We visited recently for dinner. our party of 5 was seated and given menus.  After a wait we placed our orders and they came out in about 15 minutes. We had the sauteed pork cubes with seafood 14.00, others in our group had the combo (half-chicken and half-ribs) for 13.00. Service was fair, we didnt want for anything.

the menu was small and basic, a few Portugese items, and a few American ones. Mostly meat, but not as much seafood as I'd like. prices were standard compared to what else ive looked at.

The restaurant itself isnt that large, there are many tables and booths squeezed together, theres a bar, with about 6 seats and a small deck with tables outside. A desert case rounded out the restaurant. There wasnt anything special about the decorations, there was a map of portugal and a few other things.

The portugese bbq places have become more and more common in the last few years. We decided to go here instead of driving up to the Ironbound. The food was so incredible, we had leftovers for the next 2 days. I'd suggest plate sharing if you go here.

Delicious Orchards

In rural Colts Neck Township NJ, lies the Delicious Orchards farm, just off of route 34. Its a indoor retail shop where you can buy all sorts of fruits, vegetables, food, candy, trees & shrubs. Pies, cakes, apple cider doughnuts. Huge selection of meats and cheeses, and free samples of everything galore: ice cream, blueberry cake, organic salsa, you name it. The selection of fruit is enormous and appeared to be pretty high quality. Prices were slightly higher than at grocery stores or Asian markets in the area. There's a great area out back where you can pick your own blueberries, strawberries & raspberries. Also outside there's a Cider Cafe where you can get hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, apple cider, etc. It was packed when we arrived, but there was ample parking. I'd suggest stopping by if you're ever out in this part of NJ. They also have a huge mail order catalogue of items to choose from.

The Ned Smith Center for Nature & Art is located in Millersburg, pa. We visited recently for a tour. Basically it's a Center dedicated to Millersburg native Ned Smith, who was a writer, artist and naturalist. His illustrations and paintings captured wildlife at its best. For a number of years he illustrated Pennsylvania Game News magazine. The center sits on 500 acres and borders other public lands and the Appalachian trail. Theres a giftshop, a wildlife gallery, paintings and all sorts of other fun things. behind the building there are lots of trails & some spectacular views. worth a visit if you're in the area. http://nedsmith.org

Williams French Fries

I most recently checked out William's French Fries based off of Jeff S's review. It turned out to be alright, as stated, they have fresh cut fries and a variety of sandwiches, ice cream & sides. We ordered a Cuban Panini, with fries & a medium drink (8.49) along with a 12 inch italian sub (6.59) and large chocolate milkshake (3.50) for our family. Since it's to-go only, we ate at one of the outdoor tables, underneath an umbrella in the shade. I was totally stuffed, so the rest went to work with me. I'd visit again if Im back in the area, and I'd suggest you do too! Theres a 1 dollar off coupon on their website, http://williamsfrenchf...

Jimmy's is a spot to get lunch at if you're in uptown harrisburg. They have subs, dogs and breakfast. I got a chili dog and a cheese dog. (1.90 each) and some fries (1.90) The food was okay, it didnt take long to get it ready. The restaurant itself has barstools and a curved bar seating area. a few mirrors and framed hot dog puzzles. It was okay, i just thought the prices were a little high, and the food just "ok".

We recently visited for Slavic Food Fest, which was held June 13th & 14th, 2009. There was both Eat in and Take out food available. The dining area was staffed with church volenteers who prepared the meals. There were all sorts of deserts, cakes and pies as well as the Slavic food that was there.

some of the treats were:
Halupki- a beef stuffed cabbage roll w/ garlic & spices.
Halushki- cooked noodles, in onion & butter
Macedonian Hamburger- with onions green & red peppers.
Pierogi- small boiled dumpling stuffed with cheese

I spent about 20 dollars on our lunch that day, Christ the Savior Orthodox Church also make a delicious nut and raisin roll, that is available Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter.

Okini has a second location in York that has been open for a month and a half now, in what was formerly the Golden Dragon. It's in the Kingston Plaza in east York. It was well worth the trip. This branch is ran by the same boss who ran Gobo & Okini in Harrisburg. There is a coupon in the Clipper Magazine, so that helps. Lunch specials are 6.75 and there are many take out specials as well. They serve Sushi, Thai, Malaysian and chinese dishes.

As an appetizer we had the Satay Ayam (6.00), which is five pieces of grilled chicken in a spicy peanut sauce w/ onions & cucumber. We had Grandfather Chicken (6.75), which came with fried rice, hot & sour soup, a very fresh spring roll. We also tried the Black Basil Beef (6.75) which came with fried rice, wonton soup and a spring roll.

They had a sushi lunch special any three rolls for 10.00, we tried the spicy tuna, spicy salmon and eel & avacado roll. It tasted very fresh, on par with the store in harrisburg. Spicy mayo always does the trick for me here. Great lunch for under 30 dollars. The Malaysian dishes arent to be missed! BYOB, cash & credit and delivery available.

Stopped in for lunch recently. This is in the Progress Plaza, near the intersection of Walnut & Progress. I've driven past it before, but never entered.  It's a mexican store that has clothing, groceries, sundries & a small kitchen in the back. The menu was basically enchilladas, fajitas, burritos, tacos and a few meal dishes. I just got some tacos (1.50 each) for the road. Though we were the only ones in the store the service was painfully slow, it took nearly 20 minutes to get our to-go  food. I'll give it a second chance, if it doesnt wow me, I wont be back.

On our recent visit to lebanon, we stopped here for a cool treat, it turned out to be alright. Fairly in-expensive prices for ice cream, sundaes and banana splits. The owner was working and showed us the menu and explained everything, the day we stopped in, a saturday, had a .25 cent discount on milkshakes. There were a few tables, a few outside seats and a bar area, as well as all sorts of coca-cola decorations. We paid cash. http://www.sirrositali...

The Pride of the Susquehanna

Category: Tours

3 star rating

We had the chance to ride on the Pride of the Susquehanna this past weekend. Adult admission is 7.00 and children who are age 3 - 12 are only 3.00 dollars each. There is an enclosed inner deck, which is where they serve meals and have entertainment, then there also is the upper deck, part of which has a awning and chairs and the other half is exposed. E.G. hit the review right on.  There are events including a murder-mystery, Jazzin' on the Pride and the Riverboat School. The trip is about 25 minutes long, you go up underneath the Wade Bridge, turn and come back. It's nice to be able to see some of those small islands in the river close up, and its great to take pictures against Harrisburgs skyline. http://www.harrisburgr.../
