When we were five minutes away, my phone rang. We ran like crazy people all the way back, lest they give the table to someone else.
It was worth it. The oshinko was beautifully prepared and refreshing. The salmon sushi melted in my mouth, allowing me to take two bites of each piece instead of eating the whole thing at once so I wouldn't risk the "can't bite through the fish /I'm making a mess /rice is getting everywhere" dance. The lobster salad and spicy scallop rolls were out of this world, as were the eel (we got both sea eel and eel + cucumber).
Our server was very sweet and courteous, and even though the place is small and there were people waiting, we were never rushed.
My friend and I each paid slightly over $30, which was a steal for the experience we had. I'm going to tell everyone I know about this place, and am definitely going back to treat myself soon.
The interior doesn't have much character, and I was disappointed when trying to find the robots that have been said to operate in the kitchen (I think they're just fancy ovens with different buttons and lights on them).
Otherwise though, Rheon is a nice outdoor option for summer. The whole sandwich was plenty for a midday meal, albeit a little pricey (I can get a huge salad with four slices of bread at Aroma for the same price).

I had a BLT and my friend had the rigatoni; both were delicious. The service was prompt and everybody was very friendly (neither disappearing for long periods of time nor rushing us). The pecan pie was a little dry, but it wasn't my choice anyway ^^ I've been wanting to explore more of Greenpoint, so I'll definitely be back in this little section for food and some drinks next door at Coco 66.

I'm glad I did: the office is beautiful, the receptionist is sweet and helpful, and I wasn't waiting very long before I was seen (15 minutes).
Dr. Colbert was very easy to talk to and answered every single question I had. He recommended some procedures like microdermabrasion and BLU-U, but didn't make me feel pressured at all: he just gave me brochures and told me to read them and think about whether or not it was something I wanted to try. He wrote me a couple of prescriptions that he said would make my skincare regimen less involved and complicated, and recommended I schedule a follow-up for a full skin cancer screening.
In the past, I've had experiences with dermatologists where they would poke and prod at my face without even telling me what they were doing, and then I'd be charged for all these extra procedures. Ditto with pushing their own products on me. None of these things happened with Dr. Colbert; I definitely recommend this place and will never dread going to the dermatologist again as long as I'm at NYDG.

I have been to Il Corallo several times, as it is within walking distance of my work is nice for a semi-quick lunch or an after-working-late dinner. The pasta is cooked exactly as I like it, and there is soooooo much to choose from.
But. I have been treated rudely twice already. That is two times too many. Most other places in NY manage to pull off al dente just as well.
The first time was when I was with out-of-town friends. They wanted pasta, so naturally I thought of this great & nearby place. But when we all put cash down at the end, but server stood there, right above our heads, counting it. Then he showed me the bill and said we were short $20. We were confused. Yes, it can be confusing to do math when there are four or five people who have ordered different things and not everybody has exact change, but we couldn't have been off by that much. After much deliberation, I looked down and noticed that he didn't even take all of the money that was on the table. Boy were we annoyed and insulted.
Then tonight. I was supposed to meet a friend here, and she was running late (I really love the MTA). I went to the small bar type area in the front room and asked if I could get a glass of wine while I waited. "No," the guy behind the counter said. A little taken aback, I said "I... can't have ANYTHING while I wait?" and he vigorously nodded his head, gave me a "didn't you hear me the first time" look (wide eyes & raised eyebrows included) and said "yep, that's right." GAAAAAAAH.
When my friend showed up, we went to Peep instead (directly across the street & one of my favorite restaurants). I will not be returning to this place. ever.

The service was impeccable: we were attended to immediately, asked to give our coats to Ricardo (who saved us all a lot of time by giving us one ticket for all three) and seated at a table with a cute view.
Our server was very attentive and patient with us (there were so many delicious-sounding things on the menu it took us a while to decide), and kept refilling our coffee before we even realized we needed more. I ordered the macaroni & cheese, and while I raised an eyebrow at the $14 price, I got enough to feed me for dinner last night and lunch today! Definitely worth it and SO delicious. My friends loved their meals as well. I will be returning soon to check out the dinner.
Another tiny bonus is that soon after ordering, we realized that all of the servers were guys, and they were all cute. I tried to be sneaky and take a photo of one of them for my friend Joe, but I think people noticed. oops.

1. Those bigger multicolored string lights were up... the kind that always manage to make my apartment look tacky but make this bar feel comfortable... like a place I could always return to.
2. Rogue hazelnut stout on tap.
3. DJ playing Stereolab.
That settled it for me.

There is not a lot of space in there, so we had to be mindful of our every move, lest we fling a wine glass onto another table. Speaking of, I had a glass of the Rhone, which was very good. Then the Five Leaves Burger - $15 of juicy, fried pineapple sliced, fried egged deliciousness. Seriously, YUM. Later, I had a bite of my roommate's shortbread with Earl Grey Tea ice cream (!?), which was out of this world. I'm actually still thinking of calling them to ask where they got that ice cream.
I had to run back in right after I left, because I carelessly left my keys on my seat; the first thing I saw was a cute server standing over the table, holding the keys up for me with a big grin on his face.
Overall, lovely. The prices are a little ridiculous, but I guess that's what we get for going to Heath Bar.
