Expensive New York Style diner close to everything on 6th Avenue near 57th Street.
A Western omellete with 2 pieces of toast and potatoes runs you $11 plus tax and tip which is quite high for the quality which is fair.
Nevertheless, I will still go here from time to time. Why? I don't know, its quick , I can sit on the counter and its edible.

A pearl in the hamlet of Hudson in Columbia County, New York. Visitors (Non-Columbians) must leave the confines of Columbia County by mid-night on Sundays but if you find yourself here on a day-trip , try this place out. Mind you, those legitimate residents are given preference for seating so you may be up for a wait. Of course the preceding is all made up but it wouldn't if I ran the county of Columbia.
Though tagged as American, this is more a French restaurant or so the waitress stated when we asked. Given the size of the portions, I agree. Size notwithstanding, the Duck confit was deletable as was the Linguine. They use only the freshest of ingredients from vendors that are enumerated on the back of the menu.
The person I was eating with was giddy with delight continuously stating how good this place was to the point of embarrassment for me.
This place will certainly become one of my regular visits.

MY friend and colleague (and gourmet chef) has been talking this place up especially on Monday's as Monday is "1/2" price steak night. Finally took him up on the hype and went to a "team " meeting he had organized.
Well, 1/2 price may be good, but the steaks themselves are only worth the 1/2 price anyway. Slightly better then a Sizzler variety. We ordered two appertizers french fries which no one can mess up and some Saugage pastry thing which had lots of promise when I heard it mentioned, but failed to live up to the promise when I tasted it.
This is a good place to eat if you enjoy drinking beer (I do) - apparently over 22 variety. Its in your typical Northern Virginia Strip Mall setting but what else is new.

This is the best ice cream place in Columbia County, New York. Its the mecca for many day-trippers from down South . No, not the deep south but New York City.
Small ice-cream is size of a large and at small prices anywhere else.
Word of advise from a fellow Columbia Countier - enjoy the ice-cream, then turn south and hot tail it back home before sunset and before the Whitestone bridge or the subway close for the night.

This is one of the best Chinese restaurants not only in Larchmont but anywhere throughout the leafy bedroom community of Westchester, New York.
The food is not the normal glop that passes for Chinese at most Chinese Restaurants. The sauces are lite and are used to highlight the flavors not overwhelm and homogenize the experience. WARNING - if you like Chinese Restaurants where every dish tastes the same, DO NOT VISIT HERE.
Generally good for the sesame cold noodles (ok, nothing spectacular), Sesame Chicken, Orange Chicken. (Those are what the kids like) and an order or two of steamed dumplings.
Prompt and friendly service are the order of the day

The Links at Key Biscayne

This is the Key Biscayne, Florida Crandon Golf Course Clubhouse restaurant. As the golf course, it is a public restaurant. The setting is wonderful in plain view of the golf course situated between the 1st 9 and bottom 9 holes. The food is good and well priced and the service is prompt and friendly. Both the golf course and this restaurant are well hidden secrets as they are located on the island of Key Biscayne which is a few causeway hops from Downtown Miami and the glitz of South Beach.
I usually go for the Turkey Club sandwich and the Fish Ceviche. They don't disappoint.

I don't usually review chains but I am making an exception here. I have fond memories of Tony Romas having eaten frequently in establishments in the New York area whenever I was in the mood for barbecue. New York is not ripe with Barbecue establishments you know.
Anyway, it had been a while as Roma's pulled out of many markets including New York a few years ago.
During one famished afternoon in Miami with the kids, came across this one on Route 1.
Proves you can't go home again. The buffalo wings just didn't taste right though my son ate them all and the burger I ordered , I left 1/2 on the plate which is not natural for me.
No corn beard at the table.
Something just didn't feel right. I didn't even get the scent of overwhelming barbecue inside the restaurant though to be fair, it was very late lunch and perhaps the scent had dissipated.

Vito's Restaurant
Category: Restaurants
Located in a none descript Strip mall in the "Island Paradise" of Key Biscayne, Vitos is a cozy family owned Italian cuisine establishment I frequent with the family.
The last visit was good though I was not impressed the "carbonara" in the Fettucine Carbonara. Just tasted funky probably old.
My kid's fettucine alfredo was good and plentiful , the service is personable and given the size of the place (small) there is no lack of attention.

Situated in a post modern style strip mall in the "Island Paradise" of Key Biscayne Florida, this is the village Chinese Restaurant. I take the kids here as they like the Sesame Chicken and General Tao's. The entrees are nothing special in my estimation. Typical watered down Chinese fair where everything tastes the same regardless of what it is. Nevertheless, I am use to that in many chinese establishments and that one taste is tasty enough if you know what I mean.

I had the lasagna which at $10 was a good deal and tasty to boot. Others had the conventional Fettucine Alfredo and Pasta with Oil and Garlic and Pasta Primevera. All was consumed and once again I was the hero for finding such a nice place to eat.
