The free wifi doesn't cut it though. Tea Lounge and Red Horse which are both not too far away do a much better job on the drinks.

Price-wise this place is OK. I think my omlette cost around 10 and it was kind of too much. Coffee was not great but alright, food was very tasty and fresh. They were also nice about changing mushrooms for onions on the omelette without an extra charge and so on.
Generally the service is alright. This place wasn't packed. Yet it took a pretty long while until they got my order. Of five people running around, only one is actually waiting the tables. But whatever. The waiter was not too friendly, seemed to have been a long day already. ;)
All in all, a pretty solid establishment. Can't go wrong.

Coffee is not the greatest, but I've also had a lot worse.
Also, someone put up that they have free WIFI. I couldn't find anything about that.

Service was very friendly, overall atmosphere more of a bar/lounge then a coffee shop. They also have a area in the back where you can sit and smoke.

Also, the owner changed (I don't know how recently), so the place is now owned by an Italian dude. We had a chat over a zigarette outside, seemed very friendly.
During the summer, there are also a couple benches outside, along the window. :)

So anyway, as I said, we wanted to go in, and some dude outside told us that they were currently not serving but cleaning. My friend tries to go in (He really wanted that chicken sandwhich!), but the place is deserted. So we stand outside for another minute and another dude comes out saying they are currently taking care of a rat problem.
Ewwww!!!!

We also split an apetizer etc. and they were fine with it.
Service-wise, quick and our waitress was pretty cute. And probably got hired cause of her looks. ;) Hell, I'd hire her. Not saying that she was not nice and not try very hard, but she spilled the drinks when she brought them.
Anyway, seems like a nice place ot hang out late during the week. Lots of work people, and pretty young folks all in all.

Music was alright, but it's also so loud and semi-clubby, I just don't know.
Never had trouble getting in and also didn't have any issues with the bouncer, rather thought he was kind of nice and funny (most of them are actually :D).

Anyway, I had a nice breakfast (eggs benetictine) which were nicely done but a bit too salty for my taste, and very taste fresh fruit juice (a mix of four or five different fruits).
The interior of this place is pretentious kitschy. The main influence seems to be French even though there are a couple German dishes on the menu. I just don't know, I've never seen such a place in Paris, it's more a stereotypical version of what America thinks of France (with no offense meant). He could loose some of the fake flowers which are in excess on every table, window and all around, and then the place would be really "real" (as one of the early commenters put it).
So I am not really a fan of that, but I guess if this place is this guy's life, he gets to decorate it as he wishes.
Service is good, the chef/owner takes your order, pretty friendly. The rest of the staff is in the so-so area. Not very talkative and friendly, but I guess I came for breakfast and not to make friends. ;)
With breakfast 12 bucks, fruit juice 2.50, I came out to 23 bucks (including tax and tip being added automatically (???)) which seemed just a tad too much for me.
Date

Shade's is open late, there are friendly people and they serve great wine.
It's that easy!
