "Sony" products, you won't find it here. You will find someone who will compassionately point you to Best Buy where you can wallow in bland-sounding audio products like Sony and Pioneer. Idlewild is the place for true freaks of all things sonic, and if your specific alter of worship is a turn table, you are in luck.
