I feel being the first to review I should put the vision of the owner into this review.
"My vision for FeeLit is to create a communal space where designers, DJs, artists, musicians, photographers & sculptors can promote their art, music, talents & services.

FeeLit is a unique boutique that will build a strong social circle of friends and a hub for networking & cross promotion.
support underground artists."

And he's doing a great job as well. This is one of the only places downtown to get yourself some vinyl or find out whats going on around the city. The store supports many events around the city for example East Village Art Walk and Bar Basics Tuesday night art shows. Pop in and check it out. Tell Mark I said Hi.

I have been going to Candelas for years now. This is one of the best off the path spots around. The lounge is known throughout the city for some of the best deep house music in the city!! Understand that its a small location but the crowd there is one of my favorite, period.
The bartenders there are fantastic and know how to pour one hell of a drink.
I have only eaten there a few times because i'm relatively poor but I have never had any complaints about the food and the service there is better than I have had in many other more "upscale" restaurants in the city.
Believe it or not you have to try the fresh baked rolls they have one that has cream cheese backed inside and another with jalepenos.
Thurs through sat they have Dj's its a great start all night or end of the night place. Cover varies usually 5 bucks and thats to pay the DJ's.

This is one of my favorite summer spots.
The staff and atmosphere of this patio bar is one of the best in the city in my humble constant bar hopping opinion.

This is a great spot to start out the night have a bite to eat or hangout for a cool relaxing evening by the roman fire urns... Yes Fire Urns.

They allow for guests of the bar to take a dip in the pool without having to be guests of the hotel or at least they did when they have the Sunday day parties last year.
Theres something about hanging out for the day drinking mojitos by the pool!!

I can only say drop in...check it out for the night or if they start up the sunday pool parties its worth it.

They even have a kitchen thats pretty good if you feel the need for a bite and cabanas if your having a large party.

Basic

There are 2 kinds of pizza more or less (and many versions there of) I have already written my review of Lefty's and now i'm writing my review of my second favorite pizza place. A little back ground on this joint is it's New Haven (CT) style which I can tell you from living there is and after eating at basic is it's GOOD!! There is this spot downtown New Haven aptly named Bar that helped spawned Basic and that was my favorite spot for like a year in a half so I definitely have  a soft spot for them.

So back to the here and now.....
Basic is a hip spot with a relaxed dress code a wide range of things going on..
local artist showcases on tues nights
DJ's  Fri and Sat
A packed house when the Padre's are in town
No cover mostly and when/if there is... its minimal.
The salad the is GREAT!! candied walnuts with pear slices and a sweet vinaigrette that can easily feed 2 -4 people for 8 bucks!!
The kitchen stays open till Midnight on most days
And the tournament size pool table is free.

And the kicker......
Free Pizza for Happy Hour 4-6 Mon through Fri as long as there isn't a game.

You know what after writing this they earned their 5th star.
I highly recommend stopping by there and trying it out.
Oh did I mention the topping selection for the pizza is great!!
The staff there are great, very friendly.

This spot is a cool neighborhood joint to hang out at. They have some cool bar specials a pretty random selection of entertainment that comes through here (Pocket if you haven't heard them your so missing out just played there a month ago) they have some fun things to do as well while drinking like pool and pinball. I can see this place growing into my favorite neighborhood hangout bar. And the staff are pretty cool. And it opens like around 2 in the afternoon maybe even earlier for those folks who like to hangout during the day.

Ok... Now i know all of you are asking really?!?!? 5 stars for a 7-11he's got to be kidding. Well i'm not and the reason for this rating will be revealed as long as you have the patience to read this.

So we have all run into this problem its 11 oclock and were having company and we are quickly running out of booze and all the stores are closed!! WTF?? this is where you go so... 7-11 only has beer NOT SO!!
So this wondrous store not only has beer and wine but alcohol as well! Granted it may not be the highest end stuff but really if your going to keep drinking after 2am and are at a party full of other folks with the same intention, no one cares.
And with its relative closeness to downtown not hard to get to. Just don't go running the stop lights in front of the downtown police division getting there. That would be the weird looking 3 story blue building on 14th street.

I stopped in here the other night to get some dinner and there were a few people there. I will say that if your looking for atmosphere and decor your in the wrong place. This is just like the old school diners with a belly up as well as having many booths to sit at. The food and service was good and the staff was friendly and the bonus is they are open 24 hours on the weekends but close early sunday and monday. If you like spicy mustard your in for a treat I had the pastrami with the stone ground mustard and swiss cheese and it definitely did the trick. By the way french fries should be hot and these suckers came right out of the fryer so I couldn't eat them right away with out risk of permanent damage to my taste buds, thats what i'm talking about baby = )

Alright...
Well last night was my third time visiting the place so I think I can write a pretty fair review.
This place has an all star cast of staff. The GM launched the SD Beauty Bar, 2 of the bartenders I know from the downtown club scene  and they have a whole Bevy of cocktail waitresses and a cool security staff what more can you ask for.
The venue itself has a good size and good sound for all kinds of fun nights from Mechanical Bull Riding Mondays, great bands (local and not so much) on weds to Reggae on Sundays with the Tribe of Kings SD's number one Reggae Production company in the city. It has a neighborhood bar feel with the wide variety of attendees that you could find anywhere. Dressed up or dressed down this is a great bar to hang out any day of the week. Pool table and booths are definitely an added bonus!!

This so far is the best pizza joint you'll find outside of the windy city that I have come across yet!! Now I know all you new yorkers and your frisbee pies rattle your soggy napkins about NYC is better than Chicago's but get over it. Go down have a slice and you'll be hoping the Cubbies win the series. = )

Kadan

Alright...After reading the reviews I felt I had to pipe up. Kadan is what you would call a local hangout. The name and the motif is from the town the owners wife is from and its one of the only bars in town that you can walk in a get a decent game of chess at any hour. The last time I was a regular there the entire staff knew how to play. The music rotation supports a wide variety of local talent mainly Dj's the drink prices are amazing and its a place you can sit for the day read the paper and not get hassled. And the books are donated by the patrons to share with other people. One of my favorite tenders in the city works there. You'll find me playing chess with her as often as i can get over there. Cheers!!!
