Two menu items stand out in my memory: the salmon quiche with salad (a lunch favorite) and the tortellini with Italian ham and alfredo sauce (the "Andreas special" after one of my colleagues). Meals could include a sandwich, slice of quiche, or half of something with a side salad. The customizable pasta dishes were a big hit too - you could pick your pasta, sauce, and extra ingredients.
Coffee was excellent and well-varied, with a dollar buying you a cup to fill with your choice from 6-8 different brews.
Service varied with the wait staff but was generally pretty good, and the walls were filled with local art. It was often difficult to get a table due to high demand!
This place was the best in the area by far and outlived many, many competitors. RIP.
Reasonably priced, fast, and mostly healthy - it MUST be popular.
All that food for a low price - it's no wonder this place is consistently voted one of the best in the Phoenix metro area.

The decor is pretty simple but the menu makes up for it with complexity. You can have a burro of many sizes filled with a slew of meats and topped off with just about whatever you want. Authentic horchata and Mexican drinks too, and a decent selection of beers. The burros are LARGE. Save room in your fridge for the leftovers.

I came to taste Zinfandels and that's what I did - they had a nice selection of California specimens, and my $10 got me four tastes of a variety of wines with different prices.
At one point I became so saturated with Zin that I tried a favorite pinot noir (Spy Valley, which I can't find here in New Zealand anymore!) to break things up. I ended up liking the PN much, much more than the Zins.
This place gets top marks from me due to the no-pressure atmosphere (nobody even talked to me!) and the variety of wines available for taste, as well as the very cool geek factor and wine-friendly storage conditions.
I just wish they'd had some dessert wines available to taste too! C'est la vie.

The service in this place is FAST. In, out, full in less than 30 minutes.
Once I went four times in a week. Always for the pad thai! :)
