Oishii Sushi Bar
Categories: Sushi Bars, Japanese
I'd heard and read plenty of good things about Oishii and they were largely justified when I finally visited here last night.
The small size reminded me of the small sushi joints I frequented when I lived in Tokyo and the quality was right up there. The o-toro was fatty and melt-on-your-tongue delicious and the kumatomo oysters we got were fresh and well complemented by a dash of hot chilies. The sea bass nigiri and handrolls were excellent as well. The only mild disappointment was the grilled hamachi neck. It was tasty and we devoured it, but I've had better elsewhere.
Good job all around, next time I think I will go with the takeout menu to avoid the wait.

I just visited Sofra for the first time after a friend who was in town for the day mentioned that he wanted some Middle Eastern food. I didn't know exactly what Sofra offered but I knew it would fit the bill and it did.
Next time I go I will probably get the mezze and just dip the lovely, airy bread in it. This time we were both hungry so we went with something more substantial. Lamb shwarmas, which were crispy on the outside and fatty and tender on the inside were the main course. We also both got the plate of buttered hummus which (super bonus) had two thin layers of cured meat layered over the top along with delicious black olives and chopped tomatoes.
The bee sting pastry was the perfect finish. I will definitely be back again.

This is my third year doing a farm share but my first with Waltham Fields and so far it's been a great experience. We just collected our first share of the season and it was far bigger than I was expecting. I'm glad my wife and I decided to team up with another couple this year instead of doing it on our own. I believe our first haul amounted to:
2 heads of lettuce
2 bok choy
one bunch swiss chard
one bunch kale
one bunch radishes
one HUGE bunch of tatsoi (an Asian green that can be cooked or eaten raw)
one pound of spinach
one HUGE Napa cabbage.
And this doesn't count the pick your own snap peas and strawberries (which introduced me to a new bird, the killdeer, which nests in the middle of the fields.)
The people at the farm have been great and are very responsive to questions and suggestions. I can't wait to see what other types of produce we get throughout the summer.

Boston Photography Center is a group of local area photographers (both amateurs and professional.) BPC sponsors events all around the greater Boston area and does a few road trips further abroad (NYC, Vermont, etc.)
These are a great opportunity to get out and enjoy taking pictures in different environments and meet people with a similar interest in photography, compare notes on gear, etc. The web site and Facebook group also provide forums for offering help on technique, Photoshop and all sorts of other things.
The BPC also sponsors photography classes for novices who want to learn how to get the most of our their DSLRs and trips to photography exhibits in local museums. It's a great group of people and every event I've attended has been a lot of fun.
If you have an interest in photography give BPC a look.

My wife and I have tried Baan Thai for takeout a few times and been pretty happy with it. We've tried the pad thai, massaman curry and several appetizers. The yom tum soup was pretty disappointing but otherwise the food has been pretty decent.
They do decent sushi as well. The spicy tuna roll is actually spicy which is a nice change from most places.

i went here with my wife, her two brothers and one of the brother's girlfriend. We got a wide range of meat and vegetarian dishes. Saag paneer, several types of naan, lamb biryani, aloo mutter, and chicken tikka hariyali. Everything was excellent and the service was fast and efficient.
side note: I could eat papadum with the spicy onion curry at every meal.

I'm very glad I ordered a small steak sub because I'm 6'2 and the small was as long as my forearm. The large would have fed me for two days.
I wouldn't go here often just to avoid getting any fatter than I already am, but as an occasional treat it's great.

A large group of NC State alums met here last Saturday before heading to the BC/NC State basketball game that afternoon.
No real complaints but it seemed like they were not at all prepared for our numbers even though we'd called ahead and let them know who was coming. We had one overtaxed waiter for about 30 people. He did a good job, but could have used some help.
The nachos were good, but my Southwestern Turkey Burger order didn't get entered, mainly because of the overtaxed waiter not any purposefully bad service. He was very apologetic when I mentioned it to him just to make sure it wasn't on our bill.
I'll definitely go again as I've had good experiences here in the past

My wife enjoys Chipotle more than Anna's Taqueria (blasphemy to me) but I admit their food is pretty good.
I've tried a few burritos and they are just too much food for me to eat in one setting. I got tacos last time and that was a much more manageable meal and is probably the way I'll go in the future.
And one thing I love about them. When you order something hot, that's how you get it. Be warned.

I got a green curry box which included a salad, pad thai and some fried appetizers. Everything tasted great though I will ask for more spice in the curry next time I go.
I'm always on the lookout for a good Thai restaurant and this one fits the bill.
