Today's customer service at the New Balance store on 42nd has ended my relationship with the company. I walked in and asked a salesperson if I could see a pair of non-leather sneakers. She showed me a pair and said "no leather. Fabric only." I replied that it felt like leather, but she insisted it wasn't.
So I started looking it up on my iPhone when another salesperson asked me if I needed assistance. I told her the above and she said "It's not leather, it's suede." I responded that it's still made from the hide of an animal and I'm vegetarian. She LAUGHED AT ME!
I was furious and told her that it was no laughing matter. She told me to speak to the manager who couldn't have cared less. I will be writing to New Balance to complain about this store's customer service.

A vegetarian at a tapas restaurant? It can be done!
Lovely atmosphere and staff; even the owner came over to talk with us. I had the following items from the menu:
Pitcher of Sangria
Potato omelet with mushrooms
Three cheeses (two sheep; one cow) with crostini and apple slices
Grilled mushrooms
Grilled asparagus with goat cheese
Every plate was wonderful, as was the sangria. My favorites were probably the potato omelet and the cheese plate. This is a great place to go with a small group of friends.

1) No privacy - the massage "rooms" are really just Japanese screens on three sides of you.
2) Noise - since the space is so open, you hear everything (phones, reception, waiting room, buzzer to door, and other customers)
3) Lack of professionalism - the masseuse left several times to talk to coworkers, which took away from the relaxation aspect of the massage.
So why three stars? The massage was good for $50 and if you aren't looking for anything other than that, it's a great place to go. If you are looking for a spa experience, skip it.

I'll have to come back for lunch or dinner before I can give this place more (or less) stars.
