My Last Meal On EarthConch on Cuelebra, PR with my wife
Current Crushmy iPhone 3G
Today, on the 1/2 way point of a 165 mile motorcycle ride along the Mississippi River, we stopped at Flour Mill Pizzeria. I was extremely impressed with their pies. My wife and I ate four massive slices all wonderfully made. The crust is a hand made whole-wheat crust that is the perfect balance of crunch and chew. All of their ingredients are organic or all natural. There is also an adjoining candy and coffee shop making for a perfect desert afterwards. We will definitely be revisiting this place.

Ike's Food & Cocktails
Category: American (Traditional)
I've been to Ike's a few times for business lunches but this past weekend took my kids there with me for lunch as the wanted a juicy burger. This is one of my favorite burgers I've ever had. The meat, toasted buns, etc. are always wonderful. They were even able to split a burger and double plate it for my kids to share one. Service is always accommodating. This is my default burger place downtown Minneapolis.

Izzy's Ice Cream Cafe
Category: Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt
Though I generally prefer my ice cream with chunks (see B&J's Chubby Hubby), the amazingly smooth texture and unique flavors of Izzy's ice cream makes for an exception treat. The first time visiting I bought two pints, one of Salted Carmel, the other of Dark Chocolate Zin; both amazing. I've added Izzy's into my regular best-of-St. Paul list.
Red's great combination of savory sauce, thin and crispy crust, and plentiful toppings (see pics) make this one of the better take-away pizza's I've had in the Twin Cities. This is an tasty and affordable choice that will be in regular rotation for pizza & movie nights.

American Burger Emporium
Categories: American (Traditional), Burgers
An upscale fast food place that has a decent burger and great service. Though not the absolute best burgers I've had, they are a league above ordinary fast food rubbish. Staff was pleasant and there is a nice selection of specialty burgers to choose from.
I am always surprised when I discover a restaurant of this caliber in my home town. Barrio is a hipster Mexican restaurant with a vast array of wonderful small plate cuisine and hundreds of tequilas. This is one of the hottest hipster spots I've visited in the Twin Cities.
On a Friday night with my wife and another couple, we delighted with what turned into a multi-hour dining escapade. Expect a packed house, the service that accompanies a small packed venue, and the need for reservations. If you go with those expectations then Barrio is a wonderful place to spend an adult evening out for food and drink.

An absolutely incredible bakery that keeps bringing me back for the most amazing cupcakes anywhere.

Grand Asia is a regular stop of mine serving some of the best curry dishes I've had in the Twin Cities. Ingredients are always fresh, spice is balanced nicely with flavor, and the aromatics are amazing. This place is surprisingly never crowded. If you are looking for a spacious and uncrowded place with exceptional service for a Friday or Saturday night dinner, or a quick but quality lunch spot, Grand Asia is a great choice.

Another Dunn Brothers Coffee shop and this one is close to home. This is a cozy little spot. Though the roaster is just learning, she starting to produce some great roasts. Service is excellent, staff is always extremely friendly and accommodating. It's great to have a local coffee shop just down the street.

The ice cream is wonderfully creamy and rich soft-serve, perfect for hot afternoon playing on the river. Jim & Lorna Ross' shop is family friendly, dog friendly, biker friendly, and just all together friendly. Flat Pennies just had a children's book published about his great business he's built which has received much recent fanfare. Yesterday while we were enjoying our ice cream in the sun outside on their tables, Jim was telling us about the book signing and 200 school children that showed up for ice cream.
Stop by, grab an ice cream to cool off and recharge. If the shop is not too busy you will more than likely have an opportunity to engage in a wonderful conversation with the owners about their great business on the scenic Upper Mississippi River Valley.
