The goofy staff "uniforms" didn't bother me at all. My waitress even charmed the kids -- despite having trademark "Cooper" eyeliner, heavy tattoos, and goth ensemble. I thought they'd be freaked out, but they took it all in stride. The service was both speedy and polite. I'd go again.
Now the reasons you may want to reconsider:
-- Extreme Portions. This may be a good thing for some, but I found myself feeling very wasteful about half-way through the meal. There was simply no way I was going to finish, and since I was planning to walk around the Marketplace afterwords - I knew the food wouldn't keep.
-- Extreme Prices. We dropped in with the kids, because we thought it would be family friendly and moderately priced. Imagine my surprise when I opened the menu. All the entree's were $20+ Even kids meals were $8 dollars... better mortgage the house if you want to get drinks too!
-- Better Options. Yes, this place is great. But for the price, I could find comparable spots to eat. The main advantage to Lucille's is that it is barbecue in the right location (Tempe Marketplace).

There are several events hosted throughout the year to make DBG worth revisits -- Flashlight Tours, Jazz in the Garden, Butterfly Exhibits, etc. The staff is knowledgeable and enthusiastic. The grounds are well manicured and well planned out (wide meandering trails, specialized gardens, nice garden shop and folk art displays). It's great for both family and singles alike.
Lately, there has been a bit of construction as they have been improving their garden... but I don't mind, cause its all in an effort to make the place more enjoyable.

Service, food, atmosphere, variety of dishes, price... they were all exceptional.
They are super helpful hosts, that will give you the low-down on what is good, great, and so-so in Napa. Rooms and decor are typical bed-n-breakfast with more of a modern flair. Breaksfast was wonderful (which is easy when one of the hosts is a chef). There is also a beautiful courtyard/garden on site.
So why no five stars? Accommodations were nice, but not 5 star hotel great . Also, there is a noise curfew and no television in your room. If you are looking for peace and quiet, that is great. But sometimes its nice to cuddle with your honey with a bottle of wine and a good movie.

This place is less central, but in a newer business park. The service is great, rooms clean and you have a full suite to your disposal. I didn't really need the kitchen as much I thought I would, but it was reassuring to know it was there. There are a few little eating spots within walking distance (BBQ, Pinkberry knock-off, etc). The hotel offers full buffet breakfast - which is quite good, _if_ you can get it. The breakfast experience is actually why I rated this place 3 stars instead of 4. It's just too tiring to try to fight the mobs of people in their serving room. It's amusing that a hotel that looks only half-occupied can suddenly become so popular when you introduce free food.
That's about as much enthusiasm as I can muster for this place...
