Yum gelato! This adorable little shop in the heart of the West Village you can find delicious, fresh gelato!

With all different flavours, you can try and decide. Take your time choosing your two flavours to scarf down. For a small scoop, a little pricey, but that's ok, because it's delicious! Going to Italy soon, I'll tell you how it compares when I come back!

Bobby Van's Steakhouse

Much too overpriced for my tastes (but luckily I was treated!). Then again, that's midtown/theatre district for you!

Went during lunch, sat in the window facing the old Lehman/new Barclay building. I walk by Bobby Van's everyday, so I wasn't too excited to be one of the people who happens to be in the window, but hey, at least I could people watch while chatting with my co-workers.

Ordered the lobster roll, which I had heard was good. There was a good bread assortment and those stick breadsticks on the table. A lot of different specials were offered (I should've ordered the duck wrapped scallops, but seemed a little rich, then again, like a lobster roll isn't that rich).

Lobster roll was in a wrap! A TORTILLA WRAP! I did not expect this. Most lobster rolls I've had are in sandwich form (or am I just making this up!?) Although good, it was a little too salty for my taste. There was an arugula salad drenched in balsamic, which is sadly how I like my salad.

Other things ordered at the table include: dover sole; lasagna and a burger. The dover sole looked delicious, a lot of food on the plate given that the plate was basically a serving platter. The lasagna looked ok, a little messy and very meaty. The burger platter was overflowing with fries and fried onions. I'm not sure what to make of it.

I don't think I'd go back unless I was invited and treated, but it'd would be a good place to conduct a business meeting.

Don't enter this store with a lot of things on you. You will inevitably bump into something which could result in catastrophe. This store is aisle upon aisle of amazing dishes, mugs, silverware, glassware, etc.

So many things that I want to buy: very adorable and unique glassware, colourful dishes and tons of cool things to look at overall. If I ever need a dish or two, I'll be stopping by Fishs Eddy!

Metro Cafe & Wine Bar

I can see into Metro Cafe from my window. No, really, I can. Hence why one day my friends and I decided to check it out.

It was 11pm, but we were hungry. We arrived and ordered full meals. I ordered a turkey burger and my friends, pasta dishes. The pasta dishes looked ok, but nothing better than what I could cook. My turkey burger wasn't bad, but nothing to rave about as well.

I am pretty sure the place is owned by Chinese people (due to the random Chinese decor around the place). Overall, not bad, but definitely nothing to rave about. If I'm starving, I'll go back since it's so close!

The Mermaid Inn

The Mermaid Inn lived up to its Yelp reviews. A quiet unassuming restaurant. Small menu, but with big taste. Went in not knowing what exactly to expect, but was very pleasantly surprised.

Ordered a calamari appetizer. It had an amazing tomato/jicama salsa on top. My dad ordered the salmon, which looked excellent, but with too little much of the sauce on top. My mom ordered the codfish. The risotto the fish sat upon was creamy and had just the right amount of flavour that it didn't overpower the cod.

My friend ordered the shrimp and avocado sandwich, which had a very nice toasted bun. I don't know if I'd order a sandwich at dinner, but I thought it was a nice choice.

I ended up ordering the Sunday special -- shrimp, scallops, calamari on spaghetti with a spicy marinara sauce. It was delicious. Enough said. I would probably order it again if I went back on a Sunday.

The awesome fortune telling fish (made in Taiwan!) was uhhh interesting. So I use awesome loosely. Considering my dad's fortune was "false" I have no idea what that means.

Since there is no dessert menu, they give everyone an expresso cup of chocolate mousse. Yum!

Awesome ambiance, big windows with lots of light. Free wifi (except they turn it off on weekends -- boo) and friendly staff. Awesome seating and yummy coffee. What else can you ask for? Yes yes, I am a big fan of Cafe Ost. I haven't made it out there in awhile, but I'll probably spend a good amount of time there this summer. Love the ambiance, makes me feel like I'm in Europe. Highly recommended place to sit and chat or just study/work/read.

Dear DessertTruck, Please bring back your coconut chocolate banana macarons. They made my day and now that they aren't on the menu anymore, I've been overcome with sadness. I still think about them often and I hope the come back soon in the near future!!

Basically I'm basing my review off those macarons, but overall, good molten chocolate cake. Haven't had the bread pudding, but it appears to have mixed reviews, that'll be my next choice since I cannot get my beloved macarons anymore!!

Can't wait to try out everything else though!

Now that I live only 2 blocks from Craftbar, I know I'm going to have some problems. A very yummy go-to place for brunch. I think the best bets are the Brioche Pain Perdu and the White Anchovy Bruschetta. The other foods are good, but not awesome. I think these two dishes definitely top the menu. Especially since I've almost had everything on the menu so far. The next thing I need to try are the donuts.

Excellent ambiance, but don't sit at the bar. waiter service at a table is much better.

Almond

Going too Almond too often is going to turn me into a lush. I go only because I have a friend that goes practically every other day. It's consistent, the bartenders are friendly, and the drinks are good. Just remind me not to ever do a Patron shot ever again (I'm getting too old for this).

The food is great as well ~ try the yummy mac & cheese and the seafood sampler ("A Tasting of All Three") is great ~ really good scallops.

Also, remind me not to drink gin. I don't like gin but St. Germain is one of my favorites, so I ordered the "St. Germain Cocktail" which consists of  gin, st. germain elderflower liqueur, and fresh lime juice. I couldn't taste the elderflower :( so next time, I'll order something else.

Overall, great bar, great ambiance, yummy food, consistent drinks -  thank you Almond for a good time!

Aoki

Aoki is where my co-workers and I go when we're craving affordable Japanese. I'm never disappointed with their lunch bento box. I'm partial to the eel (unaju - grilled eel). Soup to start, then a platter of salad, California roll, the grilled unaju (plenty of it too!) and rice.

They have this great waterfall thing that mesmerizes me when I sit next to it. Don't look too close, or you might get wet.

Will always return just due to affordability (it's $11!!) and convenient location.
