My only complaint is there was a fee for reinspection, which I've read isn't standard.

My girlfriend had a chicken salad sandwich, which also got a thumbs up.
I can't really comment on the wine selection since I'm not a wine drinker.
It would be nice if there was a better selection of pastries, and it's a little annoying that they have a minimum purchase to use a checkcard (though I understand why they do it). And it's often crowded enough that I end up turning around as soon as I walk in and picking a different place to go.
It's good that they also serve beer at night, as I have friends who like to drink coffee at all hours, but I'd rather not.
This is another case where I'd like to give it three-and-a-half stars but can't quite give it four, so it ends up getting three.

Pastries A Go Go

I'm not a huge fan of the Dancing Goat's coffee though. The orange juice tasted like it was from concentrate, and I don't really like their cinnamon rolls (which are usually my favorite pastry). It's also claustrophobic to eat in, which is why I greatly prefer to get my food to go.
It's not bad though. I'd like to call it three-and-a-half stars, but I can't quite go with a four. I may revisit this review if I sample other pastries and like them.

I had the Maxim Salad as an appetizer, which contained goat cheese, cashews, dried cherries, and honey sherry vinaigrette. Tasty.
For the main course, I ordered the 10 oz. filet medium rare, and it actually came out cooked medium-rare. This may sound trivial, but there are so many restaurants in this city that get that wrong.
A friend of mine said she loved the glazed ribs she ordered, and everybody seemed generally happy with what they ordered.
The sides seem expensive at $8 each until you realize that it's a serving for two or three people to sample. We had creamed corn and mashed potatoes, both of which were delicious.
As a nice bonus, when the staff was told it was my birthday, they gave me a free brulee cheesecake! It was delicious, I highly recommend it as a dessert (even if you're actually paying for it).
My only real complaint about the place is everything is pricey for what you get, particularly drinks. A mixer with Maker's Mark in it shouldn't cost $12.
I ended up deciding to try the "absinthe minded" cocktail because I'd never tried absinthe before and had been wanting to for a while. The waitress at least had the sense to tack a "have you ever tried absinthe?" warning to it. Not bad, though I suspect there are better places to sample absinthe.
Service was a little on the slow side, but I didn't mind because that gave me more time to talk with my friends. Just keep that in mind if you're in a hurry to get somewhere.
If you're worried that this is an "upscale Hooters" because of the association with Maxim Magazine, fret not. I couldn't see any evidence of this partnership other than the name of the place. Maybe I missed something.
The decor is really loud, with crazy lighting everywhere. If I had put away four or five of those absinthe cocktails that might have been a problem. So don't bring anyone here prone to epileptic seizures, but otherwise you should check it out!

When it's warm enough, I love sitting on the patio outside or inside near one of the street-facing sides that they can open up.
Food comes pretty quickly, even when there's a crowd.
I could imagine driving here and trying to park being a pain in the butt some days, but it never occurs to me because it's in walking distance from my office.

I've been there twice in the past month. The first time, I ordered a tall stack of buttermilk pancakes. Should have ordered the short stack, as that's a ridiculous serving of food for one person. Tasty though!
This morning I ordered the blue plate with bacon and potatoes. It was delicious. The bacon in particular was a standout to me, with a nice smokey flavor to it and not cooked too crisp. Be warned that they use a ton of salt and pepper on the potatoes. I happen to like that, so they're good to me.
Both times, I also took a cupcake to go with me. My girlfriend loves the Coca Cola cupcakes. They're pretty good, though I'd like to see a bigger selection of pastries.
Parking had been an issue there for a while during construction, but there's a deck open behind it now with plenty of parking.
We ate there this past weekend, and I ordered a strawberry waffle with OJ and coffee. My girlfriend ordered the traditional breakfast and let me have her bacon.
Service was fine, the food was okay. The only complaint we had was a minor one: they described the traditional breakfast as coming with a side of fruit, but that turned out to be a single meager orange slice.
You can do better than J. Christopher's for breakfast and brunch in Atlanta, but you can also do a lot worse.
The lasagna is pretty good, but without fail (at multiple locations) they always burn the edge of it and I end up having to carve those parts off.
The egg pasta is tasty, but for whatever reason it seems to give me a little bit of heartburn.
The cheese-stuffed ravioli has been the surest bet for me here.
The tirimusu for dessert is a highlight, it's excellent.
This location has cramped seating inside, though that hasn't been an issue at other locations.
All locations irritate me a little with the pay-first model. If I don't have cash for a tip, I end up having to tip beforehand, which irritates me because I end up giving an average tip before I know how the service is going to turn out. Most of the time the service is good to above-average, but once or twice it hasn't been good.

She is very knowledgeable of both home construction in general and of homes in this market. She made sure all our bases were covered and that our questions were answered. Everyone we dealt with at Kenny Cook was courteous and professional.
You should definitely call Kenny Cook Realty and ask for Stacia if you're shopping for a home on the East side of Atlanta.
