We had 50 people, and they were all amazed at the quality of the food (even those that were not filipino enjoyed it thoroughly). I was really happy to see that the food and set up were executed WELL. I know sometimes you can get shady service from some restaurants, but I wasn't afraid in the least.
I will definitely use them again for any of my catering needs, and highly recommend them. Oh and the fish escabeche? NOMtastic.

As far as working within my budget, she made it all happen on my shoestring budget. Love this stand, and love Patricia. Tell her Charlene sent you. It might not get you a fatty discount, but she'll take care of you nonetheless.
See, what makes people want to buy things is when you genuinely want to help them find what they need. Not when you show them option after option hoping that eventually you will wear them down into spineless blobs and have them buy something just to get you the hell away from them. I walked out of the store after my baby, who must have been reading my mind, needed to get fed. Thanks, baby!
I called my friend who was trying on some overpriced jeans and told her to meet me at Babystyle, where the clothes are far more reasonable, and oh yah, the STAFF THAT WORK THERE ARE REALLY NICE AND DON'T TRY TO COERCE YOU INTO BUYING THINGS YOU DON'T NEED! Ahem.
Oh and btw, no return policy. Exchange only. This is. The Wackness.
PS: Sale shirts for $52.00? are you HIGH?
I guess it's my fault: we went on the weekend after xmas. Yep. Everyone and their mother had that week off, and even though I had my brand spanking new membership card, we waited nearly 1.5 hours to get in through the member line (on the right of the entry) At 10:30, if you did not have your ticket in hand, those of you who were smart enough to buy them online, you were assed OUT. Wow. BTW, non-member entry is on the left side of the entry. The planetarium? Sold out. The wait to get into the Rainforest? at least 45 minutes. No thanks. I'll hit those up the next time I get in. And the parking was FULL at 10AM. Holy geebus.
I am not going to lie, this place clearly deserves a 5, but the 4 is because it's way too crowded for most people to really appreciate the exhibits. It's a curse, I guess, of being so popular. But I'll be back, for sure.

So anyways, when you come in, grab a number and wait your turn. Make sure you know your numbers in spanish too. Speaking spanish here has its benefits, and I'm happy to say that I'm so glad I stuck around to learn it.
Once your number is called, you rattle off your order: tamales (mexican/nicaraguan?), burrito, pupusas, and the like. If you're OG order your masa here for some home made tamales. The service isn't super fast, but by god, the wait is worth it. Make sure you grab some chips on the way out the door too.
This place is the bomb. I regret not coming in any earlier, but I'm so happy that I have found a little piece of heaven on 24th Street.
PS: sometimes I'm the only non-latino person in there who just happens to speak spanish. only in SF.
At first I was a little dismayed at the Burmese/Chinese blend. I usually fear hybrid places because they tend to do either one or the other well, and the other suffers because of it. I also harbor a fear of hybrid places because they're so random (chinese food/donuts? you've seen these places, right?). At any rate, I steered away from the old familiars and wanted to focus on Burmese dishes, and I'll recommend that for you as well.
I liked my palatha; the sauces weren't overpowering, but they weren't distinctly flavorful either. I wanted more out of it, having supped on Straits' version of the roti prata. I enjoyed the tea leaf salad; I would have liked more salad, I guess, than the fixins. I'll try to ask for more of the lettuce (or was it cabbage) for the next time around. It was a bounty of stuff to go with the tea leaf, and it was GOOD, but salad means greens to me, so I was expecting a little more.
The service was GREAT, they were very attentive and very patient with a table of women who were totally indecisive and had the hardest time ordering (is this with a brown sauce or a white sauce? who fuckin' cares, order it already!). They cleared things quickly and with a smile. I didn't get the feeling that they were trying to push us out of there even though it was 9, and they close at 9:30PM. Parking around the area is pretty easy if you're savvy, and at the late hour we were there (8:30PM), there was plenty to be had.
I'll definitely be back to try more of the Burmese dishes. Nice job, Mingalaba!

Okay. It's good. Really. I was impressed with the service, the quality of the food, and not to mention that it's only a hop skip and a jump from the crib. This always helps me when I'm ready to die because there's nothing at home. I had the sauteed chicken and veggies, and boy was I thrilled to see tofu. Love love LOVE tofu. Husbandido had pho and holy crap that was a big ass bowl. Ooh, and the place is clean! Yippee!
I'll be back to try other things. If you're there at lunch apparently it's mad crowded, but we went after the rush and didn't feel cramped in the least. The food comes out quickly and the staff is attentive without being creepy. Be back! Wish it was open for dinner, but hey, that's life. And it is Brisbane, after all.

I really appreciated how easy going he is, his great stories about moving to SF from Seattle, and in general his wise advice on design and what looks best.
Now I need to go back again and again, not only for my own designs (I need to stop being so nice and getting stuff for other people and get my own stuff done), but because I heart Matteo. That boy is GOOD.
BTW, Mica has moved onto bigger and better things, which is fine and dandy, but I do have the SF Magazine with him wearing a towel, and that's all the candy a sweettooth needs. Matteo, let me know when you're ready for your close up, doll! Kisses!

Let's make one thing perfectly clear: I hate procrastinating, but I do it like a mothereffer, just like the rest of you desk jockeys. What can be put off, should be, I say. Soooo tomorrow is like my bro's fiancee's bridal shower. Oh yah, I should probably go somewhere. The requisite nighties and ooh la la naughty stuff, right? Come on, suckafoos, you know how I roll. I have to step up my game and get something proper for my bro's girl. So I let this marinate for like four weeks, and because it's tomorrow, I decide to rely on yelp to direct me to the best fuckin' possible t-shirt design shop because I need to make sure my bro's girl is properly tagged.
I make a call to MTP, and the kind voice of Mica calmly walks me through my questions. I agree to head over shortly and voila, when I get there (parking wasn't as bad as I thought, well, for 3PM on a Friday), and he's the same nice guy on the phone. You know how you work with designers who are total pricks about "what is...the feeeeeeel you'd like to come across with this." or "what mooooood..." Shut up hoes and work with me (sorry, it's Friday and I feel punchy). Anyways, Mica types up what I want (Mrs. So and So) and voila. Pick the shirt, pick the underwear, pick the color, and we good to go. Seriously. Just like that. Mica, the whole time is kind, patient, and engaging enough that I just find it impossible not to sing the sweet sweet praises of MTP and Mica, Lead Clown. He was kind enough to explain the process, the techniques, his training, the difference between silk screening, and the origin of the name of the shop. Other designers would have rolled their eyes and go emo on me, weeping in the corner over my incessant questions. BTW, did I mention that Mica was the only staff worker at the store? He designed, printed, and did the sales? Flossy.
Granted, I can't promise you that you'll be in and out in less than 20 minutes like I was, but at the very least you'll know that MTP does good work, they're sweethearts, the quality of the shirt AND draws were top notch (gold letters on underwear? I need my own one day) and I'll SO be back. Thanks MTP. You guys RULE! Thanks Mica. I really appreciate your help. You're awesome.
