The farm is located just a short drive north of Seattle near the town Marysville. They grow strawberries, raspberries, and tayberries. The fields are pretty big. They have cones set up to mark where in the field you can pick. I would get really close if not just a bit over the line. No one has picked in that area yet so all the huge strawberries are hidden there. We picked over 20 pounds of strawberries! It didn't cost that much since they charge $1.50 per pound. On the way back from the field, we stopped off to see some of the animals. I probably wasn't supposed to, but I fed all the goats strawberries.

When we first arrived, we got some homemade apple cider and walked around checking out the little shops and animals. We took a ride out to the beginning of the corn maze. It was set up like the state of Washington complete with all major roads and landmarks. We saw the Space Needle, Mount Rainier to name a few.
After finishing the enormous 12 acre corn maze, we headed for the pumpkin patch. The main patch was near all the major activities and was also very crowed. So I asked around and found a huge patch behind the maze full of pumpkins and hardly any people. We spent quite awhile out there searching for the perfect pumpkins to take home. I wanted to get a variety of shapes, sizes and colors. We ended up with a wheelbarrow full of pumpkins and paid just over $20! Be sure to bring a pocket knife, because the pumpkins are still on the vine!

When I'm in Saratoga Springs, I take the short drive south here. This is where I buy all of my teas. They have the best selection of loose leaf teas in the area. They keep all of their teas and herbs in tightly sealed opaque containers minimizing the negative effects of air and light. They also have a great selection of natural foods as well. The owners are always willing to help.

Winney's Farm, located just outside of Saratoga Springs, New York, is Saratoga County's largest blueberry farm. They have hundreds upon hundreds of blueberry plants which include many different varieties. My personal favorite was "Brigetta", followed closely by the "Duke" variety. You can purchase fresh picked blueberries from the store at the entrance or pick your own. I prefer the latter. After picking up the buckets at the entrance, you drive a short distance down a farm road to a parking area in the middle of the blueberry fields. There you can see that each row is clearly identified by a sign at the end with the variety's name.
It's hard not to notice the sounds coming from the loud speakers situated throughout the fields. It's an ingenious way to keep the blueberries intact. They broadcast the sounds of native hawks and birds in distress to keep the other birds from eating the blueberries. It definitely works judging from the amount of fresh blueberries. Don't get too close to the speakers, they are pretty loud. Although I'm not sure how they keep the deer away with no fences.
We picked a little over 1 1/2 gallons of blueberries and paid about $12. That's not including the other half gallon we ate while we were out there. They charge $1.35 per pound. Blueberries will be available for picking here until Mid to late August.

My favorite bar in Saratoga. They have the largest selection of Single Malt Scotch in New York state, plus a wide variety of Bourbon and Irish Whiskey. They also have a Martini menu with over 250 choices. They even have an "Angel's Share Sampling Society" night where people who enjoy whiskey get together once a month to sample a featured Single Malt Scotch, Bourbon, Irish Whiskey, and a mixed drink made with a type of whiskey. Check their website for dates, times, and drink menu.
