This place was so good I actually went here for lunch 2 days in a row. And I work 15 minutes away from here.
The grilled meat was amazing. Reminds me a little of my trip to Turkey.
The hummus is totally amazing, and they have other veggie stuff as well. SO not for meat -eaters only!

Four Barrel Coffee

Great coffee and a great music selection.
This is where I learned my son liked metal. I was in there with him one morning and he starts jumping up and down when they put on Black Sabbath. What am I supposed to do with this? My wife and I met at a Reggae club. I don't think we even own any metal.
Unfortunately the music comes with a super hipster attitude and lack of wi-fi that keeps this from being a great coffee shop. Oh well, what else do you expect in the mission?

Starbucks Coffee

I have to say, in general, I am not a starbucks person. In fact, I pretty much hate Starbucks' corporate craptastic-ness. ANd this comes after 6 years on living in Seattle.
My wife, on the other hand, *loves* starbucks. She won't drink coffee from anywhere else.
So, as I'm sure you understand, I go to Starbucks all the time.
This one is closest to my house, so I am in here pretty much daily with my wife and my one year old. Its part of our daily morning routine that they tell you to establish with small children.
The people who work here are amazing. They are amazingly nice and friendly, and this is despite the fact that the parking lot is full of crazies, homeless people, and drug addicts. I am seen all sorts of crazy shit go down here, and seen the staff take care of it gracefully, and then still have a smile for my kid. You can't ask for better than that.

Andalu is a little expensive for what it is. SO I can see why some people might have a problem with it. But the food is great, and so are the drinks, so I can't really complain too much.
There *are* an overabundance of tapas places in the 16th Mission area, but Andalu is by far the best.

The woman who runs Be Be is great. Her prices are cheap, and she does great wash & fold work.
I think she outsources the dry cleaning, and whoever she uses doesn't do such a great job. I got fed up with having my shirts written on with magic marker or having tags stapled directly to them, and started going elsewhere.

I've been here a few times and I cannot understand what all of the fuss is about. The food is just ok and the customer service isn't super good. But free wifi, which is pretty much expected at this point. meh
It seems that every time I go back to Ann Arbor, I somehow contrive to make it to this White Castle and chow down on some sliders. The grilled meat and onions, the chicken rings, the bullet proof glass. They bring back memories:
Like Halloween years and years ago, when I dressed up like Prince - purple jacket, oddly shaved beard, "SLAVE" written on my face. No one at any party I went to recognized my costume. But one drunk girl at 4AM at White Castle starts squealing "YOU"RE PRINCE!!!!!!!!!! THAT'S SO COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Of course she was there with her boyfriend, ruining my one and only chance to get laid because I dressed like his purple-ness.
Or, how I convinced a friend of mine that a great way to get back at some people he was pissed at was to buy some white castle fish sandwiches and nail them to the door of their apartment. Of course, we didn't realize until we got there, fish sandwiches in hand, that we didn't have a hammer, or nails, or even if we did, their door was made of metal. So we just kind of left a bag of fish sandwiches outside their door in some fucked up version of the "shitbag".
Well, enough of that. More sliders please!
