Green's Beverage Stores
Category: Beer, Wine & Spirits
No, I am NOT a woman; men can carry bags for their shit these days too. No, I will not leave my $400 bag with ipod, wallet, sunglasses, etc. behind the counter, because, if for NO OTHER REASON, women are allowed to carry their bags throughout the store; and therefore, so should I.
Basically, some guy who works at the liquor store came over to me, and bitchily asked me to leave my bag at the counter, to which I replied, "do you ask women to leave their purses at the counter?". He replied, "no, but are you a woman?". Clearly, I am not a fucking woman you asshole, but that doesn't make any difference, I will not leave my bag behind the counter for the same reason that women do not have to. It is the same as a purse, so get the fuck over it. My bag wasn't even big enough to put a bottle of alcohol in without it clearly being noticeable; so what was all the fuss about!?!
What I should have done was just put down my basket full of booze, and walked the fuck out, but instead, I just told him that he would just have to get over it, because I was almost done shopping anyway. What I found interesting, is the lady at the counter heard it all, and said that the reason he approached me, was because he must have thought it was a "backpack"; which interestingly enough, the woman behind me in line was actually wearing, and had carried throughout the store with no fuss.
Needless to say, I won't be going back into this liquor store, and as such, won't have to worry about whether or not I can carry my belongings with me; like all the women are allowed to do. Clearly, they don't need my business, so I can go elsewhere!

Tower Beer Wine & Spirits
Category: Beer, Wine & Spirits
Either way, if you need to get your drink on, head over to Tower, because it is clean, nice, massive, and cheap.
I also liked that they had several selections of sushi that I have heard of, or seen, but have been too afraid to try before now. This gave me an opportunity to try them, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked them!
Overall, I love the decor, and if you can find a parking spot, be sure to get your sushi buffet on for $10 on weekdays. You can't beat that, and if you want an alternative to Ru Sans, THIS IS IT!
The ambiance in the place is cute and quaint, and I love the juxtaposition of the old and the new; the modern fixtures and big TV with the antique-looking chairs. The staff was extremely friendly, and the bubble tea was tasty. I will definitely be going back when my sweet tooth starts acting up!
As for the atmosphere and the service; amazing, and top notch are the only descriptors necessary. There is this sense of welcoming that you get with the Homegrown restaurants, and Stella is no exception.
This has become a regular spot of mine for a nice night out, and I can definitely say that it is a welcome addition to my regular haunts. You can get a great meal at a quaint and nice spot, what more could you ask for?

Dressed

First of all, I keep seeing people complain that the salads are expensive (more so in the midtown review). Well, I got everything I wanted in my salad, and it was less than $8; so perhaps the meat additions is where you are going wrong... you can get a GREAT salad for less than $10. I thought it was very "New York City" of this location to have the seating primarily upstairs, and it was a very welcoming environment.
I chose my salad mix and ingredients, and at what happened next, I was shocked and pleasantly surprised; they chop up your salad and mix everything for you! It's like Coldstone for salads!! That little touch made the salad consistency great; there was the perfect amount of dressing on each piece.
As a lover of salads, and a vegetarian once more, I can tell you that I will definitely be heading back to Dressed. I loved the decor, and the employees were VERY friendly. I love a good salad, and I am glad to have found a potential replacement for Eatzi's!!
The only down side for me was the parking; it was a bit weird once you got in the parking deck, and you had to remember your position so you could find the place once you were outside. That really isn't an issue, just more of an observation; bring your compass if you get lost easily!

Felix's On the Square
Categories: Restaurants, Bars
Now on to the minuses: well, it's the south, so they allow smoking. Since the bar is so small, it quickly becomes almost overwhelming, so more than a few hours and I have to leave before my lungs jump out of my chest and head for the door. While I loved the karaoke guys, they had the music up about 5 decibels away from permanent hearing damage, so I could have stood for it to be a bit quieter; keep in mind, I don't mind it loud, but this was like a jack hammer on my ear drums.
Regardless of the bad, I really had a great time here with my friends, and a special treat the night we went was the clearly "drunk off of her ass" lady who kept hitting on anything with a pulse. Seriously lady, you couldn't be barking up any more of the wrong tree. It's a gay bar! The best, was that people kept giving her drinks! Well, it may have been quite the scene, but at least it gave us something fun to watch; after all, I cannot turn away from a train wreck... no matter how tragic the scene may be!

So upon entering, I noticed one thing I didn't particularly care for; the atmosphere could only be described as warm and moist. NOT something I want when I am about to sit down and eat. Yet, we were determined to eat here (especially after having to park twice), so we went on in. Instead of greeting us, we kind of got stared down; after a few minutes, the cashier told us to come on back and talked to us a bit. He handed us menus, but wasn't really explicit as to what (or how) to order. I must admit, there were a good 10 minutes where I felt really awkward. They have a "buffet" option, which I opted for, but just know that it is a) not a buffet (at least, I didn't see a way that you could go back and get more), and b) it is definitely pricey.
Overall, the food was very tasty, and it was quite nice to try something different; vegan mac and cheese is definitely very interesting! Overall, it was an okay experience, but I just couldn't help feeling very out of place inside. Perhaps it was because the restaurant was pretty empty when we were there, or maybe it was the very hands off vibe of the staff? Either way, everyone was nice, but not enough for me to be convinced that I was truly welcome. I have to say, for the amount of money, I probably won't be heading out of my way to hit this spot in the near future, but if someone wanted to go back, I wouldn't refuse; as I said, the food was good, even if it took quite a long time for my friend's order to come out...

What a great little surprise in Toco Hills! I love going to this place, because the selection can't be beat.
The owner of the store, who is often manning the register, knows EVERYTHING about music. Seriously, quiz him. I think that he is encyclopedia of information about music; and this just what you want with a CD store. Seriously, I have asked him about REALLY obscure stuff, and he was all, "oh yeah, THAT". Wow.
My only gripe about this place, is that I feel like I have to buy something when I come in. Let me explain. See, I could look around for hours, but I feel bad when I don't buy something after spending so much time looking around. I used to spend hours in my local CD shop back home, and I could leave without anything, and feel okay. I don't think that it is the shop or the staff, but for whatever reason, I feel like I am being watched, and as a result, I feel the need to have a mission or a game plan when I go in to this store. Either way, it is a regular stop for me.
Support your local CD stores!

Their pancakes with pistachio cream cheese are to die for, and the special of two breakfasts and a pitcher of mimosas or bloody Mary's for $25 is just too awesome to resist.
The waiter was awesome, fast, and extremely nice.
I will DEFINITELY be going back here for brunch in the future.
