When Newport Aquarium opened it was amazing! Over the years all the things I loved about it have changed or disappeared. The once colorful reef is now brown and dead looking. They used to be good about the tank labels, but the 2 times I've been there this past year they either had labels for things that weren't there or things without labels. My favorite fish were bumblebee goby (label still there, but fish long gone), wolf eel (gone), cuttlefish (gone), porcupine puffer fish (still there), lookdown (still there), flashlight fish (gone), arowana (gone).
I agree with other reviews that it is too expensive. When I loved the place and went multiple times a year, the pass was worth the cost. A single ticket used to be $13 now it's $19, which is unreasonable. I think it's gone downhill, but the prices keep rising. I haven't seen the new frog bog yet and maybe kids or people who don't visit too many aquariums would like it.

The high ceilings leftover from Don Pablos make the sound carry considerably. The normal seating area is a small corridor of 2 seat booths on one side and 4 seat booths on the other with the hibachi area over the wall. All you can hear is the clanking of plastic bowls and metal spatulas on the hibachi grills. We ordered Agedashi tofu which was just tempura tofu unlike other versions I've had. We also got three sushis: veggie roll, asparagus roll and cucumber roll. All of which were the smallest versions we've ever had and the most expensive too.
They used to have various soups such as Udon and they used to have Teriyaki tofu, but both of those are gone. (I even asked about them) Basically, they are now another Benihana. This may please some people, but I like real Japanese food, so I HATE it. It's a bad deal if you get sushi and other than hibachi you have nothing to choose from.
Downgrade.
They had 2 critical health inspection violations. (I took the link down because it no longer worked)

They only had 3 screens when I worked there, now there's 5 or 6. It's really a great theater for the city to have. I need to make it down to see RHPS one of these weekends, but I don't think I could stay up that late!! hahaha
The crust at Dewey's is really tasty, not too thick and a bit chewy. There are many interesting combinations to choose from rather than just "supreme" or "meat lovers". Their salads are really great too! The house salad with Gorgonzola, pine nuts, dried cranberries and a vinaigrette dressing is such a mix of interesting tastes that work together! Many places have a similar salad now, but this was the first place I noticed it.
They have plenty of locations around town now, so there is no reason not to go!

Most of my original complaints still stand, but the newer additions help. The new Jellyfish gallery is wonderful! The frog bog is pretty cool too.
