CVS Pharmacy
Categories: Drugstores, Convenience Stores
Neighborhoods: Upper East Side, Yorkville
The CVS in itself is fine: pretty good selection of health & beauty, enough quick drinks and snack, friendly enough salespeople. If you go in at the right time (maybe 7am during the week?) the pharmacy part is fine, and the pharmacists have always been very nice and helpful.
BUT THE PEOPLE! The line at the pharmacy is ridiculously long at all hours, filled with rude and obnoxious people. I once had a lady complain that I informed them that I changed insurance companies - like it was completely my fault for holding her up. Everyone is irritated and lets everyone else know it, which just makes everyone involved pissy and angry and eager to get their medicine and get outta there!
So basically, this place is fine for a quick run but **don't** take your time! You will leave angry!
After getting so used to Billy's, moving away was catastrophic. I dream of Billy's. Vanilla cake with vanilla frosting with those spherical sprinkles...............mmm. Oh man I want one right now!
I would have to say that Billy's is the best in the city. Although they may not use as much butter as Magnolia's, the size is perfect and they are so tongue-tyingly sweet. Little Red Hen (closer to me now) can never match up [what's up with NOT using butter-cream frosting??? That's messed up]. Sugar sweet sunshine is cute, and Crumbs can be good sometimes, but NOTHING will ever replace Billy's cupcake-shaped hole in my heart :-(

Category: Gyms
Neighborhood: Midtown East
Although I believe this gym gets kinda crazy in the after-work time, it is usually pretty empty at other times. You never have to wait to use a machine, and the gym in itself is on the larger side.
Except for the women's sauna being closed down by the board of health (ew ... I try not to think about it and never go in there), the place is always clean and tidy.
My only frustration is that the towels are different sizes! I always feel as though I'm going to have a good day when I am fortunate enough to pick up the big'ns. Also, it's in the basement and there are no windows... which can be nice if you want to lose track of time.

Let me begin by saying that I'm a sucker for a restaurant that is well designed. Although it is easy to pass by without noticing it (as I had almost every day for the past few months), the interior is quite striking and beautiful. The place is dimly lit (how romantic!) and features dark wood paneling with modern furniture. All of the drinks and courses we ordered focused on presentation, and the dishware was beautiful! Definitely an "experience."
As for the food, it was really good. There are definitely parallels between Land and Spice in terms of affordable Thai food. I ordered the Pad See Ew, which was very similar to the Black Bean noodle at Spice - SO YUMMY. My roommate ordered a curry, which she said was delish.
Definitely recommend going to Land on the UES for inspired dining!
