Favorite cafe so far in North Beach (and I live here). The cappuccinos are stellar. The food is home made, and each one I've had has been a delight. It's got steady, dependable wi-fi, which is something no other cafe around here can figure out.

I don't really understand the negative reviews, but I don't care, as I like it not so crowded, and debated posting this at all. If you're visiting- go to Puccini and Greco. If you're interested in a great local haunt, patronize this place. Spaghetti omelet & ravioli are excellent!

Kind of unwarranted to review since I just bought a cello string there, but wanted to add my .02. Great, and can I say the north side of SF is pretty much at a loss for music stores. So I'm really glad this found a way to survive. I was impressed with the large amount of resources for students, but I haven't taken lessons here. Their rental rates seem standard.

Not a shabby spot- great jalapeno margarita. Service was spotty but really knowledgeable waiter- super nice, and recommended that wacky drink. Scallops were wonderful, ceviche not shabby. We just had bar service, but I love sit-down Mexican and glad that we have more options now downtown for this kind of food.

Probably the worst example of a downtown wine & olive place. Twice it was OK, third time it was a dud. Their service sucked, no outside service (so why have chairs there?) waitrons milling around uselessly, surly bartender and hostility was in the air. A bad night? We were blamed for ordering our drinks- after a bachelor party. My bad! I mean really.

They're open later! Yay! And the schwerma is still great- that chili sauce & yoghurt hits home. Also- the happy hour deal is unreal, as other yelpers attest.

I had an early slightly negative review but after  year of dealing with their price changes- and finally finding my favorite schwerma on the menu- I'm boosting this up to my top rating. It's a great cafe in the north side of North Beach for some middle eastern food, watching soccer (international feeling here) and getting some wi-fi work done. The owner's a sweetie, and the overall vibe is great. Near Lombard & cable car too. Supposedly their brunches are good- I have to try it! It's a great spot to sit outside and enjoy a Hefeweisen, and the tourists make the scenery interesting.

Discount Fabrics

I want to give it a 5 because I adore it- but went with a four because:
- I bought polyester by mistake, and you'd think the cutter would remind me that I was buying the worst fabric in the world. How do you buy polyester by mistake? You have bad finger-sensing, and you don't read the sticker on the bolt, and you really *want* it to be a cotton for only $1.50/yd.

- The selection is kidn of random, not exhaustive, and it's definitely a bargain basement kind of store, so that's not quite a 5-star action.

Still, I got this on a tip from a friend and I'm really thankful as my costume was $50 instead of the $200 it would have been if I'd shopped at Britex!

Helpful staff- which is a requirement really at all craft places (except Joanne's, which has the most unqualified people in the world!)

I'm in between a four and five. For one, it's just sooo expensive. But it's the most amazing store in the world!!! Super helpful staff, four floors of sewing goodness. It's a cathedral of sewing, imho.

Definitely biased as I am buddies with John & Gaynor the owners. The thing that's great about Melt isn't just the basic cafe offerings, but the overall welcoming neighborly vibe. Don't be shy- strike up a conversation. They also have a great investment in the quality of ingredients which is one of the reasons I love SF and our cuisine!

I can't believe I walked by this place for two years and never went in. I stopped by last night on the way back from Film Yard - another great local institution- and participated in the last round sof trivia. YES I know how to conjugate a French verb! Other than that, failed abysmally. So just want to give a shout out to a nice cafe. A local joint without the attitude that many local North Beach cafes get. On the food front, I'm impressed with the quality of ingredients. Acme bread, good cheese (which to me makes the fondu), and the french onion soup is super yummy. Not a huge menu, but I don't think that's an issue.

Citizen Chain Bicycles

I've been a neighbor & fan of Citizen Chain for a while- they're honest bike guys that help you out with repairs, or select a new bike to buy. I'm a fan of their bikes, they take into consideration all of the needs of us local SF folks who want to either get out in the country for long rides or need a good commuter / urban jungle roadster. As bike shops go this is the most honest & forthright you can get. I always stop in for a chat as I just like talking about bikes- and Dallas, the owner, is a very knowledgeable & friendly guy! Definitely recommend.

Great women's bike store vendor. So that's an odd niche, but I appreciate it. I had some really dumb questions on stuff I'd been struggling with for a while, and Dallas was really friendly and chatty. He also set me up for doing it myself in the future. He's a nice guy and willing to help you- even if he doesn't make a sale. It's really refreshing. I love the location too- seems like the Mission has all the cool bike resources, so finally we've got one here! I don't have to trek to Lombardi or Sportsbasement for my gear anymore! Really fun vintage bikes, and he's not snooty about whether your'e a bike messenger, or just a commuter, or even an weekend warrior.

Talked to the owner, who has been in the area for 30 years. This is a classic European cafe nestled on Leavenworth across from the big IN & OUT sign. Lived here 3 years and never noticed it. The cappuccinos were classic Italian cappuccinos. Lovely area to sit under trees, with tall ships down the street at the wharf. So not Fisherman's Wharf. A lovely tiny cafe with baked goods from all over SF, and my favorite, franscecini rolls- those sour white square rolls. We split a sticky bun and it was quite good.
