TUE Thai Food

4 star rating

One great advance in Manhattan has been the huge improvement in Thai food. Case and point TUE Thai - I was on my way to a quick warm snack at Go Sushi when I realized there was a new store in town. And I am pleased I went --- tastiest Roast Duck Broth Noodle I have had for well over last year or so.

Cute as spot - think Republic Union Square shrunk down by 20 - yet 10 times the flavor!

You gotta go - awesome menu, hip little interior, friendly smiles :-) What else could you want on a wet New York day?

Great coffee - great attitude - great biscotti - my three favorite things bundled into one little fun store. More varieties of homemade biscotti than you can shake a stick at - Black & Tan (Guinness and butterscotch), Kahlua & Espresso Bean, Lavender & White Chocolate. Yum come now, I am sitting on the bench outside - we can enjoy together :-)

PLEASE, please, only go here when emotionally devastated or otherwise broken in spirit, otherwise the abiding vibe of being Underwhelmed will have no positive effect.

Nice space - but all so, ordinary. The only bit of excitement was the Lamb Schnitzel - which was, well, nice.

Oh god, please, two things - (1) If you are going to rim a cocktail glass with sugar, ensure it dries, otherwise the drink melts it into a mess that drips all over your hands; (2) whats the obsession with female nipple decor - sweet lord it nearly put me off my schnitzel - in the name of equality, a little dick wouldn't hurt

Very strange place.

Whiskey Blue

This "bar" screams Eurotrash from the moment you walk in, to the moment you run screaming into a cab and back Downtown to where you belong.

Disinterested and ultimately caustic blond bar staff simply ignore you and are probably the biggest disservice to the poor schleps who decide to go for a drink. I don't think I have ever had to wave my arms in the air to get attention of a bar person who has nothing better to do than file her nails. It has a humorous tinge, but to be treated with such disdain by bar staff, is to put an establishment on Death Watch.

Next, to be a bar you must be able to mix the standards - frankly some of the worst cocktail mixing I have observed or tasted. The Manhattan was an embarrassment, mixed with cheap brands and not a whiff of bitters to be seen. The drink burnt my throat and I swear that the ghosts of Manhattan mixologists past with come and haunt these impostors while they are drinking their wine-spritzers.

I echo the experience of other reviewers - "reserved" tables that were never occupied, a matching Eurotrash crowd and vibe, table service staff with clear attitudes. I do not claim to be anyone special, but I do expect a bar to deliver true New York attitude, which should be flair, confidence, elegance and liveliness. Whiskey Blue is none of these and contributes to the false and poor image of a New York that makes outsiders often hate us.

This reminds me why I hang Downtown.

Please close down.

A great addition it the World Financial Center shops. As random as it sounds, I was in need to shaving creme and this store just emerged before me LOL. Okay, so I work in the building, but still I felt fate shining upon me.

Simple design and layout reveals some beautiful men's grooming products. Full range of shaving cremes, quality brushes, funky razar / brush stands, balms, and any range of potions the modern man needs to keep his face looking, feeling and smelling great.

All the shaving cremes smelt great, including the Lavender, Floral and the one I am enjoying now, the White Tea. Beautiful lather, honestly, a really nice product. All that, served up in a nice setting and very informative staff.

You shouldn't let your face miss it.

Oh and as a side note - for those of us who actually work in WFC, about bloody time that more men's stores opened - so whorah to e-Shave :-)

If god were a pie, it would probably be a Steve's Key Lime pie.

4" was all I needed to feel completely satisfied, strangely enough haha! Sweet, tangy, creamy, rich - all in a mouth filling ginger biscuit crumb based.

Divine.

Sweet lord, the eclectic way the store is set out, mirrors my head, I think I found my kindred spirit!

Obscure, quality finds. Bourbon selection was great.

However I am going to RAVE about the collection of Bitters in stock. The largest selection I have seen in one place. If you are serious about reviving the pre-prohibition use of flavored bitters in your cocktails this is a must visit. Rhubarb bitters, orange bitters, a whole range of Fee Bros bitters, Peychauds infamous New Orleans bitters ... but the gem, the almost impossible to find newly established German "Bitter Truth" bitters, producing what I think is the best orange bitters to be had.

The store was as cold as a nun's tit by the way - something to do with landlords and gas finds LOL life is never simple in NYC :-) Totally worth the visit people!

Something about dark buttoned leather banquettes and wooden bars seem to make me feel cozy and safe for weekend brunch. Like, if someone popped a bottle of rye in front of me, I might be there all day and into the evening :-)

Warm, welcoming and great food - hit the spot completely. Belgium waffles were robust, generously topped with fresh fruits, and the side of hash browns were crunchy and ever so comforting LOL

Service was genuine and friendly, even if a little clumsy.

Should you go, HELL yeah !!

Haha god love a review below about the old Irish pub feel "if that's what they were trying to recreate". Haha. So this is the genuine article, the oldest working pub in the city. It reeks authenticity, homemade beer, no frills, sawdust floors and the kind of quirky attitude that would keep you coming back for years to come.

I love the two beer 'dark' or 'light' choice, given we live in a city that has infinite number of choices. And besides, when you are buzzed, lack of choices makes life so easy.

Thanks for still being in business. I can't remember what I was doing in 1854.

Just a short review. The duck soup with soba rocked the world. Honestly, the tastiest dish I have had in I do not know how long - which is a long time in the grander scheme of things. The rich, clear flavors of the broth were so fantastic.

You should go, its awesome.
