The Old Spaghetti Factory
Category: Italian
The worst thing about this place was the wait. We weren't in the mood for anything fancy, and knew that The Old Spaghetti Factory was pretty cheap. We waited to be seated for about 30 minutes, since we didn't have a reservation. I guess a lot of people did, because we constantly saw people going up to the host stand and getting in. So if you do plan on going, definitely make a reservation.
The nice thing about the restaurant is that you get bread, soup and dessert included with your meal. My kid loved their Sourdough bread, and the clam chowder was ok. I had the Seafood Lino (shrimp and scallops over white rice covered with creamy sauce and mozzarella cheese) was pretty delicious, even though I'm pretty sure it's a heart attack on a plate. The people at my table who got the pasta said their food was just OK -there were 5 of us there.
Service was OK, though our waiter only checked on us a couple times - the place was pretty busy.
All in all, an average place - I seemed to be the only one who got a really good meal.

We went there twice while we were at Disney. The first time was a great experience - we ate dinner much later at night, and our server was attentive and friendly. The food was pretty good, we really liked the flank steak, and our server happily brought us more.
The second time wasn't as great an experience. Our server was hurried and didn't even tell us about the menu before placing the food on our table. She checked on us only a couple times during our dinner, and at first I thought it was because they were really busy, but I later saw her chatting it up with the other servers in the back. The food was still good, but the second experience really dropped it down a star.

I love this place! Their fish is as fresh as you can get, and as others have mentioned, they provide seafood for many local restaurants. The fish is fresh enough to use in sushi and sashimi (and just writing this is making me want to drive over there to get some). There's a great selection of fish here, more than you'd get in most supermarkets. It's true that the prices are higher, but one look and it's obvious that the quality is better. Everyone at the store is extremely helpful, and it really helps that they don't mind taking the skin off the fish for me.
I love this place. There is a wide variety of food to eat (though not too much that it would take forever to go through the menu) and everything I've had there was tasty. My favorite thing is that your entrees come with dessert, and their selection of dessert is incredible. If you don't have room for dessert, they give you a little ticket to take to the dessert area to get your choice boxed up to take home. A great local place to eat, especially with the family!
I'd say that this restaurant is about average for steakhouses. We've been there a couple times, and each time my food has been a little too salty. I've also had the oysters rockefeller and crab cakes, which were average. Service was OK, but not as attentive as other steak houses I've been to. If you're nearby and feel like steak, you might want to check it out, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go there to eat.

Went here for lunch in the spring. We had our son with us, but he slept the whole time in the booth so his participation in our experience was minimal. But there were a lot of other families there so even if my kid was awake I still think it would have been an OK place for him. Everything here was your typical pub atmosphere and the experience was average. Although we ate inside, the patio was really busy.
I give it an extra star for the burger I had, which was surprisingly good.

Had dim sum there for Mother's Day. We'd been there before for a party and the buffet was pretty good. The dim sum was pretty tasty, though we'd come at the tail end of the dim sum service. We also ordered the lobster (which was meaty and a hefty size) and the salt and pepper pork chops, which were delicious. The food, overall, was really good. Also a plus were the delicious fruit smoothies and bubble teas.
However, there were several things that knocked some points off. First of all, we never got any water, and noticed that it happened to several of the other tables. This wouldn't have been an issue someone had asked us if we wanted drinks, but that didn't happen until we waved someone down mid-meal for some drinks. Another thing is the bathroom didn't have a changing area - and no flat area that was clean enough to change my kid on - the sinks were a little scary! The last thing is, although the servers were polite and friendly, they didn't always know the English translation for what they were serving. I wouldn't have minded that if I was in Chinatown, but our server would have to ask several people what the translation was before they had an answer.
Overall, good food, nice prices, but there are some things to work on.

Aloha Eats
Category: Hawaiian
Neighborhood: Lincoln Park
After wanting to eat here for a long time, we finally headed out to Aloha Eats today (though I got confused when it was said that we'd be going to Aloha Grill, but I guess there were legal issues with the original name). Anyway, I wasn't disappointed. Everyone really liked their food, the spam musubi was just perfect. I used to live in Long Beach where there were a lot of Hawaiian places close by, and I've been looking for a Hawaiian place here for a while.
The only thing preventing Aloha Eats from getting 5 stars is the limited menu. I was looking for loco moco and a combo plate that involved kalua port (which I don't like with cabbage). Other than that, it's good stuff!

I had debated giving Todai 3 or 4 stars, because the food itself is just ok, but if you were to say to me right now, "You wanna go to Todai and eat?" I would go in a heartbeat.
The price for dinner is a bit much, but since it's a buffet, I make sure I'm hungry when I go and eat enough to make it up. I like the selection of sushi, though I tend to only get a couple pieces of nigiri and use all of that extra rice for sashimi. The unagi is always good here, too.
I don't usually have any of the hot food, maybe some tempura or fried shrimp. When I take my son there, he loves the fruit salad and selection of various fruits they have. Of course, after the meal we have the required trip to the dessert area, which always has something tasty.
Before leaving the restaurant, we always grab a cone of green tea ice cream to take with us as we walk around the mall...

The food was good - we had cream of broccoli soup, Caesar salad (which was a little heavy with the dressing) and lemon chicken with asparagus (which was a little overcooked). Our servers were attentive, especially since there were several toddlers at our table, and they seemed pretty adept at avoiding the little tots that were running around.
The room was very nice, and there's a large lobby with a beautiful fountain. All in all, a pretty good place to throw a reception.
